  • Hiking 14km On Mount Buller. James (@theangrydragon) and I, hiked to the top of Mount Buller last week. We camped on the Delatite River at Mirimbah the previous night and returned via the Kingsporn Track. Here's some footage of our little adventure.
I shot this on the Panasonic LUMIX GH5 with the native 12-35mm lens.

I considered doing some bike packing trips this year and filming in this style. Let me know if you like the format.

Sounds good! Just put one good video out once a month or so - whatever doesn't stress you out. Family & job first, vlogs after.

Wow! That’s taken some time to shoot!
Keep setting the camera up like that for each scene must have been a bit more stressful than actually watching it!
      Well done mate, great content!

I agree wholeheartedly with you about this hike. I just did it (Feb-24). but started at the start of Daughtys Rd, and returned via Klinsbjorn. 1350m total climbing. You’re spot on the steep climb up and how hard the downhill is. Great vid, love the footage and the comments at the end.

I went to Geelong Grammar School and spent the year of 1978 attending 3rd Form at Timbertop .I know all those tracks and ridges very well and I am sure my 14/15 year old memory has them seeming much easier than they would be at age 57. One of the school hikes was from Timbertop (the pointy mountain in the center top of frame at 3:52) over Mt Buller then down and over to Mt Stirling before heading down the other side of Mt Stirling ending up at the Mirimbah Store and down the Buller Road back to school.Epic times for a young boy back in the day.
(Just a slight correction for you.The name of the track you eventually went down is the Klingsporn Track with an "l", named after the Klingsporn family, one of the old families who were the first to graze cattle on Mt Buller,Mt Stirling and down to the Delatite River. One of their descendants, Jack Klingsporn in my era, used to allow the school to use part of his property on the Delatite River near the GGS turn off as one of our first term "training camps". Poor bugger had so much patience especially for wayward rascals like myself who chopped down one of his trees only to have to pay the price with manual labour at his gravel pit for three weeks.)

Great video mark! Agree on walking downhill being harder than going up. I grabbed some trekking poles about 2 months back and they are a game changer for saving your knees going downhill. never hike without them now and they are just a cheapo pair off Amazon. Cheers

Nice Mave, helped me think about chilling in the environment after getting back to city life and work this week 😬
I agree about the downhill being tough on the knees in particular. I did the 6 foot track to the Jenolan Caves with camping gear many years ago and I seriously hurt my knees on the final rocky descent.
