Absolutly great meathod, if and when that little screw on that under panel wants to work. Even with a pry tooth/gommit remover and a short shaft #2, I couldn't get mine to budge.
So, out came the socket set. #10 socket removed the two bolts that can be seen on top of the headlamp. Unscrewed and pulled off the plastic trim running up the side of the underhood to reveal he third #10 bolt. Removed three screws from top of the front grill to give me some ply room as I pull the headlight assembly out enough to reach my hand in to change the signal bulb. Put verything back together, in reverse and repeat on the other side. About 20-30 minutes total, after trying for 15-20 minutes to get access through the wheel well panel.

I just watched this video to learn how to change the bulb on my 2012. Here’s some pointers:
You will have very little room to unscrew the clip for the access panel. Either use a very short screwdriver or remove the tire entirely (ridiculous you have to do that, thanks Hyundai)
If you've never replaced this bulb before, that gasket will be sealed on tight after years of heat and cold in the engine cavity. The area you reach in is very small and you'll have trouble getting leverage to break that seal and pop the bulb out. I resorted to using a rubber mallet and a small punch to tap the bulb fixture (the part you need to twist off) from the top side with the hood open. If you break the seal, you should be able to twist it out easier.
Don't be suprised if the plastic plug for the access panel either is damaged or won't hold the screw tightly when you are done. You might have to get a new one or replace it with a plastic rivet used for securing plastic body parts. Parts stores sell them either as individual sizes or a variety pack.

The two filaments in my bulb were good too (I tested them with a 12V power supply). I removed the bulb from the socket, then cleaned the 3 contacts in the hole with a Q-tip, and a tiny screwdriver. I pulled the 6 contacts in the hole and on the rim of the socket out a little bit, with a tiny hook, to make more snug connections. Then I wire-brushed the bulb base (cylinder and soldered terminals). Parking light and turn signal work great now.

1156 is a single filament bulb.
1157 is a double filament bulb.
This car needs a 1157 / 2357 bulb, because the same bulb has two functions. One is the low powered parking light function (it just lights up when you turn the headlights on at night) and the second is the turn signal light.

The panel you have to remove broke in the cold weather when I was trying to replace my bulb. Do you know the name of that part? I need to order a replacement to cover up the hole.

I am not sure if they sell just the panel separately. They sell the entire fender liner. Here is the link for it.

I have a 2013 sonata and you do not access the turn signal bulb from underneath, it's accessed from the hood compartment

You must have small hands. I scarred my wrist trying to get it out with no luck. I'll try removing the tire next.
    Thanks for the info though...

I just took my car down the street for an oil change and tire rotation at Conrad’s. I noticed my driver side turn signal was out and asked them to fix it. They called me back and said it was going to cost me $200 bc they had to remove part of the bumper and housing unit. Glad I told them not to do it. $8 for a new set of bulbs and 10min worth of work.

I have a 2012 hybrid, and the space to fit my hand in to unscrew the bulb is insufficient. I.e. it's too small.
    Please help!
