- This video is about Delay 1, a new Eurorack module which Joranalogue very kindly sent over from Belgium for me to check out.
It’s a super-high-quality analogue BBD design that specialises in very short delays, from 1 to 50 milliseconds. This turns it into something much more interesting than a conventional delay or echo effect, as well as opening up possibilities for Karplus-Strong synthesis.
In this video, I build some patches that explore the musical applications of Delay 1, from stereo chorus and comb filter to melodic voice and kick drum generator.
For more on the design, see Joranalogue’s educational stream:

That kick and bass are unreal
I know right? That's my favourite patch, I think!
I'm gonna try this (starting with giant kicks) with my Intellijel Cascadia and a Boss DD-8. The Cascadia has an expression pedal output I can use to control the delay time on the Boss pedal from an envelope. Also has an effects loop so I can control where in the signal chain the delay goes. I'll let you know how it goes.
Great idea with the wave shaping, sounds nice!
Thanks!
Thanks for this walk-through. This module is burning its way into my brain.
Excellent set of patch ideas!
Cheers Martin!
Thanks for video!
I want this! Great video man :D
Cheers sir!

Excellent tutorial, thanks. Ergh I need to reach out to Joranalogue - My clocked delay (longer delay times with external clock) doesn’t seem to work. I just get the click of the clock itself at the output. Have you experienced this at all? Thanks-
Hmm, that’s odd. What are you using as the clock, and what frequency are you running it at? This might be stating the obvious but it still needs to be pretty fast (i.e. in the kHz range - I used Xaoc Poczdam as it offers some very fast ranges) so I’d be surprised if you could hear a ‘click’ that’s related to that…
@@TomChurchill indeed you are correct. It was my own ignorance, of course. I wasn’t sending a nearly high enough rate square wave into it. It works perfectly! Sorry to bother you in your comments section. Loving your videos, and you have me really curious about the Xaoc Leibniz system…I may be jumping into that pool in 2024 thanks to your videos. 👍🏼 Happy new year!
Hello mate, great video! What is the oscilloscope you're using?
Thanks! It’s a DSO138 kit - cheap and cheerful! You should find them on eBay, Amazon, Ali Express etc for £20-£40 depending on whether you want it pre-assembled.
