Hi Lucas, have you ever tried this with an ultra wideangle lens, does it work or does the vignetting get really bad?

I recall you get some funky polarization artifacts, but I don't know. Sold it years ago with the Sony

Why does mine creating a small vignette on the side?

I'm confused as to why the image suffers more with a telephoto lens than with a shorter one?

This is because of the nature how these adapters work. They consist of two polarizers, and you see the same phenomenon on ploarizers as well. I can't tell you about the physical dependencies, though

    Nice receiver, it's the STR-DE695 isn't it?

DE495 :) I got it more than 15yrs ago. I left it with my mother as it didn't serve me all the features I wanted back then, so I got a Yamaha which did. My mom then decided that she didn't need that stuff anymore, so the receiver plus small Canton system found its way back, first into my bedroom and now my workstation. As I only use it for Stereo (plus sub) now it's already a bit overkill, but it has to sit somewhere right :)
The Yamaha died a year ago btw, I replaced it with an Onkyo TX-NR626 which I got for dirt cheap. Plays nicely :)

Lucas Pfaff Ah I see, well I got mine from an uncle, works pretty great although the connectors of my speakers are shit so I have to keep move it around till all 4 speakers work again, bit of a hassle to be honest.

Oh that's bad :( I recently got some big Yamaha speakers from the 70s for free from a garage sale. Where a pain to get home, and surely don't sound incredible, but they look cool and sound at least not worse tham my Canton speakers. They produce little to no deep frequencies, but that's what the sub is for. I plan to install the tiny Cantons on the other side, not to get 5.1 sound but to have "front" speakers when I'm at my building desk, so 4.1 in stereo so to say :)

Lucas Pfaff Ah that's a nice setup indeed. Where you from by the way?

How do I know if I have the latest version or the old horrible one?????

    • @LucasPfaff

I have no idea :( it isn't printed on the body, so the only thing you can really do is consider when you bought it. If it's from the times it was new, it most likely is the bad one. If it's more recent, it shouldn't be.

Thanks for the quick response. I brought it March last year

Then it should be the new one. I got mine used a few months earlier :)

Cheers bro. I find that as long as I don't go past the halfway point on the adapter, the sharpness loss is very minimal. After the halfway point, it looks super soft.
