About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to download and install mods in Minecraft. We cover everything with the goal of this being the only guide you need for how to install Minecraft mods in 2024. It covers everything you need to know about how to add mods to Minecraft in 2024 from how to get Forge for your mods to where to download to mods to finally putting the mods in Minecraft and using them!
First things first, we will need to download the Forge mod loader. There are other Minecraft mod loaders out there, but Forge is currently the most popular one. There is a link above on getting Fabric mods if you would rather use that mod loader.
You can find a link to download Forge in the description above. That will actually take you to our complete text guide on getting Forge. This allows us to ensure that this guide will still work well into the future as the text guide will always be up-to-date. On our website click on the “Download Forge” button to be taken to Forge’s official download page.
On this page, start by selecting the Minecraft version you want to download Forge for on the left-hand side. Then, come under “Download Latest” and click on the “Installer” button. This will take you off to AdFocus where you want to wait about 10 seconds and click the “Skip Ad” button in the top right. Forge will start downloading
From there, we can install Forge. To do this, right-click on the Forge installer you downloaded, click on Open With and select Java. Then, click “Okay”. If you don’t have Java, you can download it from the description.
All you need to do now with the Forge Mod System Installer open is click on “Install Client” and click “Okay”. Forge will install allowing you to get Minecraft mods in 2024.
At this point, we can go over how to download mods on Minecraft PC in 2024. This is super easy as well. There are links in the description above to CurseForge and Modrinth where you can download thousands of different Minecraft mods. Just keep in mind that any mods you download must be for the Forge mod loader and the version of Minecraft you installed Forge for.
Something else worth mentioning in regards to how to download Minecraft mods in 2024 is that a lot of mods have “Compatibility” or “Library” mods that are required in order for the to work. These can sometimes be difficult to find and cause your Minecraft mods to not work.
With your mods downloaded though and Forge installed, we can move on to how to install mods in Minecraft 2024. Start off by opening up Minecraft using the Forge installation in the Minecraft Launcher. Then, on the Minecraft main menu, click on the “Mods” button. This will open your Minecraft mods menu.
In the bottom left of the mods menu, you will see a “Mods Folder” button. Click that to open your Minecraft mods folder. Drag-and-drop any Minecraft mods you want to install into this mods folder. It’s that easy to install Minecraft Mods on PC.
To use your mods, ou still need to restart Minecraft making sure to play with your “Forge Installation” in order to activate the Minecraft mods.

i did everything you instructed in the video but when I try to launch minecraft with forge, it always crashes. ive uninstalled forge, deleted every mod off my computer, ive done the windows key + R and deleted every mod in the mod folder for .minecraft. I have done everything and my game still fails to launch. am I doing something wrong? I have made sure everything is the same version and latest version as well.

Try to change the Java executable path.
Under installations, go to Forge and click the three dots.
Say edit. Go to more options.
At the Java executable box click browse. Your file explorer will open.
Go to wherever your Program Files folder is stored on your PC.
Find the Java folder, then go to the folder named "jdk-17". Inside there, click "bin"
Scroll down in the bin folder until you find "javaw.exe". Double click that.
After that I have not experienced crashing.

yeah but only shaders that curseforge provide (while browsing mods click on filters and make it shaders only)
you just assumed i had Java and messed up the steps to make it easier to understand
the mod i want to use is on1.12 and the open mods folder option aint coming up😭😭
i've seen a few ppl have this problem, so here's a solution:
1. go to windows search and type run
2. open it and type exactly %appdata%
3. click okay and there should be a folder that says .minecraft
4. open that and scroll down until you see a folder that says mods
5. then just add in ur mods and run minecraft launcher :)

Hi so I'm very new to Minecraft on PC and I have downloaded Java, java 21, java fix, fabric, fabric api, etc. I've followed long with your videos and I got the Xaero mini map to work and I was able to get the Nature's compass mod to work but I want a bunch of other mods as well. And I can't seem to figure out...
1. how to make all my mods be on one Minecraft world.

Yes, that happened for my brother too. It worked after we got glitch core. It's the same process as downloading all the other mods, make sure it's the version you want and is also forge. just add to the mods folder, restart app, and it should work

Question, do the mods like citadel need to be included in the mods folder? My game has crashes several times. EDIT: so i seemed to have fixed it, but one mod doesn't seem to work. It's called "Hamster Plus" and i downloaded the 1.20.1 Version (this is also my forge version as most of the mods i want are still in 1.20.1). I will try out some more mods and see if they have the same problem.
EDIT2: So..seems like the Hamster mod was really the one that broke it. Ice and Fire mod also doesn't seem to work (even though both are 1.20.1... i will check with Support of both of these mods later today)

Hello guys. i hope this is being read, i have an issue with installing forege. everything went smooth until the isntalation part where we make a new instalation with 1.20.4-forge, click create, play and play again. the instalation will now install on my screen, open up, and crash with exitcode 1. i dont really know what happened here, and i would really appreciate any support.
i tried this on 3 different dates with 3 newly updated versions of forge 1.20.4 and got nothing new.
If Minecraft gets a new version, do you have to reinstall the modloader for that new version?

I've downloaded, modded, installed, and ran the game thru forge, just like i do with WoW, and in WoW it just works, and here I am looking at a video telling you how to do it and I've installed the visual mod, the most popular one on forge, and ran the game THRU that very mod, and its just normal minecraft and not at all modded in any way.
I'm doing this THRU forge, so 99% of this video is pointless, you don't go to a website, you go THRU the app, where you don't have to worry about versions, but you aren't telling me how to do that.
In no way has this video helped me. I still have no clue how to mod and play minecraft using the actual app that is designed to do it and I use that app with WoW and NONE of the things you say make any sense. You don't have to dl java, its just there, and supported, thru forge, but here you are making us do 30 extra steps and idk why and idk why you haven't considered telling ppl how to use the forge app to mod minecraft when that's what its for.
Literally zero clue, I watched the entire video. I don't WANT to do all the useless bs you say to do.
