Team Reptile brings you Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, 1 second per second of highly advanced funkstyle. In a world from the mind of Dion Koster, where self-styled crews are equipped with personal boostpacks, new heights of graffiti are reached. Start your own cypher and dance, paint, trick, face off with the cops and stake your claim to the extrusions and cavities of a sprawling metropolis in an alternate future set to the musical brainwaves of Hideki Naganuma.

Edit: Dang, a year later and this got 5k likes. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk feels like so much more than just a Jet Set Radio 3. I'm still super hyped for this.
Damn. And here he is working on the soundtrack. I bet when they got in touch with him for this, he started laughing his ass off, called Sega, said "I told you so", then hung up and laughed some more.
We are pretty much in the era of "Company who owns the IP people want games for aren't making more, so someone else goes out and does it instead.".

I like how we are at a point in time where game development technology is advanced enough that Indie studios or smaller studios staffed by industry veterans can make spiritual sequels or sometimes straight up sequels for your favorite games. So now practically no series is truly dead anymore.
Whats even cooler is when some of these revival type games surpass those original ones. With the benefit of today's knowledge and technology
What upsets me about this, is some fans are doing some of this stuff solo with a fraction of a budget, if any at all. With no support from the public. And sometimes it still turns out better than actual games from the given series.

The upside down grinding is so cool, I hope this really opens up level design and gets us to some trippy spaces.
Yeah it looks hype. Upside down grinding seems like a amazing concept as a way to keep combos if they keep the combo system or more importantly as a way to keep grinding with speed. So far it seems like the devs are actually improving on the jet set radio formula instead of copying it note to note. Thats making me so hyped.
I personally am not a fan of how it looks. But im still gonna buy the game and believe in the devs. Looks like a massive improvement compared to jsrf
It’s freaking crazy. I remember playing JSRF in 2002-2003 thinking that the crazy grinds they introduced would naturally lead to upside down grinding in JSR3. Team Reptile clearly thought the same.

i think this system is like... you have a bunch of different tags you can throw but it depends on what lines you cross. It definitely makes for more creativity and I’m super excited!

Honestly I want both types there. For smaller tags one button press should be good enough, but for bigger tags you have to stop and do this button combo/Line draw in order to pull it off.

@@ES21007 The original JSR had "1 press" tags, it's the camera that was weird on those.
Honestly, the more important thing to me is allow for free roaming and NG+. By the time you unlock all the characters in JSRF, you have nothing left to tag... But JSR lets you NG+ with everyone, just that you're forced to go through the levels one at a time again.

I cannot express my hype enough for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. I can't even put it nto words... Jet Set Radio is and will always be my top game of all time and to finally see a true spiritual successor almost 20 years later WITH THE SAME COMPOSER Hideki Naganuma is something I've never thought I'd see again. Don't disappoint Team Reptile.

@@dariendude17 Actually I think the developers said the characters use "soap shoes," they were a short-lived trend in the 90's but people who used them fondly remember them. They're basically shoes designed for grinding on rails.

so originally parkour was the only method of transportation and not only could you grind while parkouring you could vault objects too, interesting.
It makes me a little sad because I feel they could have expanded more there. They could have added walljumps to get to high places that require you to be on foot. Being able to climb specific places, more platforming. Just the simple fact of not being able to grind a rail on foot makes me sad, if there was an option to pass the game without using transportation I would have used it because I would love to escape from the police on foot or just be a pseudo Sonic the hedgehog.

People hate the graffiti sequence already, I remember tweeting months ago that I would much prefer JSRF. But it was more of "I don't want the JSR tagging system." This literally is NOT that bad. Assuming that's it's entirety. It doesn't seem unnecessarily lengthy like JSR's.
I agree. JSRF is much more fluid and fast-paced and the graffiti shown here looks like it won't disrupt the flow of the gameplay.
