'Dancing Queen' is pretty much the gold standard of the perfect pop song.
It really is. I will sing this joint in my head for DAYS after listening to this just now.
agree
Beautiful music period
...
If this isn't played at my funeral I'm coming back to haunt the fuckers.
@@donelliot5726 🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏
This was in response to the disco dancing craze of the late 1970s. Many groups released disco songs to capitalize on it, but everyone agrees that this is the best of them.
Well, this was recorded in August of 1975. However, the beat was indeed inspired by the rhythm and blues and funk of the time (while the melody and harmonies were more akin to Swedish/North European schlager music).
Just know that at one time ABBA was the top act in the world. They need no second chance from the likes of you.
The greatest POP group of all times.
Benny Anderson is phenomenal on the keys. He incorporates a lot of classical movements in his playing.
Another ABBA song "Knowing Me, Knowing You".
for sure
"The winner takes it all"
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes, the best thing they ever did. By far. You can feel the emotion in it.
A much better song by them for sure!
ABBA have more brillant songs that only one
My Top 5:
Waterloo
S.O.S.
Dancing Queen
The winner takes it all
Hole in your soul (live version)
So glad you have given ABBA a second listening as they were truely one of the greatest of all time. In terms of world wide sale possibly only beaten by Elvis, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and possibly Queen. Although their total time together as a band was shorter than any of the others. They are known for the very pop sound with the likes of Dancing Queen, Mama Mia and Voulez Vous. But their range of songs is vast and diverse. Early stuff is almost rock A good example being Hole in your Soul (live version amazing). Heart renching ballads such as I've been waiting for you, The Winner takes it All and the Day before You Came. To darker and eerie with Like An Angel Passing through my Room, The Visitors and Soldiers. Have fun discovering their music you wont be disapointed.
They are very late 70s - somewhere between pop and disco. As an old school metal rocker, this song is like a secret shame. It's kind of a perfect pop piece.
Well, this was recorded in 1975. (The group that come to be known as ABBA had been performing together since the summer of 1970. Björn and Benny had been writing songs together since 1966.)
There is a very informative documentary about Abba, in which it is particularly about the "production" of their music.
Spoiler alert: hard work
My favorite Abba song was S.O.S. - also a great pop song - don't miss it. Great production, harmonies, musicianship and melody
This band is legendary
Anglo-American number one for this most seventies of pop groups. Even today this is my childhood penned in joy.
I’m going to write this before I see your reaction. I consider this one of the pop masterpieces of the last 50 years. I don’t care what anyone else says. It is an extremely well-written melody. And I think the words fit the tune well.
My favorite ABBA song and my favorite POP song when I was young. Great memories for me with this song.
350,000,000 records sold woridwide-one of the Superbands
Once again, this is a song that came out BEFORE music videos were a thing. So once video overtook radio as a means to sell records, the industry created videos after the fact. What you often get is studio recordings, over a live performance and sometimes it’s done poorly. Music videos was an ‘80s thing and disco reached its peak in the ‘70s.
Dancing Queen one of the greatest pop songs ever. You broke it down beautifully. ABBA has dozens and dozens of hits, and hundreds of songs. I think you will enjoy another pop standard : SOS. Also Eagle, So Long, Arrival(a stirring instrumental), Voulez Vous and Gimme Gimme Gimme. Benny Andersson, keyboards and songwriter, Bjorn Ulvaeus guitar and lyrics. Prolific songwriting duo. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: inducted 2010. The beautiful ladies are Agnetha ( blonde) and Anni-Frid( redhead). The incredible volume of music is all theirs. As far as I know, they never covered anyone else’s music. The fact that you are reacting to their music 39 years after they broke up( 1982), stands as a testament to the timeless quality of the music.
It has this melancholy undertone that’s married to this wonderful 🎶 melody that’s undeniable..
Other ABBA songs I like: “The Name of the Game”; “SOS”; “Knowing me, Knowing you“; “ Fernando“; a surprisingly rocking tune that was the first Abba song I liked is “Waterloo“; “Mama Mia” - (A movie and musical named after this song.) I also like “money, money, money“.
Yes. The name of the Game and Fernando. I might add. "The Winner Takes it all"
@@larryfoster3172 👍 yes
Wow, you listed some of the ABBA songs I really can't stand: Fernando, Waterloo, Money money, Knowing me.... (I like 60-70% of their other stuff though, especially the non-hits.)
@@herrbonk3635 ok, to each his own. I do like some catchy songs.Give me four or five of your favorites please, (since I listed some). If you give me some names I don’t know I’ll go check them out. I would enjoy that.
@@mickeyhank I exaggerated a little. I actually enjoy the first two in your list, and Mama mia too. It's mainly Money Money I *really* can't stand, musically. And although I do find "Fernando" kind of corny and obsessed about, it still has musical qualities. (The similar Andante andante is more beautiful, to me, for instance.)
I'm probably not able to single out five, so here are a bunch of favourites:
"The Visitors", "Summer night city", "Lay all your love on me", "Soldiers", "My love my life", "Our last summer", "One of us", "The piper", "One man one woman", "Happy new year", "Eagle", "As good as new", "Head over heels", "Lovers live a little longer", "Slipping through my fingers", "Two for the price of one", "The day before you came", "The king has lost his crown", "When all is said and done", "If it wasn't for the nights", "That's me". Also somewhat more old fashioned ones, like "He's your brother", "Why Did It Have to Be Me", "My mama said", "Disillusion", "People need love", even some of the really silly ones, like "Nina pretty ballerina" and "Dum Dum diddle" :D
The quintessential dance number. Guaranteed to get anyone on the dancefloor. Except me!!! Can't stand dancing. 🤪 Love ABBA though, so many great songs. Try "Thank You For The Music" and "The Winner Takes it All".
Aww dancing is fun. We usually dont dance when we are so self conscious. I admire the audience as they dance away. I was too scared to dance to this when young, but not anymore , I dance like I'm 17 again to this song. Try it when no ones around and just have fun.
Don't forget, Abba is not only a unbelievable great studio band, they are also more than just talented if you see them live. I highly suggest live at Wembley Hole in your soul,
Try "Waterloo", "Fernando", "Knowing Me, Knowing You" or "SOS".
High school dances and Abba,,,,great memories. 🦋✌🦋
I couldn't agree more with you, the bass parts is what stands out for me ,but it's all solid! The groove to the best is really nice too along with the orchestral strings and arrangements! Melody soaring all over the place!🎶🎵🕺
You had to be there. It was excitement and fun dancing to these tunes.
Different ABBA vibe on "Winner takes it all" .
A great song. Their best.
Omg memories of my very early teen years I used to dance to this. Now I'm 56 years had back surgery neck surgery so all I can is tap my feet thank you for that. Great reactions great music
Best of all music🎈🎈🎈.I still getting goosebumps wen listening with my headphones yeah🤩🤩

the official video of
"Dancing Queen"
the biggest global success of ABBA
exceeded 500,000,000 views on CZcams
and #ABBA remastered it in HD
Spectacular image, it's like being there with Them
thanks so much to ABBA
and congratulations to
Agnetha Fälkstog
Benny Andersson
Björn Ulvaeus
Anni Frid Lyngstad
I challenge any normal person to listen to this song and not smile ABBA is happy music and when the musical MAMMA MIA was touring everyone was on their feet and dancing to this song and left the theater with a huge grin
This was one of those songs that got everyone on the dance floor. Pure joy!
ABBA is my guilty pleasure.
Well, I guess ABBA scored on this, because I noticed you were dancing in your seat! When ya get it ya get it!"🎶🕺🎵
ABBA's best song!!!!!
best regards from
Buenos Aires, Argentina
How good your attitude of openness to listening to ABBA again
Although the Swedish group identifies with pop, it is very versatile of musical genres: rock, disco, ballad, folk, pop, dark etc.
Maybe in your previous reaction to "Take a chance on me" the video distracted you (in some cases the officer is not the most suitable, and it is better to see one of his presentations for TV)
"Take a chance on me" was his best-selling song in the US. and it reached # 3 on Billboard
"Dancing Queen" is for many his best song as well as his biggest world hit
It is his only # 1 on Billboard, a market that was always elusive to ABBA
As you can see, the singers do their best harmonization of voices
The blonde Agnetha is a soprano and the brunette Frida is a mezzo soprano
And in the different sections of the song, one raises the register of it to reach the other and vice versa
I also agree that the piano is vital, it is a characteristic in ABBA's songs, it marks the melodies and the style
There is so much to recommend from ABBA. Definitely check these out:
- The Winner Takes It All [pick the official music video]
- Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) [pick the full 5 minute version, not the shorter music video]
- Voulez-Vous
- The Name of the Game
- Chiquitita
- Knowing Me, Knowing You
- The Day Before You Came
- Money, Money, Money
- Eagle [pick the full 6 minute version, not the short music video]
- Lay All Your Love on Me
- Summer Night City
- Super Trouper
- Waterloo
- The Way Old Friends Do (live) [the version from the Super Trouper album]
all this...
and "S.O.S." !!! and "Mamma mia"
don't forgive this iconic song
7th Grade danced with Deneen .....still love this song
The Who guitarist Pete Townshend has said "SOS" is one of the best pop songs ever written,
adding that when he first heard the song he "was transported by it".
Ray Davies of The Kinks said that he was taken with the song after seeing the group perform it on the BBC television show Seaside Special.
John Lennon has also said the same about ABBA´'s song "SOS"
So a reaction to this may not be entirely wrong. 🧐
Wilburn they've got a lot of hit songs and hidden gems too. The hit songs need no mention, for a few gems start of with "the piper," "the king has lost his crown," or "hole in the soul." There's so many... "the day before you came," "adante adante" you'll just have to try out a few and see what you like. Singing, synchronicity and instruments are all great regardless of song.
ABBA 'Lay All Your Love On Me'
My second favorite ABBA song, after this is SOS.
I agree
1) S.O.S.
2/3) Waterloo and Dancing Queen
4) The winner takes it all
Excellent choice for a reaction video. Another song by ABBA (Anni-Freid, Benny, Bjorn and Agnetha) I recommend is, "The Winner Takes It All".
I grew up listening to the vinyl of ABBA's album Voulez-Vous so most of my favorites are on that album. If I had to pick one off that album, you should listen to Does Your Mother Know.
If you like a few stringed instruments in your music, have you listened to Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)? If not, why not. Pick any song of theirs; they're all good, such as Last Train to London, Evil Woman, Do Ya. The list goes on forever.
The Beatles set the standard so you had to keep up or fade away.
Oh Lord, another rabbit hole my friend. I Think Fernando is maybe my favorite ABBA song
All reactors tend to fall into the ABBA rabbit hole. A group you can't nail down. ABBA: What genre? OK, we'll do that.
"Lovers live a little longer" is another one with an interesting sound, not to mention "the visitors." Imo "the winner takes it all" is one of their better power ballads and hits.
dancing queen is the best studio recording in modern recording
Mama Mia from ABBA
Try Fernando by ABBA
Forgot another underappreciated one, “Why Did it Have to be Me?”
Oh yeah...Frida in Australia. Taking the stage and owning it. Her shorts really were, like, short.
You're kind of describing Phil Spector's "wall of sound," I think. That was a long time ago, but it was his signature achievement.
Can you do reactions to “Mamma Mia” and “The winner takes it all”? Both are from ABBA too
"Fernando" is another great song.
I love Fernando and SOS and Does Your Mother Know.
Why does everyone smile when listening to this? It is just one of those very few songs that can do this.
Hello sir each member took the first letter of their first name to create the name Abba and their names are as follows Agnetha Anni Benny and Bjorn just thought you might want to know that...be well
"I Know There's Something Going On" by Anni Frid recorded after she left the group is worth a listen.👍👍
Hard rock guys hated them but im a rock guy myself i loved abba there harmony was off the chain
Yes their productions and harmonies are legendary. As a contrast Listen to My Mama Said from '74 next, they were not as "polished" then but you can hear how they were absorbing so many influences from all over.
You need to listen to "ALONE". Excellent and powerful!
You realllly need to listen to Fernando by Abba
Knowing Me Knowing You or SOS - try them.
good job!!
Thanks
Chiquitita!!!! It's a masterpiece
Chiquita another worldwide known song by ABBA you might wanna try listen to.
You should check out (Does your mother know)👍🏼
For a song featuring the blond "Agnetha" I'd suggest "The Winner Takes It All". For on featuring "Frida" the one with Red-Brown hair try "Knowing Me, Knowing You". They are two of the best singers in "Pop Royalty". Their harmony's is called the "ABBA-VOICE". And they could and did do it live just check out " ABBA Dancing Queen Live Australia 77 " ---> czcams.com/video/VcYLc7nbJxQ/video.html . The band is legendary. Tanks for the ABBA.
May I respectfully suggest ALONE by Heart? Top notch vocals, top notch rock
Oh my man, it’s time you BLOW UP......ROUNDABOUT by YES. Fragile album. 1971.
@Folker Winkelmann You are funny. As an ABBA loving YES fan I would say: my favorite ABBA video is (currently) "One Of Us" (where Agnetha is setting up her new apartment). As an old bone, I like the "extra long epic" songs by YES. But I could imagine that Wilburn likes songs like "Machine Messiah" or maybe "Shoot High, Aim Low" better.
I was never a fan but liked this one ☮️💜
S.o.S. and the visitors
From what I understand they didn’t speak a word of English at the time this song came out. They eventually learned to speak it quickly.
Three could, this czcams.com/video/nk691vvS0kwv/video.html was from the year before Dancing Queen came out. They speak English too well to have just started.
Try *Fernando* or *Chiquitita* They are great storytelling. Especially the first.
You should check out *Kool and The Gang*
Watch the movie "Mama mia" withe Meryl Streep & Amanda Seyfried & you'll get a better idea of who Abba are.
Try 'Amos Moses' Jerry Reed
Listen to the baseline of "We Belong" by Pat Benatar.
ABBA was incredibly popular in the mid seventies but they weren't my cup of tea. No band reminds me of my daily school bus ride in jr. High.
Can you please react to Robyn's song called Indestructible
Please
I agree "Take a chance" is a weak song for being Abba. If you want the good tunes, you have to listen through their whole LP/CDs! They have many beautiful compositions. (Their biggest hits are often their more boring ones.)
"Feel the beat of the tambourine"?
Kill me now...
No voice overs. Singers had to sing.
My bad CHOd.... ALONE is a song bty HEART not ABBA.... I'm Not a big ABBA fan...........
The only Abba song that I really like is The Winner Takes it All. This is disco crap. Better than 95% of it because they can sing but still disco crap.
