  • Program screenshot is in the end of the video. This clock has two hands - hours and minutes. For simplicity of the gearing the hands are not located on one axis. Please drop a comment, if you want a video, where hands are located like on normal clocks.
One motor is used. To get the ratio of 1:12, three gear pairs are used: two with ratio 1:2 and one with ratio 1:3. These ratios multiply and make up 1:12.
LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set 45544 is used.
Regarding the program - each minute we rotate the minute hand by 360/60 = 6 degrees. The motor is connected to minute hand via wormgear assembly that has ratio 1:24, thus each minute the motor should turn by 6 * 24 = 144 degrees. In my experience 5 is the minimal speed at which EV3 motors run smoothly, if your's does not, increase the speed. The program is made in a way, that exactly every 60 seconds the motor will start rotating. This time is not influenced by actual time that motor runs.
