- ‘Ello baby, did you miss me? In this episode, we’re taking a look and ranking all of Kano’s finishers across all of the Mortal Kombat games. We’re going to see how much variation the Black Dragon leader has when it comes to finishing them. Which finisher is the best? Which one is the worst? As a Kano main I will say his fatalities always seemed underwhelming to me. But I did love the beer bottle one in mk 11. Even though it didn't show off any of his powers it had all his personality

I agree the only ones I really like are the heart rip from MK9, the beer bottle dance in MK11 and the one where he cuts you open in mkx
Kano always seems to have one pretty good one, and one kinda shitty one. It feels weird to me. Kano has so many possibilities. He's got gadgets, weapons, knives, a fucking laser eye. But they never seem to do too many cool things with it. Hell they don't even need to be inheritly cool, make them cut throat and brutal.
@@antonymilne1346 Hey, it's kinda like how he's treated in lore! He gets one or a maximum of two great involvements in the story and then Netherrealm just gives up! (Same goes for Midway I suppose)
Between giving Kabal his equipment in MK9 and getting his ass beat, giving a scar to Sub-Zero and getting his ass beat in the comics, stealing Shinnok's amulet and getting his ass beat in MKX and finally getting a shit ton of screentime in MK11 still getting beaten and then gets removed in the most bullshit "the writers just wanted him out" way possible.
Nightwolf is in a similar boat I think. A Native American warrior with a whole array of weapons, animal spirit, and literal God feels like a recipe for badass fatalities but they miss the mark a LOT.
I do respect how the MK developers tried to (mostly) focus on his personality when making his fatality’s, because Kano is a sloppy fighter. But his fatality’s should have been more brutal than lazy.
I do agree with you there. Hopefully we can get some over-the-top ones for him soon!

9:32 fun fact, this fatality was done by Scorpion in the trailer of the game.
So I think Netherrealm just went "oh, wait, we can't give the figurehead mascot of the franchise such a basic fatalify" and instead of scrapping it, they simply handed it off to the closest character that could use it. That being Kano. And, I mean, who's ever really gonne care, right? He had worse ones.
Yeah, I always thought that was interesting. Along with that, if you look at the E3 gameplay reveal, Scorpion's grabs in that build are actually Kano's grab animations. The more you know!
I like the simplicity of Kano's first fatality from MKX
Man this series is really entertaining, I'm hooked. In my personal opinion I think Baraka has a lot of really cool finishers, looking forward for his video!

Kano for me is that character that u hate in certain games but love in others. Love using him in MK11 but hated him in Deadly Alliance and MK vs DC for example..

I kinda think of that interaction like “that’s not a skeleton, this is a skeleton.”
Kano and his heart rip were literally an homage to the first Terminator movie. In one of the first scenes of the original Terminator movie, the T-800 encounters a group of thugs and rips one of their hearts out. Add this to the fact that Kano's faceplate and eye were meant to make him look like the Terminator.
I love how all #1s are consistent they show the best of the character

Also I'm know you're gonna finish MK1 first, but I'd still love to see Kung Lao first when you hit MK2! It's...not a great time to be a Kung Lao fan right now, we could use a W 🤣😭
Yeah, I would’ve love to see more laser-eye finishers or something. And yeah, Kung Lao is someone people have been asking me for. Don’t worry, he’s coming soon!
i would have a fatality where kano shoves an explosive into the opponents guts and hitting it with his eye, all that is left is the opponents arm, which flies into the air, he catches it and makes the hand do something funny, like flip the bird or a thumbs up
For extra weirdness, Jarek in MK4 was trained by Kano, and he uses double eye lasers in one of his fatalities, despite not actually having artificial eyes.
This was great. I also really enjoyed the funny edits you put in like the “look at it” bit!!

Kano's fatality from MKX also returned as a brutality in MK11. The one where he throws his shanks into his opponent's head and then the way they fell to the floor. That's what I thought when I saw the Brutal Blade brutality 😁
Well, it is amazing, but the bad part is that my favourite character is one of the new ones, erron black, I really like him but I don't think it's enough for him to be covered up in a video, since he doesn't have a lot of finishers
I agree 100% with the intro he's hated by everyone but he's the fan favorite and one of the best characters in the game

As a fellow knife chucker I have to say that I love Kano's knife fatalities. He is usually the only character who uses a weapons. But they are his signature so it makes sense to use them.

Ok, this vid is awesome and has a lot of great stuff. There's just one tiny thing that irrationally annoys me to the point where I gotta say something to enjoy the rest in pure bliss. I'm far from a knife expert, but I am pretty confident that Kano's style of knife isn't a butterfly knife. Mainly because the kind of knife I'm familiar with as a butterfly knife is one of my favorites and I'd maybe like to get a prop/pen/fork version of that style to just have fun with(if you need a mental image of what I thought a butterfly knife is, think the spy from tf2). Again, I fully admit that I'm neither an expert on knives and that none of this matters in the long run. It was mostly that if I didn't say anything it'd be stuck in the back of my head and I wouldn't get as much happiness out of the vid as I really want to/should.

What I feel gets overlooked with Kano is that he is sadistic. His Fatalities have a tendency to make the opponent suffer until they die, which is why one’s like the head bashing, and even the rib stomp rank higher for me; they are brutal deaths you will feel to the last second. I know the rib crush from MKvDC is visually underwhelming, but I cringed when I first saw it. The opponent would by lying there, trying to breathe painfully through their crushed ribs and lungs and would slowly suffocate if they didn’t die on impact.
I find Kano can be underwhelming sometimes, which frustrates me because he is a fun, dark character. He needs fatalities that really draw on his sadistic mindset or aggressive Aussie nature; the kind that picks fights coz you talked to his girl in a way he doesn’t like.

Butterfly knives are folding flick knives and Kano has always been known for headbutts, I assume because of his metal plates adding to the damage

Kanos head heart rip means a lot to me because when scorpion originally used it in the mk9 trailer that was the first time violence actually disturbed me and even to this day
I totally forgot to mention Scorpion did it first in the CG MK 2011 trailer. It really did show how violent MK would become in the new era.

Kano has had a lot of good fatalities. I’m a fan of about half of them. This time around, I’ve made a proper list. I also decided to go back and do the same in other videos, editing my comments to showcase more proper of where I stand on the other characters finishers.
1. Heartbreak (MK9)
• this one is brutal, quick, and very Kano. And it involves the heart! Digging through your back, showing you your still beating heart, then crushes it. A masterpiece if ever I’ve seen it.
2. Head Case (MKX)
• I really like this one as it has a nice flow to it unlike others(looking at both of Scorpion’s fatalities). It’s a nice sequence.
3. Eye Laser (MK3)
• This one like many of the good klassics is quick, brutal, and to the point.
4. Heart Rip (V)
• This is up there with the toasty and spine rip for me. Kano rips out your still beating heart. It’s beautiful🥲
5. Eat Your Heart Out (MK9)
• This one is pretty good. I like how aggressive he is when doing this one lol. However, I can help but think of Scorpion performing it in that one trailer of MK9.
6. Knife to Meet You (MKX)
• I know people gonna disagree with this one. But I like it. Better to be short and simple than long and drawn out for the sake of “ohhhhhh gore!” This is similar to the MKvsDC one, but better. I like the gargling choking noise of the first knife being thrown in the neck. Then after the second, the opponent falls face first and the knives I guess are pushed through the face and neck.
7. Last Dance (MK11)
• this is the start of the ones I don’t like, but this one isn’t that bad. He just stabs you with a bottle and kindly takes you out for one last dance before you bleed out. What a guy. It’s sweet, but not my favorite 😂
8. Skeleton Rip (MK3)
• I don’t mind silly fatalities, but this one is just real dumb to me lol. And I also don’t think this was meant to be funny. Not a fan. Still better than when Sub-Zero did it.
9. Knife Toss (MKvsDCU)
• now this one I can see why someone would complain about it being dull. It just doesn’t do anything to have it stand out.
10. Face like A Dropped Pie (MK11)
• I hate this one so much. They could have at least shown the characters faces being more and more messed up with every headbutt. He just rubs is some on theirs until they blow up. Terrible fatality.
11. Organ Donor (MKDA)
• what is this? Why?
12. Flip Stomp (MKvsDCU)
• wow…I always say how MKvsDC get a ton of unjustified crap, but this one actually has a reason for being hated. Who thought of this?? He rolls you over then with all his might he jumps on you? What? Why not just like…I dunno….have him laser eye the opponent until they’re either burnt to a crisp or turned into a skeleton? That would’ve been way better!

I’ve said this before, but I really hate how the heart thing has basically been stripped from Kano starting in MKX. They basically gave it to Kotal Kahn. I hate that! And gives me even more reason to resent him.
I agree. I feel that was the reason the team didn't give Kano a heart rip was because of Kotal Kahn.
That's probably true, but makes sense why. In Mortal Kombat 1 Kano's heart rip fatality was based off of the Calima Aztec scene from Indiana Jones. Kotal is Aztec inspired; even though he's "Oshtek." It makes more sense to give it to Kotal Kahn from a character perspective, but it's a Kano Klassic and Kotal is NO klassic... 😆
Do you think the head butt fatality would have felt more personal and better if he cut the head off at the neck with his laser, and then head butted it while holding it in his hands?
Maybe incorporating something with the laser eye after a couple of head butts would be nice.
I wonder if NRS would ever create a viking inspired character. The blood eagle would make a truly awesome fatality. Having them kick the opponent down to the ground and then proceed to cut open the his/her back would be a gruesome way to end them. It could be almost as bad as Ermac's in MKX.

Honestly, I have an idea for one of Kano's fatalities in MKVSDC. He does his cannon ball attack to knock them down, then either snap their neck with his boot or throw a knife into their head
I disagree on the head butt fatality. It fits Kano very well. I mean, he doesn't have that metal plate on his head for nothing. Ever since the first game where he had that head butt move, I wanted to see a fatality that made use of it, and I'm glad it finally happened.
Yeah, i’ve started to enjoy that fatality more as time went on.

Really nice job once again. I don't think he has had many good fatalities and I perhaps would have put the original fatality at position 2 I do agree with your number one pick. I guess I am the only one who likes the headbutt fatality. I have always thought of him as a bit of a thug and thought it would be a thuggish thing to do so that is why I like it.

Kano will always be my fave. it makes me sad the writing for his stories are usually bad and fatalities are usually hated as it makes me worry he wont be included in future titles.

I’m actually working on a… wait, perhaps I said too much.
I don't know if someone pointed this out to you yet or not... but those are NOT butterfly knives. A butterfly knife has 2 handles that swing around the blade, along with a clip to hold them together. These handles allow for the blade to be stored between them, and are very popular for doing tricks with. Look up the Spy from Team Fortress 2, his default melee weapon is what a butterfly knife is.

The Headbut one from MK11 would have been nice if he would have headbutted the enemie and as final blow just shoots the laser right in his face which makes the head explode

The krators of mortal kombat should really look into cartel murder videos. I think those executions can fit Kano very well.
Those could be interesting to look at, but I think the team is looking for more over-the-top ways for fatalities and not some that are too real. But things could change soon!

Rewatching this video again, while I still agree it needs to be at the bottom overall for Kano, I will justify slightly the MK vs. DC stomp.
Notice Kano's character design has the knives on his boots with the points down. My theory of what they were going for is that when he lands on his victim, the knives are positioned lower than usual, thus he is doing a stomp/stab combo.
If that is what it was it wasn't implemented well, but it's still how I saw it personally.

Scorpion did Sub-Zero's spine rip fatality in Deception
And in the MK9 trailer, Scorpion did the head and heart rip fatality that has ben given to Keno in the final game.
