    having played both, the main difference is that in ETS you have maybe a few hours leeway on your delivery schedule, whereas in ATS you get a day and a half... In ETS, dispatchers always want it delivered last week, in ATS sometime next month seems to be OK.

      @@leecarrington1932 Yeah, TS should lean more into the time management side of trucking. It feels like you're on a casual sunday drive sighseeing and not on work. The Hard Truck series, although more of an open world racing game series than a straight up simulator, spiced things up with strict time limits and delivery competitions with other truckers.

    • @Winchester1979
      @Winchester1979 Před rokem +77

      IIRC both ATS and ETS2 uses the same formula to calculate how long the delivery should take, which is an average of 60 kph/40 mph. Given that some states allow you to go almost twice that fast on the interstates, you'll never be in danger of being late unless you drive like a grandma in ATS, or on specific delivery routes (across the mountains between Nevada and Colorado for example). In ETS2, it's a bit easier to be late, since you can actually be forced to use roads where you can't go faster than the calculated average. (Germany has a speed limit of 60 kph if you're in a truck off the highways.

    In ATS youre basically only driving on highways with the occasional chicane or city (which can get boring fast due to the fact that half the map is forests or desert) and thats coming from someone who has all map dlc's + Promods Canada
    In ETS outside of western Europe driving is pretty involving and interesting (+Europe just has more interesting scenery in general although ATS also has it's moments)

    • @computer_toucher
      @computer_toucher Před 3 měsíci

      No, you're not REQUIRED to stay in the right lane. It's just that most highways have 100-120 Km/h speed limits, and you're not allowed to go faster than 80 or 90, depending on the country. You are allowed to overtake in the left lane, it's just that you're not allowed to hinder traffic by being too slow either - which is why you /mostly/ stay to the right. If you've ever driven on the Autobahn or other places in Europe, you've experienced the annoyance of the semi that's overtaking another by going 2 Km/h faster than the one on the right lol.

  • @JVerschueren
    @JVerschueren Před rokem +4

    1:46 you need to come to a full stop before proceeding into the junction. You made a "rolling stop" both times, so you got randomly fined once, just like running a red light in ETS2. Now, in real life, cops will usually not fine you, certainly not when you drive an 18-wheeler and the junction was clear, but, technically, they could and you know the game is zero tolerance when it comes to fines.
    6:08 don't go completely into the turn lane and take a wider swing... extra points if you can knock over the white on blue arrow in the centre with the trailer's headboard. (Yes, I'm such a child* 😁).
    I think in most cases the ETS player is the same person as the ATS player, so, unless we all have split personalities, I think it's futile to look for differences or stereotypes.
    (*): That said, in real life, I think I'd be sorely tempted to "tweak" inconveniently placed road furniture, just to make a point.

      For the first one, you don't get a fine or not stopping. The fine was about him not turning as tight or as soon as the game wanted.

    What I have learned based off this video: According to stereotypes ATS seems to be for the people actually wanting to play the game like a truck sim, no speeding and realistic driving. ETS2 seems to be more for those that want to play a truck sim more as a racing game, this is only further proved y ETS2 online

    What I enjoy more in ETS 2 vs ATS are the smaller trucks and loads and the better maneuverability of it. Even though the roads are tighter, I still find it it easier to play than ATS. I got all DLCs for ETS 2 minus Iberia that I'm waiting for a sale on... yet, over 20 hours now and I've only explored 10% of what I have... I want to get more into ATS after that, but I feel at this rate I'll never be done with ETS2, so maybe I need to share the love between the two games a little more, haha.

    I'm doing all those things in both games. and i even do much crazier stuff, Like going over 100 km/h or even over 160 km/h and then making a sharp 90 degree drift turn with fully loaded truck. and then speeding up again to 100 km/h, dodging traffic on the shoulders, going from lane to lane also to dodge traffic, runing red lights. And when and AI run in to me or me in to him, i'm just keep going like if that was just a fly hitting my windshield.

    I play ATS. I like playing on my 65” LG OLED. Night driving is especially realistic because of OLED being a self emissive panel. I’ve also never been in any major wrecks. In fact in the ATS group I’m in on Facebook I see people who’ve tipped their rig over ruining the load and genuinely wonder WTF they were doing lol.
