The Time where Volvo was Valiant and Mercedes was Majestic. I never forget this
Also Swift , Runner , DAV and Ivedo 🤣
My Save Game of ETS2 is from 2012 and my truck is a Valiant Classic (Volvo FH 750 Classic)
@@plamenpavlov4886 dont forget scout (Skoda) as delivery place
Ivedo and Dav but Scania and Man they were always licensed because Germán Truck and Scania existed
Haha yes i remember majestic as well
It still boggles my mind that they've been using the same game engine for 20 years.
Prism has proven to be more versatile than most game engines of the same age, and it's relatively bug free all things considered. Can't say the same for RAGE, which is built on the 20+ year old Angel Engine, and Bethesda's Creation Engine is definitely showing it's age now too.
@@DasBoSchitt2 All of these engines have been upgraded and overhauled over the years, just like the engine SCS uses. I bet that if you were to compare the newest version to the first one, they would seem almost nothing alike. Such as in the case of Valve’s Source engine.
It might use the same name, but to its initial versions, it’s almost like a completely different engine.
The dumb AI hasn’t changed though. Absolutely hate it and have done for 14 years
@@kubamax9kubowski176 i wouldn't compare it to source, even though it kept up incredibly well it's starting to show it's age, i wouldn't even have guessed that ets2 and ats are made in a 20+ year old engine. i guess having your own game engine is absolutely great for developers
@@kubamax9kubowski176 SCS is among the best game companies in all the world.
I remember playing 18 wheels of steel as a kid, didn't really know what to do, so I was just driving around from place to place, I especially loved the atmosphere when it rained, sometimes I would just stop on the side of the road, made tea and listened to the rain. Didn't know ETS is made by the same team.
You were a really strange kid.
@@yourplaydate2653 True, probably a strange adult as well haha.
I'm exactly this way rn. Tea and a drive does me good. 😌
same with 18WoS Haulin, I drived through map and enjoyrd open world with music
I had 18 wheels of steel convoy (i think) and i always liked to get the heat on my ass. Also it was the first game i modded (money cheated through the game files).
Yeah... the old dealers from ETS. I still love them. The always get me nostalgic 😅
It is a shame that they removed them from ETS 2 later with the updates they should bring them back and they may be even better
Yep really miss that
Test drive unlimited 1 style ❤
Omg core memory unlocked haha
@@Phantom-YT19that was my first thought, proper nostalgia
Don’t forget probably one of the most important updates to ATS shortly after it’s release was the re-scale update. The initial game just didn’t seem as big but the rescale update made distances feel so much better
I fully agree, the original 1:35 scale was way too small, the current 1:20 scale is much better but sometimes I wish that it was a little larger like a 1:15 scale.
I remember that. Driving from Los Angeles to Vegas in a few minutes felt so strange
The thing I remember most about ETS (not 2) is that you had to pay in game money for access to any country that wasn't your starting country, although if you picked a really small country it gave you a neighbouring country for free.
I'm also really glad that SCS stopped doing what EA does with sports games, releasing essentially the same game year after year with minor updates, and released a game that they could keep updating for over a decade.
There was a time when games couldn't just be updated over the internet you know. Crazy I know, but that's how it used to be.
@@Seaz333 and what does saying this exactly add?
@@resih900 It add the fact SCS couldn't do that (a single constantly updated game) sooner even if they wanted to.
But still cool they did once they could, sunce some studios don't bother.
@@Seaz333 Exactly
Yeah, but I think they're reallllly starting to stretch the current Truck Simulator games thin. At this point, all they are doing is expanding the map and taxing the already poorly optimized engine to render more than it can take.
18WoS: PTTM is definitely legendary, and had features we dearly miss. CB radio was also there as a new feature. Also, turn lights were a thing, as first game Hard Truck did not have them for player, only for AI traffic. Random events on the road, police really physically pursuiting you if you caused havoc (!), weather forecast, areas with snow in Alaska, quite wide truck customizations, lots of trucks to drive, meeting your own drivers on the roads... Really amazing game and great features for that time.
One of my favorites had it when I was a kid now I just bought it again so happy
CB radio was already present in Across America :)
is it better than long haul? wondering which one to get.
I forget which truck was the "fastest" in Haulin' but I always chose to start in Albuquerque because there was a nice long straight with a slight ramp at some point in the road that caused you to go airborne. And if you met a stater at the right time, they'd pursue you and that ramp would launch them even further causing them to crash lol
I had no idea that SCS did the 18WOS games, or that they started off with games that take place in the US while being a European based company. Always though ETS1 was their first trucking game. Really cool evolution, and still evolving with ATS and ETS2! The future of trucking games will always look promising so long as SCS is around!
Oh the memories.
NPC driver: "Anyone got an update on the traffc situation?"
Me: *gives weather report*
NPC: "Eh... maybe you should take a break."
Hahaahah 4:45 that's my MAN F2000 which I made in Zmodeler2. I remember the big community that we had in Poland around 2006-2008 called HardTruckSite. Good times!
W ogóle mam wrażenie w Haulina nikt nie grał poza Polakami
@@wojciechsontowski5355w ogóle jakby nie patrzeć to w Polsce jest największa chyba społeczność graczy w symulatory jazdy ciężarówką
i remember those driving games were almost always in the bargain bin. i bought one since i was interested in driving games and liked the concept, and now all this time later ETS2 is a class act worthy of being in any gamers play list
18 Wheels of steel pedal to the metal will be remembered forever for me and my brother, we both used to play this game day and night, it was incredible at the time.
I miss those moments
You can see the frame work for both ETS2 and ATS in 18 Wheels of Steel: Hard Truck and its amazing to think they've came along way from just a game about building trucks and driving them across the states to a realistic driving simulator driving from Coast to Coast. I'm glad I found this game.
Ну симулятором я бы все-таки не называл. В отсутствие конкурентов это симулятор, а так дотреализма, что касается физики и работы дальнобойщика ещё очень далеко. До тонкостей ещё далеко.
@@MrKop1986 indeed
Just a little note:
The CB radio existed in both Across America and Pedal to the Metal. You could talk about traffic and weather.
I liked how the load information was floating at the trailers. Fond memories of the earlier versions
Blinkers, Part shops, cb-radio were also in Across America - my favourite game from early 2000s
I can remember my school days sharing ETS2 with other mates and driving while we had classes. Nearly everyone sat there, playing ETS2 with keyboard and having our best times. Man 2012 really was somehow of a nice time.
I’ve gotten so used to driving and backing up with keyboard that it will probably be difficult transitioning to a wheel.
@@AdamsOlympiajust like the broken space key of my old keyboard made me use arrows instead of wsad.
You forgot tell us about the real time police chases in older parts
CB Radio feature was already in the "Pedal to the metal" :)
This my Favorite.
It was also in Across America.
And in Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel
The Hungarian dub was or is great
Nice Video. Very interesting to see the history.
My first SCS game was 18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin. ^^
When did you get it
@@flightsimaviationentertainment I think it was 2007, the game was in a computer magazine :)
Haulin Best of the Best game, especially them original soundtrack ☺❤
@@derkatzentyp99 oh xd
same :)
Now I'm on ETs2 with all DLC's and happy with it. (still runnin' via keyboard tho LOL)
Already in 2003 they had surprisingly good rain effects!
Extreme Trucker and Extreme Trucker 2 were my favourites. So much fun in these games. Also personally I consider GTS to be the first game of the new SCS era.
PTTM was also great, and Haulin was the best success
L.E.: this is my most liked comment ever, thanks everybody ::)
Me too
I think, that Scania Truck Simulator, was the first game of new SCS era.
CB radio was in 18 Wheels Across America and had those exact same voice lines. So no it wasn't new in Haulin. Regardless, it's still fascinating seeing the evolution of the series!
personalização do caminhão também ja tinha no Across America,
0:25 I didn't know this feature existed , but I wish for a long time to have something similar in ETS , if you want to check in the meniu , just to reverse and take any trailer.
Also I loved the radio function in Haulin and that it was snow in Canada. Playing single it was entertaining to have a "conversation" with other drivers , they were asking for the weather , I was telling them that the opposite wheater situation or that there was an accident. I wish they would bring it back for ETS , it would have a functional part considering that there might be a diversion , so you could be told that a certain road is closed.
I had played 18woS PTTM as a kid and then a few years ago saw a video on ETS2 and thought, oh I'll get that, and seeing the SCS logo at the start of the game made me rummage though my old games to find my old copy, definitely was surprised to see they were still following their love for trucks. I think the CZcams age helped them find a lot of new fans which has definitely helped them expand and make the games they've probably always dreamed of having the team and budget to make
A lot of models from previous titles are still present in ETS 2 and ATS, something that not many games are capable of doing, but since Prism3D is SCS Software's in house game engine, they can take advantage of these assets to save time on future projects. Take Dover port for example, and Calais, which was finally updated not too long ago, given how old ETS 2 really is.
@@Dave_Albright since Brexit the UK is no longer considered European
@@spinner4148 Your logic baffles me...
@@Dave_Albright Add Turkey
@@spinner4148 There are a lot of European countries that are not part of the EU. Such as Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
Not, ETS2 - some of the stuff was literally from GTS and UKTS, so from 2010.
ATS really is a masterpiece, especially cities.. I hate driving in cities in past games of SCS because cities were copied and pasted, they were same but now i want to go to each cities or village on map. I played all SCS games include Hard Truck. ATS is different.
Great video! It's awesome how far SCS software and how much they have achived!
I played only Pedal to the Metal and I have a lot of fun with this game. I also found the way to edit some of the config files to make my trucks faster. So it was a double fun :) It's nice to see how the graphics have changed over the years. Thanks for the video.
PTTM was and is still my all time favorite. I still play it even today and I'm in my 30's.
When it was released in 2004, it was a huge step up from Across America.
Nostalgic, it was a rainy day in 2011, I downloaded the trial version of the euro truck sim 1 and was playing it. It was my first truck sim game and I absolutely loved it. It aged so much
50 Cent had just published Get Rich or Die Tryin' when 18 WoS Across America was published. That album played in the back while I was haulin'. Now any song I hear from that album reminds me of that game.
Thanks for doing this it brought so much nostalgia to me
Still mind blowing to this day they did this for decades
Does anyone else remember the Euro Truck Simulator 2 trailer with the song called "Hot"? I listened to that trailer so many times that music is engraved into my brain.
The first one looks pretty damn good for the time it came out in
ETS 1 is so nostalgic to me 🤩
started with 18 WoS PTTM back in 2004 with only 8 years old. Good old memories :)
Bei mir war es sehr ähnlich 😁! Pedal to the metal war auch mein erster Berührungspunkt mit SCS Software
Across America was the best game ever. The physical damage on the trucks were great.
One thing has amazed me about this series of games from the beginning: the driving physics are incredibly close to realism.
So glad SCS has been the staple for this long when it comes to trucking games. I remember playing it with my dad at 4 years old in 2006 and I played across America and most of the others all the time. I definitely think it contributed to me being a better driver. I loved across America and still do, but man ATS is the game I wish I had back then
Hard Truck: 18 wheels of steel is the third game from hard truck game series, the first game is Hard Truck Road to the victory and the second is Hard Truck 2 King of the Road, there is a fourth game too, Hard Truck Apocalypse but the publisher is Valusoft
Thanks for mentioning! I played Hard Truck 2: KotR a lot in high school. It had kickass music. And it did look very similar to the first game presented here, I was wondering how come there's not KotR here.
@@Winnetou17 Because those were developed by Russian developer SoftLab-NSK, not SCS software. They also made Rig N' Roll as well. Which released in 2009.
Across America were my first computer game I have ever tried. Still playing sometimes for nostalgia
nice video makes me very nostalgic specially when you brought up UK truck simulator cause that was my first SCS game, and i'm quite sure i still have the disk somewhere :)
minha historia com a SCS começou no 18 wheels convoy, como foi um grande passo pra época, joguei todos subsequentes e hoje sou carreteiro kkk, definitivamente marcou boa parte da minha vida!!!
Happy for you man!
hoje em dia ja montei me PC GAMER tenho meu volante G29,
e sempre que chego de viagem passo horas jogando ETS2 E ATS !!
I remember, when i was a child, i completely outplayed 18 Wheels of Steel Pedal to the Metal and i liked to play it. My another favorite trucking game was King of the Road (2001), which was not from SCS Software. Now i am especially playing on ETS 2 with TruckersMP.
Somebody else here said that KotR (which I also played and remember fondly) is actually from this series and it was the 2nd game, while the first game in this video is the next one, the 3rd game.
Thats scared how much time is falling, I remember when I was play 1st "Hard Truck" like last weekend, That was 02/03y, damn bro.. That was epic times for games bro
My addiction to ETS2 started from 18 Wheels of Steel
When you think about, that nowadays new trucks get announced sometimes the same day in game as in RL, it's crazy to think about.
Pretty sure every new feature you inlcuded for pedal to the metal was also in across america except for the weather forecasting. No big deal though. They also had CB radios in across america. I played that game way way too much as a kid lol
nice gemacht, wie ich auch vom aller erstes spiel angefangen habe und es jetzt schon in die jahre zieht, der hammer, bin noch gespannt wie es weiter geht und was noch alles kommt
Man, I remember playing 18 WoS: Haulin' when I was like six or seven on my grandma's computer in the living room. Didn't know what I was doing, just driving a truck. Now at sixteen I've put around 265 hours into both ATS and ETS2 and only realized ATS/ETS2 are made by the same people who made 18 WoS: Haulin'. Real crazy seeing how far they've come, and the fact that their games are probably one of the very first games I ever played.
Nice recap of all the games, now I regret it more then before that I only got playing them since 2012... But nice vid 👍🏼
Crazy to think i used to play ets2 in 2012 and i still play as of today!
thank you, I looked at it with great pleasure and remembered how it was.stuck the most in long haulin
My first game was 18WoS Across America back when I was 6 ~ 7 years.
Today, playing ATS, look's like I'm play the old 18 WoS with the same nostalgic feeling!
I play ATS and the ETS2 demo and man, are they so good
PTTM & Haulin are my favorites as a kid.
I played 18WOS Convoy when I was about 12 or 13, some 17 years ago (already!!). There's this one moment I remember so well: me getting up early on a quiet sunday morning in winter, making some hot chocolate and a little breakfast just to get back to trucking while listening to Glen Campbell's "Gentle On My Mind" on repeat, which played on CZcams because I had only just discovered this music the night before. what a lovely memory to have. gaming in the mid 2000s was something else...
18WoS hard truck is a part of my childhood, watched and played with my Uncles and enjoyed the open world and the radio... great time
Wow amazing how little has changed in some areas.
and some parts of the game went even backwards
@@cenkcdemir Definitely cranking anything more from this engine seems impossible. At some point they have to release something new otherwise Florida released in 2030 will only make people laugh.
Yep. Graphically, they are on par with current gen mobile games. They are generations outdated in pc graphics. Aside from some texture and shading tweaks, ets2 looks bout the same as 2006.
I remember playing 18 WOS back in the day. But it was kinda frustrating because of all the game crashes. I kept going into forums and such. It was a mess because these crashes were quite common and nobody knew if it was an issue with the video card, RAM, windows version and so on.... Still, they were very entretaining.
It's videos like this that instantly makes me switch adblock back on again.
This was a nostalgia trip I didn't know I needed
Very dedicated game dev studio. I wish there was some feature that added challenging biomes like narrow hilly paths, accidents, and a seasons system like Forza Horizon 4 with mud and snow physics like Mudrunner. Maybe it won't be super realistic in terms of real locations but will be more interesting.
🇧🇷 idk how many hours i played in 18w american long haul, ets and ets2 since 2008... Good times
Thanks for the trip back to memory lane I played each of these games myself!
Thanks! I've had no idea that SCS Software did make that many games before. So that's why ETS2 and ATS are that great!
you don't own a gaming pc until you install and play ETS 2
posso ter o orgulho de dizer que acompanhei todos, obrigado SCS
I remember playing 18 Wheels of Steel: Hard Truck and learned from lining up loads for the drivers in my company how to read the time scale of a log book. 21 years later I am sitting in my CDL class filling out a paper log book for practice and I flashed back to that game.
I remember picking up ‘across America’ in a random yard sale kind of thing. I was 7 at the time, absolutely loved it. Nostalgia through the roof
It would be nice Easter Egg if SCS added some maps from their old games to ETS 2.
Calais was recycled from ETS1
in ets2 England and some parts of europe from ets1
And some ai vehicles from ets1
Tenho orgulho de dizer, joguei todos, atualmente ETS e ATS :D
My first one 18 wheels of steel and that great gameplay. Wonderfull time spent with one of truck games. ❤
18 wheels of steel series is still one of my favorite today :)
ATS seems to be ways behind ETS2 i'm still very exited and curious for the full map of ATS. Maybe it takes 2 - 4 more years before its completion.
Thanks for the video!
Unfortunately, if one compares 2002 vs 2012 ans 2012 vs 2022, we won't see much progress in the coming decade 😔
Presiel som si vsetkymi a dufam ze sa budu dalej zdokonalovat. Tu je presne vidiet velky kus roboty za tie roky ako sa to zmenilo.
We used to play Hard Truck so many hours back in 2006-2008 when I was just a kid :D countless hours of fun
Those old ones bring back memories. Use to love driving from Canada, through the USA to Mexico. Also I'd give anything for them to bring back that CB feature.
Comecei com o Haulin e as comunidades do Orkut. Eita tempo bom!!
Joguei quase todos eles...bons tempos de adolescência
CB Radio has first appeared in Across America, actually
I could never decipher the CD Radio chatter! LOL I've loved every trucking game SCS have ever produced. They truly are Kings of the (Simulated) Road.
I don't know if you know the game or tried it, for that matter, Hard Truck II: King of the road from 2000. It's extremely well build, I play it from time to time since this is my childhood game :)
can't make it work on windows 11:(
nice video! how about making video about history of ets2 updates?
Good idea
Some guy already made this kind of video. Very interesting to see how many things changed!
I still remember playing 18 Wheels Of Steel: Across America. Beautiful times.
Wow this takes me on a trip down memory lane 🙌🏻
I'm curious what SCS is gonna do on the release date of ets2 when it's 10 years old. Hopely it's not nothing
You make me feel like an old man when you said that this game is a decade old already 🥲
I am really glad that this "game-genre" got so famous. I remember telling people what I played and they would look at me as a weirdo.
It's not that you're a weirdo for playing it, it's just that it fell into that "budget simulator" genre of games due to poor graphics and shallow gameplay.
Ah I remember finding 18 WoS Haulin on a game magazine disk and was so upset that it didn‘t work on my computer. Finally got to play it on the next one tho and then ETS and ETS2. Now I rediscovered the game and enjoy my time on the road with my G29 and a classic rock record. It‘s so relaxing.
very nice collections good editing showing the progression OF THE GAME
I love this game. Can’t wait for the routes to include central and eastern states. Texas would be nice. Florida also, or South Carolina where I live. The software that moves this game is awesome, it amazes me. The guys that write/run this software are genius. Ok, I had my say. Gotta go, I have a delivery in Idaho.
u talking about ats or the 18 wheels games?
ATS (or American truck simulator) is the 18 wheeler driving game. If you don’t have it, get to it and get it.
If anyone reads this, every scs game prior to ets 1 was made with 1280x960 in mind as the max resolution.
If you play with widescreen, it's not true widescreen. It's vertically chopped 4x3, which means most of the upper and lower cabin view will be cut off unless played in 4x3.
Also seen with the top and bottom parts of maps cut off in bunch of the earlier games
Cool, thanks for sharing!
Thank you you make my old memories live again 💕
Road events are been added in 18 Wheels of Steel: Hard Truck 2002
CB Radio in 18 Wheels of Steel: Across America 2003
SCS then: "here's the whole US map for you, of course it's not all the cities, but it's enough to have fun driving around"
[Gigadoge]
SCS now: "mhere's the wemstern US, the remst are DLCs"
[weak doge]
DLCs are more or less also for wemstern US.
And then we talk about scale. Back then you could not feel the distances that much as I‘d presume. Plus the games got far more advanced in scenery.
you realise the main reason for having DLCs is so scs can actually make money after the release of ets and ats right, notice how the older games came out basically every year but now theyre still supporting the same game from 2012 but adding more content to it that you dont require an entire seperate game to use
@@nbirdie100 I do and I actually own most of the DLCs to ETS2, it's just a joke mate
@@MaWka_Ch. Now the fact of the matter is: you most likely got a larger scale of a map than before. I remember the ETS1 map being pretty small and ETS2 just dwarfs it in every single aspect
I love seeing games improve from first release and 2000s graphics to modern 2024 graphics such a beauty
SCS software New Engine , DirectX 12, DLSS...
Same can't wait for dx 12 for ets 2 and ats i want to use it already
2002 » 2012: evolution, improvements in graphics and gameplay, tons of games.
2012 » 2022: gib moni for DLCs. 1 new game, which is the exact same as a previous game, but on a new map.
Feel like SCS is turning into DTG. I mean, they can sweet-talk about "BestCommunityEver" all they want, but the games speak for themselves. The physics were outdated when ETS2/ATS released and are outright laughable now, as is the whole company "management" bit. The interface should've been redone entirely years ago. There is no damage model, not even dirt or cosmetic, and if you crash, the truck behaves absolutely unrealistically and unpredictably.
But the worst is the map expansions and the DLCs in general. I mean, to buy every DLC for those 2 games is like 500 bucks already - and they're only just finishing Europe and not even halfway done with the US!
Why did this comment remind me to ROCKSTAR GAMES?
