    SwitchBot has reached out and provided an additional 5% coupon code (XMS10KUP) that can be used on Amazon or the SwitchBot Website:
    AmazonUS: amzn.to/44Y3QzH
    AmazonUK: amzn.to/4dQdSal
    They have also provided the following feedback:
    _"We are delighted to hear your positive comments on our innovative design, value for money, and superior mopping performance.
    We appreciate your constructive feedback regarding navigation and obstacle avoidance. Specifically, we're focusing on improving obstacle avoidance accuracy and ensuring effective lifting of the mop on high-pile carpets to prevent wet marks. Additionally, we're exploring options for local network control without an internet connection.
    Regarding the 3/8” tee fittings you mentioned, we've started optimizing these parts to better match U.S. water pipe standards. We've made adjustments to both size and color, as shown in the images below. We've also improved the gaskets for a better fit. These enhancements are designed to make our fittings more compatible with U.S. water pipes."_

    Having the SwitchBot S10 I have to say that the support team is great. The product is new and has a lot of bugs, but in a short period they addressed almost everything and they will improve the obstacle avoiding in the future. I also had a problem with the black carpet and they emailed me that an update is on the way for this issue.
    I really think that the robot is extremely good for the price, considering all the things that the robot and stations do.
    I also recommend them to make different brushes and mop roller (besides the ones that come with the robot already) that work best in different scenarios.

      This has been my experience with pretty much all other switchbot products I got until now... they release it and they're great but a bit of a mess, then they fix them quite quickly. Oh also unsure about other places but in Italy the S10 has ALWAYS had a 300€ discount on amazon so it's price is basically 800€ (either a discount or a coupon or something. Pretty common for a lot of switchbot products)

    I love my Roborock Q Revo. As we don't have pets and keep it pretty tidy I think it has a great price to performance ratio. I do have to empty and fill up water about twice a week, so if they could come out with a different auto dock that fits underneath standard kitchen benches (standard height and 60 cm width) with some sort of auto open/close, that would be awesome!

    I have loved your reviews and a couple years ago. Used your review to buy my Dreams L10s. I liked it so much I bought a second one for my second floor for those who want full automation with an older unit like the L10s, I just installed a Coffee machine auto refill float for $20 on Amazon and a small condenser pump with a one-way valve that I put in the waist tank. I set them in my laundry room next to my washer and dryer because I have exposed water supply and it’s easy to plop the flexible tube in the drain next to the drain for my washing machine. Now my L10s is fully automated. I get the great performance of this machine with the convenience of automation and I don’t have to worry about it being in the location that is seen by pretty much anyone else. Happy to share photos and specifics if you’re curious.
    The bottom floor of my house also has a single step down where I built a 3 foot long ramp that the vacuum will use to climb to the second level. The trick to getting this to work is to put aluminum foil on the ramp to reflect the Leir and guidance lasers so they don’t see it as a wall.
    Thanks again for your videos and scientific method in your reviews. They are very helpful.

    Thanks. This is very helpful info about the S10.
    Question: so the station is powered by the vacuum. Does that mean the vacuum charges elsewhere? I wish I weren’t confused by this. The bathroom where I can install this has no outlet so it’s a concern.
    I’m glad to know they’ve added Matter support, though limited by that new standard’s… newness.

    crazy testing. this type of testing likely not far from R&D of these companies.💪💪 watching this I realized that these bots not there yet for households with kids/pets as they leave uncertainty which could leave the user with troubleshooting tasks and broken expensive machines. even a minimalist home with adults can also do without robots because you can glide through the floors with speed and cleaner job than these tiny robots (just listen to a podcast or music at the same to make it less of time waste).
    I'd be interested with more powerful bots in the future where carpet and floor performance close to standalone cordless.

    As great as both the S8 and switch bot were, you still need to clean / change out the mopping pad/rollier weekly. If you don’t, it’ll stink of mildew. This smell will transfer to the floor and be unpleasant.
    Until it’s a 0 touch solution, I’ll stick with my S7 ultra. I change the water / pad / base filter whenever the base is out of water. This keeps everything fresh and smelling decent. Takes about 10 minutes once or twice a week, depending on how many times I have the robot mop.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  Před 3 měsíci +6

      You don't need to change out the pads/rollers weekly, probably only once every 1-3 months. The switchbot specifically is extremely effective at cleaning its own mop and then completes a 3 hour heated dry after each mopping session.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  Před 3 měsíci +3

      The easiest way to do that is to put a "no go" zone on the edge of your ramp, it will make the vacuum travel up the ramp smoothly. I did it at a friend's house with a Dreametech and it worked great.

    @clark-w4g Před měsícem +1

    I just returned my switchbot s10 after purchasing it on prime day. The concept is great, but outside of the physical mopping functionality, nothing about it is good. The software is really buggy and it has perhaps the worst obstacle avoidance of any robot I've used in the past 5 years. Even after setting it to the most conservative navigation mode, it continued to run off stairs, knock over my nightstand, and get tangled in every cord it came across. It popped its own front wheel off several times and managed to push its own water station across the bathroom.
    It had abysmal battery life, and I could never get it to complete a run of my whole house due to its buggy software. It would run low on battery, throw an error, and then dock for several hours to charge. If it managed to make it through 3 charge cycles without getting stuck somewhere, only then would it decide to begin mopping. But the mopping would never complete since the robot would randomly decide to go dry itself for 4 hours in the middle of a run. It wasn't smart enough to know that drying should only be done at the end.
    Since I could never get it to complete a whole house run without some catastrophic error (that it could not resume from!), I tried setting multiple staggered per-room schedules throughout the day. But that didn't work either, since runs would often take 2-3x longer than expected and prevent other scheduled jobs from ever starting.
    Overall, it seems to do a great job of mopping a small square room. But it completely fails once you try to use it in a large house. The short time I owned this robot really drove him the value of the mature firmware and time-tested navigation code that come with more established brands, something I didn't fully appreciate until now.

    Really feeling dismayed by my recent experience with our Robovac by Eufy. 1. It started requiring me to reset it every time it ran because of a battery error. 2. After a while of that I just stopped running it and after a while it started showing up in my Pihole logs hitting some amazon address over and over and over an over, getting blocked every time, but it was quadrupling the number of blocks of any other device on my network. So I just shut it off.
    After about a year and a half of owning it, where about 1/3 of the time I was dealing with the battery error...I just don't want to deal with them anymore. I feel like it should at least last 3-5 years. The only Eufy product I still have in use is a smartlock on a door we almost never use...just to have easy access without any key. Wanting to replace that too just to get rid of Eufy entirely.

    I'm skeptical that the automatic drains don't get clogged in weeks. I have a mop/vacuum device and I had to prefilter the debris out before i put it in the drain. because the debris was clogging the drain.

    I think your narwal is broken.... I bought the narwal not too long ago and your results don't make sense at all.... on my narwal FreoX Ultra he knows very well how to avoid things on the floor.
    And its moping is simply excellent, I think maybe you should check if there is a version update, or even try to take advantage of a warranty with the company. Because it really doesn't make sense and all the other reviews and other customers on reddit are saying completely different things than what you are saying here.

    • @TheHookUp

      The FreoX Ultra in this video was a completely separate unit from my last video. That means that 2 different units over dozens of tests performed nearly identically. I'm glad you're happy with it, but my testing is valid.
      Please point me to the other reviews that disagree with my findings.

    I thumbed up this video for the effort he put into it and for making the case that one should skip these crazy inventions. Not ready for prime time.
    Examples:
    1. The toilet install is definitely convenient, but putting the base right outside and blocking the shower box door? Too much of a convenience price to pay.
    2. Installing the base right under the kitchen sink, but outside the cabinet, sticking out like that... an accident begging to happen. Either you'll kick it and destroy the base, or you'll fall and break a hip.
    3. The mop... no words to describe the fail. Just hand mop your floor. Get one of those Swiffer Wetjets. It's not that hard.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  Před 3 měsíci +2

      I was mostly showing those locations to help people get an idea of where they could put them. In actuality the switchbot base fits under my dishwasher flush with the kickplate. In the case of the bathroom, I wouldn't put it there just because I think it's weird for guests (and that's our one downstairs bathroom), but my floorplan called for that shower to be a closet initially, so it would have fit fine in that nook.
      As for the mopping, roller mops are the future and the Eufy S1 Pro and Switchbot S10 are in a completely different league.

      I think the issue might be trying to balance a tangle resistant brush with one that can apply enough force to agitate high pile carpet properly. I recently tried switching my Dreametech L10S ultra from the rubber brush to their new TriCut brush and had significantly worse vacuuming performance (~15% decrease in my pickup tests).
