I'm a Tatum guy, he really needs to develop a 10-16 footer and he could be the man. Bill Simmons was pointing that out with some stats. Those who criticize Tatum are blind. Yeah, he's not shooting so well, but that's only part of the game. He's a team player, scoring, passing, rebounding and defending. He can do that because he plays in a better team.
At the end of the day, idc about what the haters say, JT is playing winning basketball and were 4 days away from being champs, but I would love to see him drop a 35 or 40 piece in one of these games just as icing on the cake and our haters can pull out the remaining strands of hair they have☘️
The only thing that is bothersome in Tatums struggles are the Layups. Everyone was cold for Boston so Tatum struggling to shoot isn’t as bad. If you watch the game though his 13 2nd half points were big buckets. And since all the media and fake Mavs fans what to talk Hypotheticals, Tatum plays better on the road so he might go off but realistically as long as they win real Celtics fans will be happy.

The biggest difference is Luka is being single covered and it's fine. Tatum has 3-5 guys on him. I'd love for Mavs to single cover Tatum like the Cs do to Luka.

Why would you give anyone the baseline? Play a 2 1 2 zone but run it tight where the 5 spot player defends all sides by moving up or down. No player should have blindsided access to the baseline... WTH? Kyrie and Luka in the paint? Hilarious!
Also u see kyrie not closing the gaps? He was doing it in minnesota my celts got his number since he was in brooklyn.

Tatum has outplayed luka as a passer this series. Rebounding about equal. Tatum has the edge on defense and utility (like screens, off-ball movement, etc) while luka has the edge in shooting. Tatum however is ridiculed while luka is praised. Goes to show the bias for offense vs. defense. The win record shows thoufh which matters more. IMO JT is doing at least close to Luka..

Tatum had a great night but there were a few times he should have made the points as well, 18pts is nothing to scoff at to begin with if he was any body else they would have called that a good scoring game but if he drops 30 40 or even 50pts on top of everything else he is doing which is completely possible when he is in his grove than the mavs will get blown out, there is really no way to guard boston if they leave tatum 1v1 then he is going to score if they double or triple team him the rest of the team scores, it's a lose lose for dallas and this is a great basketball team full of great players, playing at the highest level

Then you aren't a fan. You're just a young person, lost and just barely able to note the basics. Of course then you'll note that Tatum isn't scoring. Is Tatum not allowed to get a cold streak? Would you prefer that we have a repeat of the last time we were in the ECF, or the finals? When Tatum was impossible to guard but Brown had major ball protection issues and the Celtics lost after being down 0-3? If you can't see why it is more important that Tatum does other things better than score, just keep watching.
It's not about ignoring it... It's about the fact that the Celtics won this game because of Tatum in spite of horrible shooting.
Of course fans want him to at least shoot his average. But he is literally more impactful than Luka by far even shooting this way. Tatum is controlling the game, both sides of the floor. No lobs? Tatum.. Kyrie not getting clutch shots? Tatum stole the ball from him like he was nothing. Lukas worn out? Well he's fat, but Tatum just kept hammering him over and over and over. Made him useless in the 4th. The entire Celtics offense, Tatum. Dude had 12 assists when his team shot 25% on 40 3s.
If the Mavs single cover Tatum like the Cs do to Luka, Tatum would have well over 30.
Tatums shooting is horrible and he's still the most impactful player on the floor and no other player in the NBA is well rounded enough to pull that off
Shooting is only one part of Offense.
It was bad but he put up 7 more assists than his season average. Plus he was getting to the paint, making the defense collapse almost at will. Luka had 8 TOs which can be considered just as bad as Tatums shooting last night. He didn’t do great but it wasn’t a bad performance.
Because if tatum get hot. He probably wont pass much and be selfish. So I rather he play like that and we get the win

How many times tatum created spot up opportunities for his team. How many pick and rolls he stopped just by being able to defend the center and switch. And how many pts he lost cause he couldn't make a shot.
Now let's count how many easy blowbys luka gave up resulting in easy buckets. Luka turnovers. How many spot up oppurtunities he created. And how good he shot the basketball.
I can guarantee that tatum is gonna have way more impact by a mile just cause luka is a terrible defender.
