As a Physiotherapist, I can say with confidence that we all like to cause pain. The hippocratic path is do no harm. Not do not hurt😁. This is a great tool for self treatment (if/when it's the psoas causing the problems). Thanks for all the videos Mark!

Yeah, finally someone else is on board with me concerning self-help with their psoas. I have been a massage therapist for 19 years now, and the psoas work is the most difficult for clients to endure. The only thing, some people who need psoas release cannot have deep pressure in the areas due to IBS or diverticulitis (left side). The lower area will make you cry uncle, so teaching the client to breathe through the discomfort is key for sure. Great instructions and visuals Mark!!!

I used a peanut I got for my lower back last year turned on its end for this. To be honest though, using kettlebells in the manner you teach had really helped minimise any discomfort I get in lower back and psoas regions. My core strength is better due to kbs than anytime in the past 30 years since I was a 20 something.

Perhaps the muscle tension store some memories or vise versa. Good tool. Got it for a discount.

Adjustable DIY version for about 5 Euro (if you have some dumbbell plates and some clamps). Go to a DIY store and buy a short wooden bar with the same diameter as a dumbbell bar (dumbbell bar is too wide, can’t get plates close enough together). In the middle of the bar put 1-3 dumbbell bar clamps (depending on the width you want the plates to be apart). Attach a dumbbell plates on each side and lock up with a clamp on each side. Because the width is adjustable, I think it’s more versatile.

I dont know but pressing and messing up with the intestines can be risky, maybe for some people this works, how can I know if it is relevant for me? Back pain can have many different causes. In order to reach the psoas you need to go through the abs, fat, intestines (appendix!, colon! if you go to far down or something), arteries, oh and the nerves that come out of the lumbar spinal cord to left and right down to legs etc. I just tried it today first time and it feels odd, did not get any release or anything but my gut now is quite sore. This is not for everybody and doing it on your own could be potentially unhealthy, better to go to professional.

3D printed one of these, because f their prices. I have never been confident as to where my psoas actually is though, so I mainly use it for other muscle groups. The glutes especially. My 3d printed one can split in two also which can be convenient.
