- This sound is easier to learn than a lip trill or tongue trill to do and gives you all the benefits of both. Learn what those benefits are in this video, how to do the exercise and how to apply it to singing songs!
Get more head resonance in your singing with this video on the NG hum. This will add a fuller sound to your high notes and if done correctly will stop you reaching too.

Let me know in the comments below if you agree after testing the new sound against the lip trill and tongue trill...is it better? Did it leave your singing voice silky smooth like it does with mine!
Did you notice a difference in your singing after using the Raspberry?
Top man...best warm up ever...range, agility, flexibility, ability etc, etc, etc, you name it.. 🙏 🙏 🙏 8
Spectacular!! This is fantastic!!! Wow, I just learned something new again watching your channel! And I noticed a difference immediately! ❤Appreciate you!
you are welcome and thank you :)
This was amazing
Thank you :)
Thank you so much for this invaluable tip. I’m amazed at how it works immediately. I use lip trills constantly but I’m really liking the raspberry as it seems to relax my tongue, releasing tension and creating a better sound. Love it 😍
Hi Karen, Really glad it helped you :) If you have any video ideas just let me know. Dyl :)
@@VocalCoachDylan thank you. The raspberry technique has opened up my voice incredibly this week- I’m so glad I found your channel. Any tips on good breath support would be welcome.
Hi Karen really glad to hear the raspberry technique helped you. It's my go to when I start a vocal warm up. Great video idea. Thank you.
Dyl :)
Great exercise 🤩
you are welcome :)
can you please create another video on how to do this step by step? I cannot get it to vibrate like that haha
I found my mix just recently and raspberries just help you set it for good. This also means that you have no tension when you sing if your able to do it.
Hi, Glad you found it helpful. :)
I have to ask... where do you feel the the most resonance when you are in your mix. is it in your chest, neck or head?
You see the resonance placement is a great tool to help you stay in the mix.
Dyl :)
Just found your chanel and really love your content and teaching style! I can tongue trill, raspberry ( less well) and still struggle with tongue trill although I can get it intermittently after following along with you. I still want to master the tongue trill along with these. Do you think raspberries and tongue trills help me towards tongue trilling eventually in addition to keep trying to trill? Thank you!
Its a nice side project to work on as doing all the trills (lip and tongue) and the raspberry mean you have a balanced control over your lips, tongue and facial muscles. But remember that they are not singing they just help you learn to feel what a balanced singing voice feels like and they also balance the breathing for you. I would focus more on moving to the NG or vowels with consonants like LAH or MAH.
let me know if you have any more questions
Dyl :)
❤
I cant able to do rasberry
hi again Dylan.
could you make one thing clear please.....when you do the slide exercise do you allow your raspberry 'B' sound to slide up into the head voice or do you keep it connected all the way with a bit of compression.
your brill.
thank you
Hi dude, keep the same feeling of vocal focus all the way up and allow the resonance to naturally shift up into more of top/back of head resonance as you go higher, while also keeping a bit of the nose resonance too. Rememeber that as you go higher the resonance will get less but can be kept in these same areas (nose and back top of head) right up ot your highest notes.
Dyl :)
@@VocalCoachDylan thank you so much Dylan.
Step two 3:54, all well and said, but this is not enough information to make me understand what do I have to do in order to to make that nice wiggling of the tongue.
If I do those bursts, it's very different result, just air and spit.
Could you describe how the mouth should be, should I purse my top lip against tongue, because it seems that in the video, the airflow comes through under the lip, but mine from above.
I do have a stiff tongue, probably, and I need to work on that, but that's not the only problem.
Thank you.
How to do this
Why do my lip trills get stuck around a B4? I choke myself off even if I focus on keeping my larynx down
The back of your tongue is pulling back. You might struggle to feel it so take your time. doing the raspberry will help you notice this. alternate between the lip trill then the raspberry over the problem area and you should notice if you are doing the raspberry correctly that its freer over that area. And a B4 getting stuck is often a sign that you didnt release correctly through your register as there should be a feeling of change around G#4 to A4. These are 2 things you can do that will really help. If they don't then the problem could be one of many other things. have a good one :)
I can’t do the lip trill or the raspberry I’m not sure what stoping me
Hi ya, thanks for your question. This will be some form of facial tension, often in the lips, cheeks or jaw. Try the jaw release exercises I show on this channel. and also use a mirror to help you notice your face tensing up. hope that helps :)
Hi, I can do lip trills, tongue trills easily very relaxed but not raspberries 😢 do you have any idea what’s not working?
try not to hold your tongue so tightly with your lips. also if you can't get it being able to do the lip trill and tongue trill is fine. :)
@@VocalCoachDylan thank you. I think it is happening, seems like my tongue is rather short, haha, I guess I need to find the comfortable position where I can keep it going comfortably and relaxed?
Sir , how to get a light, thin and bright voice which is non-bassy ?
Hi, thanks for getting in touch, allow your larynx to lift more and bring the sound of your voice more to the teeth. This gives a thinner bright sound. you can find this by humming and focusing the buzz at your lips. Dyl :)
@@VocalCoachDylanThank you! And yeah ,, I've watched your video on forward vocal placement ,, but that bright sound doesn't stay for long .
Can I orader a few online singing lessons?
How much does it cost?

I look forward to hearing from you.
Dyl :)
this is a great exercise and has helped so much....my only problem is as soon as I go up in pitch my raspberries become faster and then I run out of air......why?....thank you so much for your clarity in explaining things.
Hi Antony, thank you for your comments, The main reason is pushing at the top when you do this you force to much air out. And that happens all because of the way you think differently at the top. notice how calm you are at the bottom, and try to stay that calm at the top while focusing hard on keeping the raspberry rate the same these two things together will give you the biggest change... oh and it's not easy and will need practice.
regards
Dyl :)

@@VocalCoachDylan thanks so much...your the best.
does this mean as I sing higher I bring compression into it to reach the higher notes without straining.
@@ANTONYTHEDRAWINGMAN I know this sounds strange but that will all happen naturaly if you let it. its the over control that is the problem here. :). The more you let go into high notes the more you will allow your voice to just do what it needs. When I say let go I mean mentally as you are tensing up to much at the top :)
@@VocalCoachDylan that makes a lot of sense....thank you so much Dylan...your the best.
Wow I can’t do this. Any tips coach?
Practice
Amazing, but... how to find the "b"-sound without closing the lips? Here I'm struggling.... 🤔

By the way it is Alex from school
Hi Alex :) I hope you are well my friend :)
I am sorry but I am totally booked up and also you're a little young for singing lessons as I come from the school of vocal coaches that feel young voices should not be trained until you've got to around 14 years of age to allow the voice and body to grow naturally. The raspberry that you have learnt on this video will help you keep your voice on track as will doing sirens with it. I have a video on how to do sirens. You can check it out here: czcams.com/video/JhKiIQBeyp0/video.html
Dyl :)
I find that this aggravates my gag reflex. Am I doing this wrong?
Hi ya, thanks for getting in touch. I have not heard of that before. Sounds like you are either pushing your tongue forward to much or pulling it back to much. Try to keep your tongue with the tip of your tongue lightly touching the bottom front teeth. hope this helps :)
Hello Dylan,
Are you taking new students?
V/r,
Van
Hi Walter, Sorry at the moment I am totally booked up but if you like I can put you on my waiting list? Also you can get hold of me via this email: dyl [at] vocalcoachdylan.com why not drop me a line and tell me about where you are at with your singing.
Have a great day
Dyl :)
How long training is needed for learning this?
Very hard for me but I'll try it
☺
Nice class
What if you can’t roll your Rs
same again do the raspberry
