  • This sound is easier to learn than a lip trill or tongue trill to do and gives you all the benefits of both. Learn what those benefits are in this video, how to do the exercise and how to apply it to singing songs!
    Get more head resonance in your singing with this video on the NG hum. This will add a fuller sound to your high notes and if done correctly will stop you reaching too.

      I have to ask... where do you feel the the most resonance when you are in your mix. is it in your chest, neck or head?
      You see the resonance placement is a great tool to help you stay in the mix.

    Just found your chanel and really love your content and teaching style! I can tongue trill, raspberry ( less well) and still struggle with tongue trill although I can get it intermittently after following along with you. I still want to master the tongue trill along with these. Do you think raspberries and tongue trills help me towards tongue trilling eventually in addition to keep trying to trill? Thank you!

    • @VocalCoachDylan
      @VocalCoachDylan  Před rokem

      Its a nice side project to work on as doing all the trills (lip and tongue) and the raspberry mean you have a balanced control over your lips, tongue and facial muscles. But remember that they are not singing they just help you learn to feel what a balanced singing voice feels like and they also balance the breathing for you. I would focus more on moving to the NG or vowels with consonants like LAH or MAH.
      let me know if you have any more questions

    hi again Dylan.
    could you make one thing clear please.....when you do the slide exercise do you allow your raspberry 'B' sound to slide up into the head voice or do you keep it connected all the way with a bit of compression.

    thank you

    • @VocalCoachDylan
      @VocalCoachDylan  Před 2 lety

      Hi dude, keep the same feeling of vocal focus all the way up and allow the resonance to naturally shift up into more of top/back of head resonance as you go higher, while also keeping a bit of the nose resonance too. Rememeber that as you go higher the resonance will get less but can be kept in these same areas (nose and back top of head) right up ot your highest notes.
      Dyl :)

    Step two 3:54, all well and said, but this is not enough information to make me understand what do I have to do in order to to make that nice wiggling of the tongue.
    If I do those bursts, it's very different result, just air and spit.
    Could you describe how the mouth should be, should I purse my top lip against tongue, because it seems that in the video, the airflow comes through under the lip, but mine from above.
    I do have a stiff tongue, probably, and I need to work on that, but that's not the only problem.
    Thank you.

    Why do my lip trills get stuck around a B4? I choke myself off even if I focus on keeping my larynx down

    • @VocalCoachDylan
      @VocalCoachDylan  Před 6 měsíci +1

      The back of your tongue is pulling back. You might struggle to feel it so take your time. doing the raspberry will help you notice this. alternate between the lip trill then the raspberry over the problem area and you should notice if you are doing the raspberry correctly that its freer over that area. And a B4 getting stuck is often a sign that you didnt release correctly through your register as there should be a feeling of change around G#4 to A4. These are 2 things you can do that will really help. If they don't then the problem could be one of many other things. have a good one :)

    • @VocalCoachDylan
      @VocalCoachDylan  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Antony, thank you for your comments, The main reason is pushing at the top when you do this you force to much air out. And that happens all because of the way you think differently at the top. notice how calm you are at the bottom, and try to stay that calm at the top while focusing hard on keeping the raspberry rate the same these two things together will give you the biggest change... oh and it's not easy and will need practice.
      regards

      @@ANTONYTHEDRAWINGMAN I know this sounds strange but that will all happen naturaly if you let it. its the over control that is the problem here. :). The more you let go into high notes the more you will allow your voice to just do what it needs. When I say let go I mean mentally as you are tensing up to much at the top :)

      I am sorry but I am totally booked up and also you're a little young for singing lessons as I come from the school of vocal coaches that feel young voices should not be trained until you've got to around 14 years of age to allow the voice and body to grow naturally. The raspberry that you have learnt on this video will help you keep your voice on track as will doing sirens with it. I have a video on how to do sirens.
