For me, it’s less “put Alternators in Generations” and more “do a few homages here and there”. A new Prime Smokescreen could pull double duty as an Alternators Smokescreen if they do his Beast Hunters colors first (which would be great given that it’s both more colorful than his original palette and a deco we never got on the original Deluxe) and I wouldn’t mind seeing more Hounds retooled into Swindles. The only real Alternators content I’d want in Generations are Shockwave and Ricochet, both retooled from SS86 Jazz/Legacy Knock-Out.
Hear me out: Shockwave from Origin Jazz as an Alternators reference and a reference to the SG Autobot Secret Police officer Longarm, who's implied to be Classics Shockwave in disguise and doubles as the original take on SG Autotroopers

Windcharger can come from power of the primes punch-counterpunch. Counterpunch has the shoulders and a faux roof chest that could be remoulded and it has a decent sports car look
That upcoming Transformers/GI Joe crossover movie will be the perfect occasion to release more Alternator Transformers. They could easily have, to scale, real vehicles, with GI Joe drivers. Then the vehicles could transform into G1 inspired robots, or the movie version that they represent. And it also gives a sense of scale, between the humans and the giant robots too.
I had this idea (inspired by Botcon 06) that many of those odd Autobot Car recolors (both officially and from fans) are reinterpreted as OCs and members of the Autobot Command Security Force.

I know that it would oversaturate the Datsun mold, but Shockblast should have that.
Not just because of the door wings, but also the rear of the car being the feet and the wheels on the shoulders are things the 86 Jazz can not replicate.
I mean I would be happy with either outcome, I just prefer one over the other
My brother made me a custom alternators shockwave out of a buzzworthy silverstreak for my birthday, playing with it is realy fun and it might be because I'm shockwave biased but it makes the datsun mold interesting to me and fun to play with. It being shockwave adds so much somehow.
I'd certainly would like to see a retooled Hound resemble Alternators Hound.
As someone who grew up on G1, Alternators were the Transformers I waited my whole life for. Actual modern 1:24 scale model cars that transformed into super-articulated figures. Hit it out of the park times ten. Of course. as the line went on, it got weird. But those first dozen or so figures were awesome.
I would kill for a alternators style shockwave from SS86 Jazz and retail autotroopers
I would love another auto trooper, especially a sleeker one to contrast with the boxy space van version. Maybe pair it with another troop builder like a vehicon

They paid homage to Alternators/Binal Tech by turning it into the Masterpiece line. At least that's how it feels to me. Alts were just starting to wind down when I started collecting. Shockblast and Corvette Ravage are some of the first TFs I got when I started collecting. After not touching a TF since Transmetals, and not touching G2 at all, Alts were insanely impressive. I found the US MP1 a couple of months later. I had a very good start to my collecting landing some Alts, MP01 and Cybertron Duplo Startscream and Galvatron within the first 6 months.
I have 2 of those Alt Skids figures. I bought a lot off someone on one of the forums and it was the only mold/figure I already had. Since the price was right I didn't mind having a 2nd one because it came with some other molds I didn't have. That Ricochet being one of them ;)
Alternator Skids should use the front of the car from Canonball instead of the regular one! They should name an Alternator Prowl "Prowl II". alternator Optimus could totally work as a regular Deluxe release. You could even use it to make RID Ironhide in his cow print pattern! Release the mold was him first! We can always use more pick up trucks anyway.

I reckon the JP12 mold would make for a better Alternators Hound/Swindle/Rollbar than the Detritus mold.
Closer transformation match. Tires up under the chest but still visable. Hes even an officialy liscensed Jeep.
Just needs a new head.

Justice for Alternators Smokescreen! This was the line that brought me back to Transformers, and I had a ton of them at one point. While they are clumsy by modern standards, 20 years ago these were amazing. As it turned out, they didn't become very collectible and I've since sold off most of them rather cheaply. Although Binaltech Smokescreen, blue Tracks, Jazz, Shockwave and Mirage are still proudly displayed, and this video reminded me that I should have a look at getting the Zoom Zoom variant. That's by far the best mold and red Binaltechs look amazing.
Also, I don't think there's a Shattered Glass Sunstreaker yet? They could totally make one that also happens to have Alternators Dead End colours.
I really want them to do Alternators because it’s chance to get G1 characters we don’t see on the shelves all that regularly (Tracks, Ravage, Skids, etc) with fun new spins on their designs instead of direct second or third attempts at their classic looks
They already have that Autotrooper head from the 4 pack. No clue if the ball joint fits the Earthrise Prowl mold or if it would work with the Transformation but if it does, it’d be such an easy thing to pop it on and call it a day.
Something I'd do if they did a new version of Alternators Optimus, whether Trailbreaker or a new mold, would be to add a secondary Orion Pax head (if Hasbro didn't, the DNA absolutely should) for sort of an _Animated_ style "What if Orion Pax ended up on earth before getting the Matrix"
I have heard TJ suggest repaints of toys for years and for some reason I want none of them more than I want Alternators Optimus Prime from Trailbreaker. The bed canopy painted as the trailer is just hilarious to me. Also the Chase / Prime Cliffjumper mold could work well for Grimlock/Wheeljack.

I feel like the alternators as you want them to be ommaged, should happen but in a few years, since rn alot of the moulds have been used pretty often.
I would like to point out... I really do like the Alternators toyline. I have said for YEARS that this is what the live action movie Transformers should have been because Alternators does something kind of unique that no other toy line has ever done before. And there have been figures that had done this after but not as well. That's the fact that all of these figures are designed to have an actual interior. You can even open up the hood to look at the engine. When they're in vehicle mode there is absolutely no indication that this is going to turn into a robot it just looks like a model car.
Human Alliance tried something similar because they also have actual interiors but because of the movie designs and how they have to transform they end up with a bunch of panel lines that give away the fact that it's going to turn into a robot at some point.
I wanted to include more Alternators on my own Top Ten lists until I realized they all kind of do the same thing and they were more expensive figures from what I remember so I'm not sure if their one trick of just looking like really good model cars that are ACTUALLY disguised while in vehicle mode is enough include a bunch of them. I did mention one from the first year Binaltech came out but honestly you could pick any figure from any year they were a thing as long as least one gets mentioned at some point I'd be happy.
Also I don't really want them to do a Homage to Alternators in Generations. I actually want them to produce more figures like this. Maybe not with licensed vehicles because I'm better that's why the price was higher than other TF lines at the time. I just like the idea of a Transformer that can realistically disguise itself as a car because all of the interior components actually exist and it's not just a shell with robot parts crammed inside of it. Except for RID2001 X-Brawn because where his head ends up in vehicle mode is pretty funny and accurate to the cartoon so he doesn't need an interior.
I think you would need to do brand new molds for 1 or 2 characters to have modern legacy versions of alternators so it would feel like an alternator and not just a funny coloured repaint of a legacy/ SS86 mold
Pointblank into Binaltech Windcharger would also open up Binaltech Arcee and the cancelled Binaltech Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia.
BUT!! Lemme hit you a lil' further:
• Retool the Siege Datsuns into the Alternity Seekers. (*SPECIFICALLY* the Siege Datsuns; the Earthrise Datsuns don't have that vehicle mode or robot mode silhouette)
• Flip the Earthrise Datsun mold into GT-R Convoy, Megatron, Saber (Starsaber), & Fortress (Fortress Maximus); much of the retooling is the car parts, considering that the Nissan GT-R is a bit different from the Datsun/Nissan Fairlady Z.
• Pull the original Siege Hound mold outta mothballs and retool that into Alternity Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, & Goldbug (Suzuki Swift); this would work better than the Legacy Skids mold...
• Unless you upped that thing to Voyager in size, engineering, and parts count, Earthrise Trailbreaker mold can't work for Binaltech Convoy/Alternators Optimus... he's too small. So maybe that would have to be a new mold.
They'd probably release Alternators Dead End as Shattered Glass Sunstreaker should the line come back.

The Power of the Primes Punch/Counterpunch mold could work well for Alternators Windcharger, Decepticharge, Arcee and Blackarachnia
If they could find a way to remold the wheels and tires and may more details. But then again it's masterpiece
wait, I just realized something. In Age of Extinction, when Grimlock first transforms and Drift says "I was expecting a giant car", was he referencing the Alternators toy?
Honestly, Alternators not getting *anything* is the most confusing situation by this point. Had this question been asked a couple years ago I would have said "Oh, that's simple. It's because Alternators molds were used in Kiss Players, and they obviously want to stay FAR away from that." .... THEN WE GOT THE KISS PLAYERS AUTOTROOPER HEAD.
Hasbro was willing to reference THAT of all lines, yet Alternators gets no revival or references at all. It just makes no freakin' sense.
Of course, right as I start looking for good Alternators to buy you HAVE to make a video related to them…

Maybe instead of using Cyberverse Bumblebee as a base for Mirage, why not go with the EarthSpark toy? IMO, that mould almost matches the sleekness of the Ford GT in alt mode much more than the Cyberverse toy does. Plus, the doors are attached to the shoulders much like the Alternators toy

i just bought some Transformers One toys from Target and i kind of like it. they went back to G1 desgins which i prefer. transformers have gotten too complicated to transform and i like how Hasbro is going back to basics 1980s style!!!

I have to be honest, I don't like Alternators because they forced car modes on absolutely everyone. And cars are the most boring kind of vehicle for transformers to be.

I can't agree with you saying all car modes are automatically boring. There's Bumblebee's off-road Camaro from ROTB, Arcee's muscle car mode from EarthSpark, G1 Mirage's F1 car mode, Bayverse Jazz, Combiner Wars Hound off-road vehicle, Animated Soundwave, G1 Wildrider, and Alternators Rodimus.
However, you do have a point that Alternators failed because of the mandate of making them all transform into cars just because of the collector focus.
the alternators cars were alright for maybe a wace or two then they all became kinda samey.
i´d kill for a new alternator shockwave, i love the concept but the legs are awful
