I think it helps to understand the dominant qualities of the different worlds. With the upper world being related to Wisdom, the lower world being related to Power, and the middle realm being related to Love. Physically the Crown, the Heart, and the Base of the spine. Some systems divide Spirit into the upper, Body/Ego into the middle, and Soul into the lower. I find that the Archetypes reveal themselves. With that said, some people believe that the most profound spirit communication happens in the upper and lower realms. But that Soul connection with your Anima, Daemon, Other Half (whatever you prefer to call it) takes place in the middle realm. You might meditate in the upper realm at Dawn, and the lower realm at Dusk. But the middle realm represents the majority of your conscious time and it shouldn't be seen as ordinary. It's like the medium between the other two and there is alot of communication that takes place in between.

In my yup’ik culture we were told that if the ircinraqs (little tricksters) brought us to the three doorways we should choose the middle one. If we chose the upper doorway we would become a bird and if we chose the lower doorway we would become a burrowing animal. If we chose the middle doorway we would come back as human back to our families. The ircinraqs were known to lure people away from their villages and get you lost in the wilderness. The only people allowed to travel through the upper world and lower world and come back were the shamans and they had to be protected by spirits.
This was recorded years ago and now I am listening to it and agree 100%, I travel to upper world all the time and easily with no barrier...it is beautiful and peaceful...I am from there that for sure I know.. and I didnt know there were barriers and stuff.
My experience of becoming a shaman was like being shattered into pieces like broken glass and brought to a table in space just ubove earth and was carried there through a vortex...i returned with knowledge&abilities most could not grasp nor comprehend. Shortly after,within a month a voice spoke to me that was not mine nor in my head but echoing loud through my home.... "goto where they are crazy". These were clearly instructions. To keep it short ,because there are so many more details to this...I'll sum it up quick....im now a practicing psychotherapist without a license doing far more for my clients than the ones they are paying...i asked the spirit what do I charge? It said take no money, their well being will be your payment

The inherent value of a functional human is the way towards a charge/tax-less society. In theory everyone he helps redeem themselves can provide as he provides in ways that defy that frame of logic.
I hope it pays as such to remind you the voice wasn't in his head. It resonated through out 'material' space and beyond in his vicinity. According to all I've heard and intuit Creative-Source gains as all of us open up and become more fluidly functional.
The Universe itself, in other words, yearns to yield full fruitful expression. Everything is free, give or take effort (which is inherently free, besides the investment it itself is.) much like being carried by the proverbial river takes you places faster and with less effort than all the paths riddled with resistances.
To The Stranger's living moral, he cuts away the bondage, freeing others, who can then perhaps go on to do the same work. It is a bondage for you to insist and incline the natural recycling of True Purpose is part of the pyramid schemes that frame so many deceptions. One of them being scarcity and abundance. This spirit asks him (or her) to not bow but to stand tall and proud in working with naturally given / earned gnosis (internally sourced, functional knowledge and understanding), and apparently yields far better results, than those peddling and status-quo'ing the in/doctrination scheme.
Even with limited personal knowledge of the shrinks and their wrappers, I've seen how utterly contrary they are. It is bondage to get people hooked on head-meds that sedate their faculties, rather than do what is supposed to be the most basic aspects of mind-sciences and repair and rebuild hurt minds and hearts with functional ones.
As such I sincerely hope you are just more misguided, than one of the ones who bow to dark masters. Self-Mastery is key for all these reasons. Otherwise you are most likely a tethered puppet, but this grand effort is made to sever the binds rather than the bound.
Hmm, you feel comfortable calling yourself a Shaman.
In most cultures around the globe people believe that a healer can never call himself/herself a shaman. The people being healed, the community, can decide to call their healer a shaman.
Some cultures believe that if you are so proud to call yourself a Shaman, your ability will be stripped away.
It is totally appropriate to call oneself a Shamanic Practitioner.
But hey, you do you.

I listened to shamanic drumming music for the first time and i connected to another dimension. It was a place with huge rocks, ocean water, waves and glaciers. An old alien looking lady was Chanting something about my life purpose.
For people wondering about reading my last comment.. that was my shamanic initiation. Spirit initiated me into shamanism. I am also a starseed

Today I think I did my first Shamanic Journey. I believe that I traveled to the lower world because I was feeling very dizzy and felt like I was falling down a hole. Everything was dark and it was like I was falling into a spiral. I then saw a being or someone carrying me. I opened my eyes in the real world and everything looked fuzzy. I closed my eyes and then I saw this other being with a beautiful green face and forest attributes like leafs, twigs and grass on her head and face
sometimes in my dreams I feel very high like I’m on lsd. And this one time I was so high in the dream I couldn’t function, then this entity took a hold of me but not aggressively and flew me back into my bed. I just remember that whole flight with me feeling up this creatures limbs. I remember that hand being a bit hairy or maybe furry. Once I reached my bed I woke up. A common theme with me is whenever I’m scared or can’t function something seems to bring me back to this world

I'm new to this path and this was an excellent explanation of the three worlds.
I've been to all of them. I didn't know until recently my path spiritually. Had a journey this past Tuesday and God said the end wasn't coming and that we all go to heaven and then we spoke about personal things that I'm not going to share.

Communication with relatives and others (including pets) who have passed is very possible, and done quite often. They show up not only in journeys, but also in dreams, of course. Frankly, I don't think it matters which of the worlds you use, though I suggest beginning with the middle world journey process. Since you are in Houston, you might also check into the Houston Shamanism Meetup group. You might find some kindred spirits there too. :-)

Kanznbel: I suggest you read the book "Shamanic Journeying" by Sandra Ingerman. It will answer your questions better than I can here. I have yet to encounter 'demonic forces,' though encounters with shadow animals can be challenging. See the Power Animals video for more on that. If you are disturbed by something, you'll just lose the thread of the journey and return to take care of it. And yes, you can have someone next to you, though their movements may be distracting.

While the journey may be confusing to those new to the process, and sometimes difficult to do alone, in more than a decade of guiding hundreds of people on the journey, I have never lost anyone yet. I do not subscribe to the mindset of fear expressed here. That said, it is a good idea to do the deeper journeys with others more experienced rather than alone simply for perspective and clarification.

I told my mom as a kid that she wasn't my real mom.
She's been playing something cause I think probably it hurt her or scared her when I was little?
The thing is when she had me, I came out looking really dark, the opposite of my mom's blonde hair blue eyes, she didn't think I might be hers.
I actually saw my daughter before I had her, in a dream.
I looked into spiritual parents and the Christian idea of that was all I could really find. I was raised Roman catholic.
I've suffered from strange illnesses since 2011ish?
I also had toxic synovitis as a child and doctors didn't know what it was, the pain didn't go away and was chalked up to growing pains.
I lost eyesight at one point being like 80lbs.
I love my daughter.

I a weeks ago had a big emotional well..not really a breakdown but I lost most of my friends and went through a major depressive state then I started reading one day about some "Shaman" stuff so I looked into to it and long story short it helped me get out of my depression.
I hope this helps others to and I think that peoples ego usally gets in the way I know my would have..

After my sister died I dreamt that my consciousness was flying through a field. I ended up diving deep into a lake and then shotup through the clouds. All of a sudden I was standing in front of a beautiful white barn with green grass around it. I looked to my left and my sister was standing there. We didnt talk, but it was so nice to see her face. Before she died I wasn't able to dream at all.

A wonderful video...although he forgot to mention one thing about the Middle World. That it can be a dangerous journey if you aren't well protected or go into it too soon. All energies and Spirits can reside in the Middle World, and this means negative and positive. Always have protection when journeying to the Middle World.
Tristan silverwolf I tend to disagree to some extent. It is always good to have clear intention for any journey, and to have guardians with you. However, some folks over-emphasize the NEED to be well protected, almost to the point of fearful. In more than 20 years of journeying, though, and frankly most of my journeys these days are Middle World journeys, I have found that most "negative" energies are actually wounded beings and can be treated as such.
Gerry Starnes Indeed. I never said to be fearful of the Middle World, but to be cautious. Perhaps I should of used a better word. With all Journeys a set intention is important, but as being called to the work of Shamanism my self, I have known the Middle World to be a great place of work, but a place that can be dangerous if you don't understand it. Fear is never something we must carry when we do anything, such as journeying, but caution should be exercised. And while I do agree with that most "negative" entities are wounded and lost souls/Spirits, some can become quite angry. I am just saying that caution is important to exercise while going to the Middle World, as both positives and negatives reside. In this I don't include Wounded begins as negative, but lost and wounded and they deserve to be given help.
@@GerryStarnes I went into a Middle World journey fairly early on....as someone requested me to look into something. I did see beings that could have been regarded as ' negative' but I looked at them neutrally. Just that they are there. I was emitting light and they could not come into my light. I met a very wise spirit that clarified the question I had.

I was going through a book called Wheel: The little red book of shamanism, and literally had just been introduced to the fact that there were three world's, but hadn't yet been given any description of them.
Needless to say, when I journeyed, I was taken to the middle, lower, and upper, almost like an open day in school. Each one was exactly as you described, and I was surprised to find when I read the next page in the book, it was almost an exact recounting of my experience.
Lower world I saw stars realign into human shape. Upper world's I saw geometric beings of light. Middle world, I was in my house being taken around the place.
Also, the tunnel (which I had no concept of before I started) is like... Falling, but sometimes getting pulled sidewards and other directions into lower world destinations. It's actually pretty exhilarating just freefalling down that tube lol

Oooh I’ve been there! There was diamond tunnels ….. or something like that down there.
Just to answer you at the upper world level a shaman told me, you have to ask for a paper to accept that level and healing of that level before you enter it.
It's a passport and depends on what kind of gift you have to enter that level.
There is level of shamanism and how many guidence they have. There is guidence of dragons serpents kind and thunder kind and buddha shamanism and white celestial kind. Keep listening because not everyone's shamanism experience are the same depends on the level they have.
I saw a hare during my first middle earth journey when I asked about my life purpose and it took me on top of a high mountain with crisp air, blue sky and a huge sun. On another mountain I saw the Jesus statue from sao Paolo. My second journey to Akashic field showed me a butterfly, frog and eagle. Is it normal to see different animals? On the second journey my question was different.

thank you for sharing your video really help im on my 6th journey their all ave been the best time of my life so deep and beautiul on my first i started by the middle world then up to the akachic records, second trip met my animal protecter the snake in lower world, 3th trip mother the dragon and bouddha spiritual guides and protectors. and so much more. wishing all my best and sending wonderful energy to every one on their way other there!!.
My father experiences upper world trances, and from what I have gathered, these trips are exactly the same as what one would experience on a DMT trip. Anyone out there able to travel?

Not at all, actually, though strict conservatives would say otherwise. (I have been called a "satanist" by some of them, but rest assured that I am not. : ) In fact, if you look at the roots of Christianity, you find Judaism, of course. However if you look deeper into Judaism, which is more than 5,000 years old, you find that it was originally very shamanic. And it still is in many ways.
Those kind of people who go around branding people "Satanist" tend to be ignorant people.I definantly encounter these type of people in You Tube comment section and either tend to ignore or not talk to these people because I don't know where to begin and also these type of narrow minded people are set in there own way and there tends to be no talking to these people because doing so leads to never ending confrontation.
Nomadic exist way before the bible are practice. Nomadic are just people practicing shamanism. Shamanism exists before bible.

Gratitude for the teaching. I am wondering if any one has had experiences where guides have shown up without drumming and one finds themselves journeying, the journey comes to you so to speak, and it could be even while engaged in day to day living (such as at work.) Also, I am wondering if others experience spontaneous discovery/learning once one says yes to the process, and then, the information that affirms the experience seems to surface, almost as if one gathers a few kernels of learning, and this opens the space for spirit/source to teach directly, then teachers come that affirm the experience. I am also wondering if anyone has experienced, with siblings that are in transition, that there is spontaneous journeying that occurs to help the siblings soul pass over, even providing support after their last breath to help the soul transition. Curious. I am experiencing a sort of flow where the spirits seem to call me, then I go where I need to be to process, to journey, or I relax into it if I am not in a sacred space and let it flow. I am also curious if anyone is experiencing journeying in relation to the planet healing, issues that go beyond the personal, into the bigger picture.
Hello! I know your comment is 3 years old so not sure if you will see this (I guess if it's meant to be you will), but I have experienced some of the things you asked about. Firstly, I had never heard of the term "shamanic journeying" until recently when I was watching a random video and a woman mentioned the shamanic journey. I felt intrigued so started searching about what that was and discovered that I had involuntarily been entering these journeys for quite some time. The way I entered these journeys was usually through listening to music. I listen to music that is electronic, quite experimental, trance-inducing and usually has a consistent beat (similar to shamanic drumming) and I would then enter into the journey. I just thought at the time "woah this is cool and weird that I am meeting these animals and seeing this stuff" but didn't think much else haha. Anyway, after I discovered what a shamanic journey was, everything started to make sense and it is clear to me now that any time I entered those spontaneous journeys. it was often during times I needed healing. I was also doing reiki on my partner and randomly entered a journey and met a beautiful elephant who was so kind and loving, they helped my partner to heal and sent him a message of love and hope that I passed on to him.
I also have heard trees speaking to me recently and calling me to them. I think (can't be entirely sure) that I recently entered the upper world whilst sitting with a tree, where we had an amazing exchange of gratitude. I got a strong sense that whilst the tree was healing me, I was also healing the tree with my gratitude. The tree had been isolated from other trees and didn't receive much appreciation or respect from the other humans. I am now on a mission to continue working with trees to try and help repair the relationship between us humans and them.
The main thing I guess I am trying to say is that I had no idea of the shamanic journey before I started entering them and I had no idea of this concept of "earth healing" before these incidents I have had with trees. When I get called into the journey, it is completely spontaneous, unplanned and when it happens it feels like I have been taken over. I get this kind of soft calling and then kind of flow with it and before I know it, i am being taken on a journey that is very difficult to describe to people.

First, thank you for this informative video on shamanic journeying. I have a question about the relationship between the use of magic mushrooms or other psycedelic plants and the journeying itself, I learned that the shamans often use such plants to reinforce the journey from the book 'Food of the Gods' by Terence Mckenna, yet my attempt in journeying after moderate dose of mushrooms failed, whenever I closed my eyes I can't focus on my imagination...

I have only been on one shamanic journey and went to the lower world. While there I moved into a forest clearing with bright, bequtiful flowers. Looked up and saw a huge devil face. I was pretty unnerved. Any insight into it's significance? Thanks.

Your comment broke into two parts. I'm replying to both. Beginners should not be combining the two for the reason you are expressing. You need to have substantial experience with both separately before attempting that. Frankly, the use of power or teacher plants without an experienced guide is not a good idea. Remember that shamans who used them have years of guided experience in that realm. And plants are not needed for effective, powerful journeying.

Hi! Today I did my first shamanic journey at home. I saw the snake hole in the ground, but I didn't know that was an entrance to the lower world. After seeing the snake hole, everything went black. I didn't felt like I was going through a tunnel. Then, I saw a beautiful little mice, standing on a large piece of metal, he was white and have a black eye patch. I just saw him moving his head from left to right. Then everything went dark again. Is there's a good book that you can recommend for shamanic journey for beginners? Great stuff! Why wouldn’t people on the journey visualize rising up through a column of light or drifting up like a cloud, as opposed to a latter or other physical things. We do lots of hiking and resonate with climbing up. Just curious....,
You certainly can. Riding an elevator up or down is also a modern metaphor for moving between the worlds. Just remember that flying (even to the stars) is likely a "middle world" journey because the stars are also part of our ordinary reality.

You make it sound so easy. I am worried that it won't work for me although I really want to experience this. It sounds too easy to be true? What if I have been brought up to believe this is ant-Christ and that I am inviting demonic forces into my life? How often can I do this and how long (in minutes) does it take? Is it scary? Ok the weirdest thing just happened to me , I was super angry like probably the most angry I’ve been in my life so I decided to try meditation, I sat in my room with my altar lit a candle and listened to a meditation, I got distracted because parts of the blackness started fading away to show like movie clips! One was this goddess with reddish brown hair standing on a cloud looking down with sunshine all around her , then that part would fade away to reveal the next one , a woman with dark purplish hair at the bottom of a body of water, then next I was brought to was a funeral far off in the distance and everyone was in suits and had umbrellas and it was foggy and drizzling, then I saw a field and some old school books , then I saw people wearing like bone masks , like animal bone masks like almost like an animal skull, then I was in a foggy field and there were animals but they were all only walking backwards , I’ve never meditated and I’ve never experienced this , I saw more then that too but the scenes kept jumping and then I was trying to stay on the one because I wanted to see more and then I opened my eyes and I’m not sure when the meditation ended but it was def over , it was by far the most incredible experience of my life , any thoughts?
Do you actually see these worlds and spirit guides like you would in a dream or movie?
Some people perceive through vision. Others perceive through different ways: touch, hearing, knowing/intuition... even smell sometimes. Teachers speak about these worlds visually because that is how most people relate to the world. It's just easier to speak about "visualizing" the journey. After more than 25 years, I myself no longer "see" the journey. I receive a "download" and sometimes process it visually so I can remember it.
@@GerryStarnes Got it. Wished I had known that a long time ago. The way these instructors talk about Journeying, I'm expecting to visually see something and when it doesn't happen I figured it didn't work, didn't do it right and get frustrated.
So can you tell if another person is a shaman even though their lineage is diffrent from yours and its a native amercian shaman or a Tibetan shaman or a hmong shaman dont hate me for this but i believe that if you aren't a shaman that is chosen by spirits you should not try to leave your body and try to explore the spirit world because you might get stuck and your spirit will get stuck or you could lose a part of your soul and you can still be alive without your a part of your soul but you wont feel the same
After more than 30 years of practice and teaching 100s of people to journey without losing anyone, I don't think I can agree with your assertion. Tens of thousands of people worldwide do this practice safely. I don't know what culture you are part of, but it may be that in that culture it might be unsafe. Belief systems vary, and I would not want to judge yours at all.

That suggests that you are not ready to journey into the upper world. Facing a challenge is not unusual. The questions to ask are: “What do I need to know? What do I need to do? Who do I need to be? To be ready?”

Idk about this. Since I’ve never taken these journeys.
But I do believe that there is a spirit world around us at all times. I can’t explain it. I don’t see anything. It’s a feeling that doesn’t go away, and I’ve had some experiences I’d consider peering in, in my dreams and while taking shrooms, and having seen a spirit once in my youth.
Idk if it was a person or not. Looked like a person but idk.
I think there’s things going on, I can’t explain them, but I believe they are happening. That doesn’t mean I believe there’s an afterlife. Just that spirits do exist.
It doesn’t make sense to me that nearly every religion that’s ever existed has detailed hierarchal descriptions of spirits without something being seen, through divination, meditation, DMT, shrooms, peyote, however you get there.
