    Just got a 2018 NXT22 and have fit 14 people in it. For everyone to have enough room we typically have 10-12 people in it. The stock setup is great, but if you are looking for a monster wake and don't have the biggest crew we run a 1000lb fatsac in the floor of the boat, 750lb in the bow and a 650 on the back seat, yes that's obsessive but for days with only 2 or 3 people in the boat the wake is MASSIVE. big rampy wakeboard wake @ 21.4-22 and a massive wakesurf wake @10.8-11.2 and 100% on the surf plate and none on center

    Really appreciate your video. Did you ever try out an Axis A22 or T22? Curious if you thought the wake was about the same or better on one over the other. Thanks again for the upload!

      No problem and happy it helped. I haven't unfortunately. We called several times to demo but the nearest dealer who sold Malibu boats didn't want to put in the effort to let us, not sure what the deal was or if they thought we just weren't serious about buying. We looked at both of those hauls quite a bit. Pay attention to the hull redesigns if you go that route, they changed them up and received better feedback for surfing.

      I.e. are the new NXT's supposed to be better surf experience.

    We have had 14 so there will be enough room without being to crammed in. Of course, we have had 8 adults and 6 kiddos LOL.

      The NXT is skiable. I got several puls from our dealer, and it's a better wake that the older Maristars. It has the power to pull someone out of the water fast, too fast. Arranging the back plate to about 20% will level out the boat & create a smoother wake for slalom or barefooting too.

    • @RandyBuist
      @RandyBuist Před 2 lety

      I really like the 22 ft off slalom skiing behind this boat. Of course, fat sacs empty & fewer people on the boat will help too.

  • @SiliconValleyRealEstate

    super random question...we just sold our 2000 Maristar and got a 2017 Mastercraft NXt 22. The gas consumption was outrageous our first weekend out...around $200 where our MariStar would have barely gone through 1/2 tank ($60). Are the new boats known to be gas guzzlers or could it have been that we had about 12 adults on the whole time? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    • @morganhferry
      @morganhferry Před 4 lety

      Were you surfing? 12 adults + all ballast full is going to use a crap ton of gas. If you're going to do that on the regular, get a different prop that has a different pitch, that will help with the gas mileage. Also, 12 is a lot of people on an nxt22. I get pretty uncomfortable after 10 on ours haha. You might need to use the tab down to get on plane with that much weight, then when you're on plane, pull the tab up and you should get good gas mileage.

    • @SiliconValleyRealEstate
      @SiliconValleyRealEstate Před 4 lety

      @@morganhferry thanks for your reply and feedback. Yes, 12 adults is a lot! That's not usual for us. We did some research and the prop/pitch could be a good solution. We've gone out since then with only 8 adults in a lake and the gas consumption was much better! (the time we went through a ton of gas we were were in the Delta - In california which had a pretty strong current; probably making it worse too). I really appreciate your feedback! thanks,

    Do you know Mastercraft color names for the interior . We are designing a 2019 NXT 20 and are having a hard time telling what the true seat color options are from Mastercraft's website. I like the color scheme of the seats of this boat. I like the exterior too, but we have that figured out already.

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey mh, glad you enjoy our color schemes! I just tried outfitting the interior on the MC site for the 2019 model. I'm pretty sure I matched it correctly, but the color names or shades could be slightly different. This is what I think we ordered - base = Rayo Platinum 2nd and 3rd base = Rayo Flint Monograms = Kahuna Blue Welt = Kahuna Blue
      I also note in the video we had the CoolFeel vinyl, but I was mistaken, as it wasn't an option yet. You may want to look into the CoolFeel, but it hasn't really been an issue for us except on really hot days. Best of luck, please let me know if you want me to reach out to my father for the paperwork for specific color names.

    So I'm going to get the nxt20 within the next year or so, how is the swim deck holding up? I hear the fiberglass ones show their wear and tear after a little bit

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 6 lety +2

      Thats exciting! The swim deck was definitely something we struggled with decision wise. Teak platforms are also an option. We decided to go fiberglass because of how well it matched the rest of the boat. We have a few minor scuffs on the foam pad that lays over the fiberglass from boards rubbing. You definitely have to be cautious when strapping a wakeboard on. My biggest concern initially was how well the adhesive would hold up over time on the foam attached to the fiberglass. Our friends have a Wakesetter and the foam has peeled up at the corners. Luckily, I think MC avoided this by also having what appears to be small screws or bolts securing it in corners. Time will tell.. Teak will give you the classic look, while fiberglass will flow well with the style of the hull. Hope this helped!

    How do you like the boat all in all about to get 2018 nxt 20 so what do you think

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 5 lety

      Hey J Cole, can't comment on the 20, but we love our 22! You can expect MC quality for quite a bit less than the flagship X lineup. I was skeptical about the surf/wake performance at first, but I've been impressed with what the 22 has offered. Definitely plan on opting for the Surf Package, or plan on adding additional ballast if you didn't add that option on. With our 22, we can surf and wakeboard right from the get go. I can throw 3's on the surf board no problem and backrolls on the wakeboard. This coming season I'm going to throw another 750 in the boat for fun, but it really isn't necessary unless you are looking for tournament level wakes. All and all it's been a great boat for the past 2 years. I even rocked some slalom right before this past season wrapped up. For the sheer size and design of the haul, I was surprised out the minimal kick I felt while crossing the wakes. Certainly not the first choice for running a course, but I was surprised at how versatile the 22 could be. Best of luck!

    My brother has an NXT22 with the Gen 2 setup. So when you surf, do you not use the ballast and just 100% tab to whichever side you are surfing? Then ballast just for wakeboarding?

    • @justinmomboy5735
      @justinmomboy5735 Před 4 lety +1

      No, you still use ballast to surf because you want to weight the boat down to one side to get a bigger wave. I also own the MasterCraft NXT22

    What’s the setup you use for ballast

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Cole, we have the surf package on our NXT, so we run all ballast full and the package included 2 soft sacs plumbed as overflows in the rear compartments. Occasionally we will throw a 750 under what we call the "coffin seat". It's located on the rear port side of the boat and can be easily concealed. My brother prefers to keep the center belly tank empty. If you do this you can expect a steeper wave with a lot of push in the near to mid range. I enjoy keeping the belly tank full for the most part. It lengthens the wave and mellows it a bit. We generally run between 10.2-10.4mph. I hope this information helped! Comment again if you have any additional questions at any point. I'll try to get some more surf footage up this spring/summer with some information that has worked well for us.
