Yes, castell 9000 is really great for drawing, sketching, almost perfect pencil you need specially if you're a beginner artist. These pencils are so good to use and you can practice on different blackness/hardness as well
Yeah, you mentioned Faber castell 9000 which are actually amazing, but what about staedtler Mars lumograph?

Not as good as Faber Castell,however, they write nice and they work good for face portraits.
I only use Prismacolor Ebony Jet Black Extra Smooth and Derwent Graphic 8B and 6B. The Derwent Drawing Ivory Black is very nice, extremely dark which I love, but it is a round pencil and the thickness is harder for me to grip and control. I also greatly admire the Staedtler Mars Lumograph 6B, and found it nearly identical to the Derwent Graphic 6B.
Derwent graphite pencils are middle to poor quality. Faber Castell 9000 and Palomino Blackwing are the best. Mitsubishi and Tombow follow next. Then Staedtler and that's where the best end. After those is the middle class with Kohinoor etc brands on these spots.
As you didn't mention Steadler, koh-i-noor , Blick studio so this video is away from real drawing world

Screw derwent, leads always break.
The review managed to gain "44K views 3 years ago." Yet it states in the title "In 2023," a time when the situation has changed considerably. Faber Castel now has a Matt series that goes to a 14B. This is a very nice range that has virtually no shine even when blended. The reviewer mentions Derwent in a range that goes to 6B and fails to mention that the series goes to 9B, and has done for quite a few decades. A few reviewers state that they are available as open stock, but that probably depends on where a person lives. As open stock, they are next to impossible to find locally in the Uk, but only avalable in sets. Caran d Ache gets no mention, and while not cheap are about as good as a pencil gets. Faber Castel and Caran d ache compliment each other well, although the Caran d ache do have more of a shine than the Faber Castel Matt.

I don’t draw as much, but I love using drawing pencils, especially when I am solving math problems.
Derwent is very bad! 😞 Hard to sharpen and during shading it feels like it's damaging the paper!
