    Lots of skill no hype. Grease video. Would love to see your take on sharpening super steel blades vs standard stuff.

      Thanks for watching. I can definitely do a video on that. I have lots of sharpenings on super steels and simple carbon steels but talking about the difference would be a cool approach.

    👌🏻😎

    I have a S90V Bench made on the way. And I did not realize the steel is harder than the ceramic rods I use to sharpen all my other knives. I am correct in that? I just ordered some, let me look... DMT wet stones. Will that work out? Thank you.

    What do you resurface the stone with? Notice you strop at a high angle also. Enjoy your videos. Thanks,

      I use a silicon carbide stone to resurface the resin bonded diamond. As for stropping, I think it's the angle of the camera and how I have to lift the tip of the knife to reach the tip on the strop. The straight/flat part of the knife is one angle and the tip is another since you have to raise the tip because there is a curve at the end of the blade. Thanks for watching!

    Can you sharpen a black blade like a Benchmade Mediator the same way or would it destroy the finish?

    Is it a good idea to sharpen the s90v with a silicone carbide stone? Thank you.

      Wondering this myself... I'm holding off sharpening my Benchmade S90v til I know the best way to do it. Didn't pay this much for a knife to ruin the blade on a traditional quick sharpener

    What did you use to refresh the stone ?

      Peter Vu just a silicon carbide 1x6 edge pro stone. Cheap and effective

    Don’t know if your still reading comments but here goes.... when I sharpen esp the 940 I so want the #%*8ing thumbstuds out of the way do you ever take them out to sharpen?

    • @Iheartknives1
      @Iheartknives1  Před 4 lety

      Steven Lachance I sure am. I don’t remove them but you definitely can. If you’re using a guided system especially it would be easier to remove them. For freehand I find that they’re no big deal to leave in place.

    Great video Mike :) don’t let those cunts in the comments get you in a panic, anyone for that matter lol. You made some excellent points about lapping stones. I also need to try using sharpie for stropping as well. Lapping makes a world of a difference in my opinion. Do you own the 800/1200 yet? I wonder because I can’t remember seeing it in previous videos. I’m waiting on purchasing it myself because I’m trying to get away from high grits since I just got a hold of my first high carbide stuff but I’ve also come to love finishing at coarser grits. If I remember correct, you had the practical sharpening vitrified stones at one point right? The reason I ask is because Jef put me on a list of people to send them to but I’m not sure if I should try contacting them myself since I’m such a small channel. Might possibly come off a little too eager to be fair. Anyway keep up the venev videos coming! I always look forward to watching those.

      Hi Dude I have a chosera and kind nagura but I prefer the silicon carbide stone since it’s more aggressive. Thanks for the input though!
