‘Absolute carnage’ in Alice Springs is ‘heart-breaking’

- Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson says the “absolute carnage” taking place in his town is heart-breaking as the crime situation ramps up.
He said all crime statistics are going the “wrong direction”, with house and commercial break-ins rising as well as domestic violence calls.
“We got told that more policing down here is not sustainable for Alice Springs, well the level of crime and anti-social behaviour here is not sustainable for Alice Springs to continue either,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.
This isn't just an Australian problem either, it's happening nearly all over the globe. There is simply NO ONE wanting to get tough enough to stamp it out due to the fact no one is allowed to tell the truth anymore.
That’s rite. They won’t say it’s young black inner city males in America murdering, raping and looting because then you would be called raycist and YOU ARE THE PROBLEM, not the murderers, rapists and looters.
Well said, it will get worse.
All done on purpose. Destruction of communities has something to do with marxism.
Got it in a nutshell. I first thought when watching this , who the hell is doing this?
The media is part of the problem. Do your job and report the truth
Yep the truth hurts but if everyone pretends not to see then its cool.
I was born and raised in Alice Springs and have lived here for most of my life, and in that time I have seen many changes, some good and some bad. In nearly 50 years of living here I have seen floods, droughts, bush fires, and many a famous celebrities, and infamous cases, like the Azaria Chamberlain case or the Peter Falconio murder, but I have never seen crime of this kind or the scale of violence that is seen every day. I work in hospitality and have so in over 20 years, and I can tell you that tourism has dropped dramatically over the years. And the problem is not just in Alice Springs, but through out the Northern Territory. People who hear about the level of crime and violence don't want to come here, and honestly I can't say I blame them. A few people to come here and they are shocked in what they see. It's not what I want people to see or experience, for the Northern Territory has so much for visitors to see and do. Now before anyone can say that I am being dramatic or racist, let me tell you that I am indigenous man and like many other indigenous people who were born here, we want our town back, not in hands of other indigenous individuals who don't live here, who act like thugs. Right now the laws favour the criminal elements and don't do justice for hard working taxpayers, and that needs to change. To the politicians of Australia, do something right now, or come the next elections you'll be out of job.
There's a shocking amount of racist sentiment on these comments...I live in Ireland, and there's history here of British colonialism, Australia was a penal colony...like America, Australia as a nation, is very new, a few hundred years old, displacing cultures and civilisations thousands of uears ols , punishing people who cannot or will not live in the new way..
I was in Alice Springs nearly five years ago for 7 weeks and fell in love with area. The McDonald ranges are hauntingly beautiful. I am so sorry for what the residents of the Alice are going through now, and that outsiders are giving the locals a bad name. People in the city really know nothing of your culture apart from what is put on show for the tourists. Aboriginal people in remote areas are trying to live by tribal law and the white man's laws too. Doesn't work, add drugs and alcohol and you have a recipe for disaster. For all people. I wish you well Norman and I hope that some semblance of peace can be restored to your home.

We will not let that happen in the USA
There will be a civil war here first. They will pry our guns out of lifeless hands. That's the only way they will get them. There is always a segment of society that will commit as much "carnage" as you allow them to.
A solution to the problem would be:
1) To hold the offender [or their parent(s) and/or Aboriginal Corporation] to account - WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
2) Tell all the do-gooder Social Workers etc to piss off - their approach DOESN'T work.
3) Get more Police on the ground, and LOCK UP the offenders.
4) Offenders to be removed from the community: ie: being convicted and imprisoned for offences.
5) STOP offender's access to alcohol and/or illicit substances.
If you think this only happens in Alice Springs you are sadly mistaken.

Technically they are not part of Australian federation, but are under the Commonwealth.
I spent many years in Alice Springs and left in 2007 when even then, things were becoming a little dodgy, what a good decision that was. I recall the Communist Party's hysterical and negative response to John Howard's intervention in the naughties. It's ironic though that many community elders remarked that the intervention was "the best thing that's ever happened to us" and were grateful to the Federal Liberal Party and the ADF members who delivered medical, dental and supportive services to remote communities. It was also worthy of note that any local Labor heavies didn't live in areas of town that were, shall we say, "infected" with the very group now under scrutiny.
everything the Left touches becomes a disaster eventually (in this case: Labor)
Naturally the communist party is aching for overthrow. It's their only thought. Never mind their murder rate in the 1900s topping 100 million. Still people support it!!!

I visited Alice Springs about fifteen years ago and felt apprehensive going out at night then, so I think there has always been a sinister underbelly to the town. Clearly there are massive problems with the aboriginal population there, made worse by successive government policies. All the left have in response to problems they invariably make is more virtue signalling, but sorting out lawlessness requires a firm, uncompromising hand, and the current Australian government or even the previous liberal government is incapable of being strong because they fear the bleeding heart leftie brigade. The Solomon Islands, a country located in the Pacific Ocean, experienced a period of civil unrest in the early 2000s, similarly. The town of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Australia, has recently been facing a number of social and economic issues, including high rates of crime and unemployment. In response to the crisis in Solomon's, the Australian government sent the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to assist in restoring order and maintaining peace in the region. Similarly, in light of the challenges facing Alice Springs, the local government has reached out to the Federal Government for assistance in addressing these problems.
However, it appears that the current attitude of the Federal Government towards the situation in Alice Springs has been less than responsive. Even though the local government of Alice Springs had extended an invitation for assistance, the Federal Government has yet to take meaningful action. It is unclear what has caused this lack of action, but it is a concerning development for the people of Alice Springs, who continue to face significant challenges in their communities.

A 90-year-old woman can fend off a grown man wielding a machete with even a small shotgun. Way to go Australia! You took away the rights of the weakest and now this is what you get.
How frightening and awful ..take care
I'd like to see a conversation with elders and leaders in the communities in this
The elders have already kicked most of the worst trash out of the communities. That's what ends up in Alice Springs.
@@axle.australian.patriot I'd still like to hear their pov. Are the crims getting locked up or they just letting them off
@@whatda38 Can't lock up indigenous criminals, it's a crime against humanity and racist.
@@whatda38 The genuine elders, not the ones sitting in the land council or shaping up for the Voice seats, are pretty decent in my own experience. They don't want the crime either which is why they kick out the worst of them.. they then end up in AS. The local (genuine AS) indigenous are not to bad, it;s mostly the blow ins.
@@axle.australian.patriot 100% agree
Is this happening in other places in Aus? NZ is having issues like this in recent history.
Imagine the noise if one of these children was killed by police ....
The Voice at work and it hasn't even come in yet.
Rolfe resentment + alcohol = acting out in rage & violence.
God bless Zach Rolfe! Did what any reasonable person would do! Respect work and respect workers!
I visited Alice Springs over 20 yrs ago and was shocked how bad it was. My elderly friend was assaulted in B-road daylight by a group of locals for taking a photo of the church building.
My wife and I are new grey nomads. We were looking forward to visiting Alice and the NT, We are very worried that it is not safe. We have friends who were camping in Alice when they hear their spare wheel and a generator stolen from the back of the caravan.
Hmm just research what Indige mob did to German and Finnish female backpackers there at gunpoint in their camper van a few years ago! Still wanna camp there?
Law and order should NEVER EVER be a political issue. Law-abiding citizens have a right to feel safe WHEREVER they choose to live. If the federal government refuses to help these people simply because they are voters that traditionally support the opposing party (for example by supporting Liberal), Albanese should voluntarily resign as PM for failure to perform one of the most basic functions of government: maintaining law and order. What kind of country are we in that we can just change the rules regarding access to alcohol, and just those changes can cause a whole community to run amok and get terrorised mainly by bored juvenile delinquents?
The only things that I can see that will work are by locking up the kids causing all the trouble for a good while (to give them time to change their ways) and reinstating the previous alcohol ban because the current situation clearly doesn't work.
Wow, so it's the symptom you think is the problem. The wef is successful if so
Where are all the so called youth, juvinle children's departments and the so called landcouncil departments ? Their silence is deafening. These tax paid mob are obviously failing. Back to school should be first on the list . Stop blaming everyone else ,they need to take responsibility for themselves.
Couldn't agree more and they want to create a voice when they are not listening to the people now
In Bali for their annual vacation?
This is the result, when people are treated differently, never arrested, just moved on, to be some-one else's problem , no respect for people, or property, or animals , from a very early age , and this becomes their culture , but yes, of course, some good people out their, also .
Grog and drugs. Behaviour out of control. NOBODY to stop it NOW.
Australians should have never given up their guns. ☹🌏🇺🇸🙏🏼💞
What has that got to do this
We in Australia prefer our children go to school without having to wear bulletproof backpacks to survive it..🇦🇺

An armed society is a polite society. Crime drops significantly when criminals know there's a steep price to pay.
Where are the parents?
Fix that, fix the problem
Parents?! They bread them for baby bonus $! They are too busy boozing.
@@aidanbutcher8817 yep, and they'll blame the white fellas for their problems
...and of course, these property owners are not allowed to defend themselves with any form of force. Because of political pressure, policing is also handicapped as officers always work under the threat of media ridicule for taking lawful actions against offenders, especially indigenous offenders.
Put it this way if I was allowed to hurt the Indige mob I would! Pre 1960’s if you hit one on the road or they were on your farm you could fix them without punishment.
Welcome to the world, we in South Africa have been living with this for years!! You get used to it over time, don't expect any help from your government!
This is a shame. I visited Alice Springs for a few days in July of 2002 and it was a beautiful town. Sorry to hear about this going on.
A lot of dangerous 13 year olds have been born since 2002 and they are all on the Ramarama!
Sorry. man.
Just shocking and so sad
How about stupid lefty governments treat all people equally. Aboriginal thugs and violent drunks destroying communities all over Australia. Can't wait for the voice. Albonese is a horrible little man.
If a child under 12 is involved, charge the parents for child neglect.
Apparently it’s safer for the kids to be out than to be at home. Sad state of affairs.
Incredibly sad
Went there 4 yrs ago on way to th rock and we needed supplies from Coles, security at th exits cops outside! As they fill trolleys and try to walk out, shops had doors shut and looked closed until you went near the shop keepers said have to keep them closed as indigenous walk in and steal anything then just walk out, could not wait to get out of town.😎
I have seen mauraudering gangs of Indige kids just tear smokes out of the mouths of people sitting down peacefully!
I have seen the library turn into a gangland so badly they had a permanent security guard in it!
And people ask, "why do I carry high powered firearms in my vehicle at all times"? I'll give you one guess.
My son was working in Alice during Covid @ the plane graveyard and although they lived in a compound the amount of aboriginal kid’s stealing cars and breaking in the apartment in the compound was ridiculous & forget about going out @ night, only safe place was the golf club. Wouldn’t dare go to Woolworths after dark with the kids roaming around & Im speaking about 8-10 year olds. There needs to be no grog and hold the parents responsible & put the kids in the ruddy army for 2 years
We all know that you are right! So all this time can you guess what’s stopped us?! UN policies! Being dictated to us we never voted for!
Sounds a bit like Port Hedland, Karratha & Wickham in WA! The youth are no longer listening to elders, there is no respect for anything and you really need to live in these areas & be constantly worried for you safety, the safety of your families to really understand what it is like living in a town with these issues. Politicians need to go spend a month in these areas….! Throwing money at it is not working.
There needs to be zero alcohol sold to the indigenous and zero tolerance towards crime. More police and harsher penalties in order to protect those who live and work in the town. Nothing else works. Kids need to be put into detention with enforceable rehab. I was there last year. Nothing can currently be done to stop the juveniles. Money needs to be found to save Alice. We need another movie. A town like Alice 2023.
@@kerilockwood7819 I can see a sequel “A town like Chindia” 2043” . It features :- box like houses, petrol stations, cabbies . There are no Whites and Indige mob there because everybody got replaced by “Chindia” nation wide.
@@kerilockwood7819 Keri, I lived up in the Pilbara for 7 years…the bottolo has a cage around it, security on the gate, but the indigenous send one person in to get the alcohol for them, sit around the town getting plastered, then Harassing the shops, people going about their business. We couldnt buy fruit one day because one drunk indigenous person stripped off, ran into the shop & rubbed himself all over the fruit…this is what happens. You have to live there to really see what goes on…now given that we only had 1 truck a week come up to bring supplies to the store…I can tell you there was a shortage of fruit on the family table that week. You learn to buy only on packages, you padlock your outdoor fridges (yes we had outdoor fridges for cold drinks) anything that you dont want stolen & you dont leave any cash in your car…they will smash your car windows to get it. In one week we had a windscreen in 1 car and 2 side windows in another to replace. You didnt have lock up garages in the mining town I lived in so you were limited. Car insurance up there is through the roof, likewise house insurance. Its a terrible way to live and if you take away alcohol altogether from all the people who live there, you have unhappy workers, who work hard in the heat & red dirty for their money…its impossible, the have systems for the bottle stores, they break into your property to get what they want & the only way to get around all the…bring back closed towns for the workers. There needs to also be more responsibility by the indigenous authorities to do more to help their own people too. Just blaming everyone else for the problems within their communities and asking for more Govt funding is not the answer. Its not easy to live, work and be safe in these areas, I still have children & family living in the Pilbara and they are sick of the car theft, the break-ins & crime up there. Its bad.
Currently staying overnight in a motel at Pt Augusta (a compound really). Here and at Whyalla you now need ID to buy grog, so kudos to them for having a go because this place has problems too.
In America, most of us law abiding citizens who want to protect our property and our family pack heat, just saying. Alice Springs and the rest of the NT, I wish you well.
Well it’s a good thing we don’t here in AUS. We can recover from violence but not from a massacre
I was in Alice Springs in the early 90's. It was a very welcoming community. If they need help with controlling persons causing damage, ruining livelihoods of the citizens, help them. The not my problem attitude needs to stop.
But what do you do? The Govt won’t assist, if you go take justice into your hands legally you aren’t the “protected species “ here. Plus you can bet you’ll bump into the crooks again and they are very vindictive!
Go to the Queensland Statehouse and sit in the hallways. Don't move, continue to visit your statesman for the district. If you are respectful, contact the news agency, things may turn out for the better. You can't live in fear.

This is the fallout from Martial Law that was enacted during the NT Intervention
