    I enjoyed this so very much. As a long time art instructor myself, I was so impressed with your teaching technique. Your voice is very soothing, your instructions are clear and precise, and you present the instructions in such a relaxed manner, ie you speak slowly enough that even beginners would be able to keep up, but not so slowly as to be boring. I’m really looking forward to watching many more of your videos. Thank you for your willingness to share.

I wish I could get the Smarta air dry clay over here in the UK, as it's way too expensive to have it shipped here from the US, which is a shame.Thank you so much for this video. I would love to see you make a poppy. I know they’re simple, but they are so beautiful. Also, i have a niece who loves tulips. I would like to make a painting for her of tulips on canvas. What i have in mind is maybe a nine by twelve canvas. I want three tulips, placed at an angle from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. I want the tulips to be hmmm, i think one yellow, with the other two red, with touches of yellow in the center of the petals and at the top edges of the tulips. I see the stems as quite long, with maybe a single leaf. What i haven’t figured out yet is (1) should i make the tulips, then glue them on? Or do i attempt forming them directly onto the prepared canvas?
    I would love to see you do a demo on this. Thank you so much for considering my idea.

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  Před rokem

      Sounds like you have a plan, I personally would make them flat and then glue them on once dry so they are secure.
      Yes a poppy would’ve lovely too 😊

    This was really good Sarah. We don't get DAS or Smarta in India but will try with which air dry clay I get. I know it's achievable with the home made cold porcelain clay surely. Thanks again pretty.

    Love your video! What is the width of your petals? I've read somewhere that the thinner your project the more likely it is that air-dry clay will crack so you have to make it at least a 1/4 of an inch thick.

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  Před rokem +1

      yes I normally say not to go thinner than a quarter inch too, but this was a challenge and the first ones are a new version/brand of air drying clay, the second one i made is regular air dry clay and although i made them, they were very very fragile this thin yes.

      Hi Diana, I am hoping this clay will become much more widely available, they are a new company. I have not used Crayola model magic, does it have a more plastic feel to it when dry?

    • @DianasCraftyCastle

      @@RedRockingBird Hi, Sarah, and thanks for replying. ☺️ The Crayola Model Magic feels sponges not like plastic, so I guess it’s not the same type. I’ll keep an eye out for Smarta. I do so love your tutorials. You have helped me get started working with clay and so far most things are successes. I thank you and always look forward to your videos. 😁

      The smarta clay is very hard to cut once dry, if you try to snap it when it is this thin then yes you can snap it. But very strong when thicker
