This was wonderful. On a side thought, my new soldier in training, my 20 year old son, in Army Basic, just donated blood for the first time in his life. I raised my kids with the thought they would save lives, and this was his response when he told me that he did not FAINT, but he knew his blood would save a life.

Truly a gift and thank you for your son's selfless service to our nation! My God keep him safe and may he leads others in a manner that inspires others to give their best measure.

Joe, For some reason I typed your name on you tube. As I listened to you speak a few things crossed my mind. First, nice job getting rid of your old "Sheboygan" accent. Lol. Second, I recalled fun memories of our youth and stupid crazy stuff I made you do. But third and most importantly I felt pride to call you my friend. I had no idea Drew went through that. Your a great public speaker and using your own personal experiences with your son's condition is EXCACTLY how to capture and motivate your audience. Well Done ! The previous 2 commentors obviously cant " read between the lines" to comprehend the entire spectrum and vast circumstances it takes to be a leader and servant. God Bless the surgeons and Marines and your family. Your friend, Steve Kinney

Thanks Steve, you are right, the story is much more about how my commander stopped everything to go out of his way to care for one Marine (me) who needed his leadership, his network, his support and he changed my life and lit a fire within me that will never be extinguished! The commander elevated my needs above the national strategic requirement of his command, he cancelled his flight to practice combat missions, and he without my knowledge held the largest blood drive in the bases history in hopes my son would have the blood needed to survive. There could be no more perfect example of servant leadership by elevating others. Today, I am fortunate to practice servant leadership for millions of Veterans as a National VA leader. Thanks for the generous and kind comments sir and I continue to engage, inspire, and put our employees and customers first because one leader did this for me. Semper Fidelis.

Just to be sure I didn't miss the point about Servant Leadership, I forced myself to be patient and watch it to the end, I still hardly grasp his point about Servant Leadership. Really? Is that it? And he gives talks on Servant Leadership all over the country?
