Toyota Veloz Officially Launched in Malaysia - 7-seater SUV, RM95,000/Quick Preview/YSKhong Driving.

- The much awaited Toyota Veloz is finally here in Malaysia, and will be in showrooms starting from tomorrow morning.
The Veloz is built on the same platform as the Perodua Alza, and shares the same mechanocals: however the build is slightly different: ground clearance is 190mm, about 30mm higher than that of the Alza, and the tuning approach is more towards a sporty SUV. Thus the suapension tuning is different, with the Veloz claiming to provide more sporty handling.
The wheels are 17- inch with lower profile tyres than in the Alza, and there are a pair of roof rails for those who want to fit a roof box. With proper rails, the rood box or rack can take a total of 75 kg of load.
The Veloz also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the full complement of Toyota Safety Sense.
Price is RM95,000 OTR without insurance.

Uncle, u missed out the 'Long Sofa mode' which is another selling point for this car. The middle seats can be slide forward and fold the recliner to make it a 'Long Sofa ' mode.

Please do a test drive up to genting with all seven seats taken up by adults. Need to see how does the engine perform in reality and also interview the people in the last row to understand how it feels
It will go up, but not at the same speed. It will need to go slower because of the additional weight, plus the driving dynamics will be affected. Dont know if I can find 6 others who wont puke.

There is a designed purpose and a target market for such a vehicle. It may not be for you if you need a lot of power and also have the need to carry more people. Then you may need the Innova or the Alphard. The Veloz is for those who want an affordable vehicle.

Depends on the mobility of the wheelchair-bound person.
TBH, we did not try, so I cannot really tell you. Perhaps a flat and low floor vehicle like the Alphard may be more suitable

IMO worth if this is ur private car for private usage.. toyota well known for its parts quality and durability.. interior plastic r more superior compare to perodua.. tried to use fingernail to run through the door panel.. perodua aruz immediently leave marks while rush doesnt..
Wow, to get a Toyota brand with those sort of pricing is quite good. You will never see a Toyota brand this cheap in the previous decade or any time before this. I do think Toyota is trying to fight with Proton (which is under Gilly) and Perodua (Daihatsu remake) for the Malaysian consumers. But all I can say is this, Toyota in Malaysia comes from Thailand. Bear in mind that the Toyota and Honda brands are like Proton and Perodua in Malaysia.
Have you seen the Yaris and Vios? And the Avanza before this?

@@YSKhongDriving Yes uncle people complain a lot no matter what but a turbo should be better for Veloz. 1st A turbo could differentiate between a Veloz and Alza. 2nd turbo actually increase efficiency. For a light footed driver it might actually saves fuel. Heavy footed driver only god help them. 3rd Toyota can actually make money out of it by selling turbo kit for Alza owners install at authorized Toyota service center. Its a win win situation but that is only my personal view. Toyota is such a huge corporation, my view does not matter.
Toyota give us more masculine look/design with the line and the grill, fuhh. Plus much more exclusive interior design & color compare to alza ( alza seat color quite funny, prefer all black color seat ). Lucky me cancelled my alza booking, definitely ill go with veloz.

But there are many features for Alza that don’t have. Alza have no ambient lightning, automatic aircond, telescopic steering, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto, wireless charging and others that Alza don’t have. Alza ground clearance is not as high as Veloz. Even space and comfort for Veloz is also better than Alza. Quality for service center between Toyota and Perodua are different
