    No way am I changing my seat it's perfect, but I'm a bike rider and I'm use to tiny hard seats so a motorcycle seat feels like a couch to me. Plus I love the Kawasaki branding on it. Great video keep up the good work.

    Love mine. So far I think the 13t sprocket was the best bang for the buck.

    For around 15 cents I corrected my low RPM AFR surging, misfiring problem. I learned this after spending around $1000 on a power commander plus dyno tuning and still had the surging/misfiring problem. After studying EFI and buying an AFR gauge I had a smooth running engine and increased my MPG by 22%, The power commander is in my junk box.
    I bought the bike new and Yamaha customer service told me not to ride the bike in parks or shopping center parking lots so that the misfiring/jerking would not bother me. That is all they were willing to do for me. $13,000 wasted
    If one buys a lemon they own a lemon. It is their lemon.

    Well done & very straight-forward review. Friends that own this bike, like the KLX250 owners below, also cited the 13t Sprocket as the single best upgrade if they could only make or fund a single change. And while the KLX250 will stay on my short-list, my overall concern with the quantity of upgrades is the rapidly accumulating & total cost of implementing most, in not all, of these upgrades, relative to simply increasing your budget for a slightly bigger, better and definitely more powerful dual sport. It seems to simply make more financial sense to go that route versus subjecting yourself to not only the significant costs of all of these improvements, but also the time required to install them and most concerning of all, the risks to messing up the bike's overall functionality. We all have to draw the line somewhere.

    • @jhmotorclub6916
      @jhmotorclub6916  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! You are certainly correct. Absolute great starter bike for building skills and even allows for rider growth to push the limits of the bike. However, it gets to a point where the bike's shortcomings come to light. I still wouldn't change the way I did it, because it is necessary to build skills on a "smaller" bike, rather than riding a "big" bike slow to learn the fundamentals

    Number one for me is going to be barkbusters. If you're going to ride offroad regularly you need those bark busters. I've dropped my KLX at least a hundred times offroad and those things are worth their weight in gold. Skid plate is nice to have too. I got a 2018 like you, and I've definitely got some gripes :P . I went with the Renthal bars myself. Great video brother. Mirin' that seat.

  • @eljuano28
    @eljuano28 Před 3 lety +2

    Solid list, my dude. My own opinion is pretty much the same except the order. First to last, my opinion is: tires, 14/51 gears, bars and bash-guards, stage one, (with MCM, 'cause BB is a bit rich for me,) fuel tank. I don't look at suspension dial in as an extra unless you're actually replacing components and I feel dialing in sag and dampening is just part of owning any bike. Seat would be nice, but it's more important on road than off unless you're idea of off is mostly easy fire roads. Clipping the ugly tail feathers is desirable, but I'm function over form, so not high on the list. I love the energy in this video, especially considering the mental toll of the injury. Great way to deal with that. See you in the next video.

  • @szymonchalupka
    @szymonchalupka Před 3 lety +4

    For me the best mods to be fast offroad are tyres, suspension and 13 tooth sprocket. Next ones are wider and stronger bar with some decent hand guards. And it's done. Moving from powerful roadbikes to KLX I really don't care if this thing has 18 or 24 horsepower. It is going to be slow anyway and this bike is meant to be like that. If I was lacking power I would get 2 stroke KTM or Husqvarna. But that's just my point of view.

    • @jhmotorclub6916
      @jhmotorclub6916  Před 3 lety +1

      Valid point! Different perspectives bring on the need for different mods, just so long as you get the fun out of it! Sounds like you will have it setup well for off road

    • @szymonchalupka
      @szymonchalupka Před 3 lety +1

      @@jhmotorclub6916 indeed, it's great that you can upgrade this bike for any specific need that you have. And it will always be so much fun to own and ride. I traded my KTM 790 Duke for KLX 250 and couldn't be happier.

    • @jhmotorclub6916
      @jhmotorclub6916  Před 3 lety

      I just painted mine. Well, I did mine in bedliner coating. If you do this, be sure to scuff your plastics with some sandpaper to allow it to stick first. I did not do that because I wanted to keep my plastics clean lol. So, the coating comes off pretty easy if I hit something. I'm going to redo it and scuff the plastics before I coat them.

  • @tieoneon1614
    @tieoneon1614 Před 3 lety

    I did full FMF, programmer etc....Best money spent was Q4 slip on, O2 sensor delete and chip {16$} and 13t sprocket. Cycle Gear bar risers with stock bars rolled forward. AND keep that rear tire under 110-100 cuz the rotating mass sapped a lot of power. The chip acted like a fuel programmer, tricked ECU to send full fuel so no hesitation or backfire after the pipe installed. I hated the FMF Megabomb, it shifted the power to low rpm instead up mid/upper where it ripped.

    • @jhmotorclub6916
      @jhmotorclub6916  Před 3 lety

      On my 2013 or so, there are different chip tunings. If you pull the clutch the mapping is adjusted to give you ~3 more hp. Don’t know how it works. I let the shop do it.

    • @MaxMustermann-bm7qt
      @MaxMustermann-bm7qt Před 2 lety

      Don’t ever change the exhaust costs too much for a few hp. Just sell the thing if you got too good for it. Except of course if you enjoy the tuning. Have fun with the bike, solid 5/7! Ahh and when they activated the other map, they increased my rev limiter. That helps greatly highways.
