General reminder: repairing cosmetic damage to an automobile is expensive, but just not worrying about it is free.
true, and you almost never see it because you sit inside the car.... when there is rust then you should fix it but everything else is just stupid cosmetics
Even more, if it bothers you, you just do what the previor owner did, just fix the thing not buys a new one. Did not buy a new 1000$+ door, just fixed it for 200$ job done.
Yeah I left my 2008 Sentra all dented up. Nobody dares to get close to it because it will be my old car versus your new bank owned vehicle if you get in my way.
Not everyone wants to drive piece of shit beat up cars
@@HotRed00 yup and the dents over time will cause damage to the paint and lead to peeling , rust etc
I always feel a bit bad when the local cheap body shop guys come in and buy out all our Bondo on a Thursday afternoon. I know a ton of cars are getting "fixed" before the weekend. This is exactly what happenns.
well, the carpaint testers are dirt cheap so if someone buys a car like that he can only blame himself. Trust me i know, owned 7 cars in my life not one was collision free. Finaly matured to buy my 8th one that is.
@@vubevube that sounds like a you problem to be honest, I've had maybe around 9 cars now and only one had been in a collision that I knew about.
@@galaxydrifter9799 you missed my point entirely. Never said that was a problem. I was aware of what i was doing so i didn't blame anyone.
should be special glasses to see bondo...
I think it was probably the wrap shop they went to. Most of them would “fix” damage under then wrap them.
I love how the red Mitsubishi is covered in plastic but the Mclaren is just there taking in all that white cocoa dust.
Because the bishimitsu is worth more than a larenmc
To be fair, most of those cars are probably very familiar with white powder.

I think the cleaning bill for the shop might outweigh the damage.
Lmao
Nah all you need is a good air compressor and a long hose
Been waiting a little bit for this, glad you're doing it right, shows how much you appreciate your cars Freddy.
Just doing this to provide content, if he goes around checking all his other cars he’ll go broke
Is this your first time watching Tavarish?
That's why your going broke Freddy. Gotta say that AMG is WORTHY of doing right.
Also he's pulling in millions of views, so it's a win win.
Who thought it was a bright idea to do that inside and without a mask? Florida man strikes again
You should help Jack start his own channel. He does a good job explaining the techniques and issues. Of course, keep him on your payroll. And, give him a raise.
You could call it Sand Everyday!
He's a great addition
That's what happens when insurance adjusters give a shop less than it takes to do it right so they put the cheapest apprentice in the shop on the job
That’s when you apply for supplements dude. The insurance provides an ESTIMATE to which the shop is obliged to review and adding things is as simple as sending a revised estimate and a phone call to the adjuster or their supervisor
I bet the previous owner turned into one of the barriers at a gas station for the right side to be damaged like that. It's opposite of the driver's side, the fuel door is on that side, and it's a big car. I bet it was a much bigger car than they were used to. I wonder if there is any damaged or damage done to the right rear side suspension.
It's funny because a lot of cars hit those things.
I feel like that would have done more damage in a smaller spot, if they just kept driving after the first hit and for it to hit all the way down they would have had to keep turning in and it would be way worst towards the rear!
I do a bit of body work as a custom car fabricator, I think either he's had a motorbike or something light ish go down the side or he's clamped a wheelie bin or something kind of movable or collapsible and driven through it!......
Honestly I think it was a hit and run.
Probably someone hit something, paniced, and they kept going.
@@ViolentMLG based on what, your blind thoughts or is their a specific thing in this that makes you think that?
*buys wife a 32 ft long boat*
Now I know what to do if my car gets side swiped.
1) Get several gallons of bondo and apply liberally.
2) paint
3) apply wrap
4) unload on a sucker impressed with "Cheapest _______ on the internet" tag.
I'm surprised you guys don't use any paint job meter, it's a very useful little tool that can tell if the paint job is even across the entire vehicle and you don't need to tap or knock on the panels to guess if the spot had some repairs on it.
What?! Back to back video days!! Woohoo!!
he does back to back videos for a bit then goes back to hiding, making more videos 😆
2 episodes in 24 hours…man we are blessed
My favorite part of any repair video is taking a trip to the comment section to hear what all the real professionals have to say! Regardless if it's motors, Bondo or car washing they always show up to inform everyone else about what's right and their years of experience! This Bud is for you Mr. I am a car God!
Honestly, for me, the fact that the car looked as good as it did is a miracle.
@@OutsideDuhBox found the guy that did the work.
You could see the waves on camera a mile away. It was bad. There were missing body lines. It's literally caked on Bondo with fatigued metal under it. I hope you don't do body work, let alone do it on a car worth any more than a 90's civic.
@@OutsideDuhBox for all aluminum like that, yes. The doors had to be replaced. If it wasn't so f'd from the apprentice work, then likely much cheaper...but a lot of that price was the two doors. Even a proper quarter replacement is pretty involved. It's a Mercedes, so I don't see why it's outside the realm of buy once cry once. If it was an old shit box or something with less value, no way. But to understate the end product as 10% better is blasphemous.
My speed 3 was hit by someone blasting 80 into stopped traffic and nudged a full size SUV into me in the next lane. Anyway that needed the whole quarter (hatch back goes from wheel well to up over to front door) that alone (no doors or other damage) was like 6 k. Fortunately was covered by insurance... barely was cheap enough to stay in value. Moral of a story , that was a Mazda...not a Mercedes. The price quoted is reasonable all things considered.
@@OutsideDuhBox I wouldn’t consider the awful panels gaps on the drivers side and the sketchy body lines on the passenger side and caked on filler “done right”
@@OutsideDuhBox The big picture is, it gave him content to make this video which has netted him around $60k in 3 days.
Not bad on the rating scale. There was a classic Ferrari that has 5-6” of bondo making up the nose cone on a rebuild a while back that must have rated an 11. The guy repairing it called the person who put it there a classical sculptor as it was impressive to have made that much bondo fool so many people.
Tavarish, now that’s it’s too late for you, how about mentioning how to avoid the worst of these disasters aka use of a Paint Thickness Gauge.
The car was wrapped.
How does a paint thickness gauge help with detecting excessive body filler?
@@garykuhn1921 - Thanks, missed that fact.
@@starfox_wr-45e93 a paint thickness gauge measures the depth from the surface to the base. If it’s more than several mils thick, most likely it has bondo.
Step 1- don’t look for the cheapest example of a car.
Also keep the V12 engine in top condition, a new one costs min. $90.000. Also keep a eye on the catalyst converter, a collapsed cat can be sucked thruh the turbos into the combustion chamber and ruin the cylinder shafts. They are not to replace as they are of ALUSIL alloy. ALUSIL means the cylinder is made of a silicon-alumnium alloy and the inside of the shaft is grinded with acid. So nannometers of aluminuim are taken away and the surface where the piston (piston seals) moves over is pure silicon with a oil film - this causes very less friction, but it can not be fixed with a shaft case - (driling oversize and insert a new shaft liner) if the shaft is done.
Run a vacuum while sanding easy fix
FR, we had a Festool vacuum DA sander + vacuum block sander and the floor below would barely have any dust on it
If it's not right paint it white.Thank for all the amazing content Tavarish 😀
I wouldn't be sanding , without a mask , apart from that , interesting stuff
8:48 With that level of damage and cost, it would have been best to leave well enough alone. There is a reason cheap cars are cheap.
Bad damage makes good content, Freddie essentially gets this repair for free lol.
Love that you hired Jack...between Jack n Jared you can only go up from here....those 2 guys are very educational....epic content...thank you Jack. You know your stuff. Glad to see u join the channel...God bless all
S65 is such a great car. The trick to enjoying them, is to have a friend or family member buy one. You can still see it, drive it, enjoy it. Without all of the associated costs of ownership.
Jack is both a pro comedian and car repair expert! Kudos!
That’s ridiculous tavarish….but you’re gonna get done right!!!
Ok, this part with Jack explaining all the body work 'gotchas' is WONDERFUL! This is good stuff.
This reminds me of my brother's 240sx. Bought it and it had a bashed in quarter panel with tons of bondo and house paint covering it. Somehow my brother and father got it pulled out and smooth with hammers and dies. With the help of a torch they managed to return strength to the metal.
Jack's explanations are interesting to hear. Thank you for this video.
I think you need to prepare the shop with special body room to avoid dust goes all over the place..
Been waiting for this! Hope to see more German cars on the channel, maybe an Audi 👀

Great work Guys! I’m sure it’ll be amazing… eventually. Thanks for another update video.
You should wear a mask my man, even when your just sanding. Glad you eventually put one on! :)
LMAO the bang bros...hand usage....lmao I'm hollering 😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂
This Merc definitely deserves to be saved. Great video as usual. Please keep up the good work. I'd love to see what it looks like with the new doors installed. Thank you.
From the Mercedes S63 is the best car I can't afford about 6 years ago to fixing your own 2015 S65. Man im proud of you.
I thought “Yo man, put on a mask before you start grinding! That dust will destroy your lungs!!” and then they finally put on masks LOL
Have yet to see an American CZcamsr take safety precautions seriously.
@@GrahamCampbell-kr2gz you need to look at videos of people in these third-world countries I should say Craftsmen in these third-world countries running lathes welders Grinders and heavy equipment wearing loose-fitting clothing and sandals because it is so hot on dirt floors in buildings with no windows or doors or painting and spraying with no respirators or breathing apparatus and you can add smoking around flammable liquids. Then you can come here and talk about our lack of safety and health concerns. If they were wearing respirators you would be complaining about the audio. These guys aren't stupid and what you see is a couple minutes of them doing something without safety equipment. You people are tiresome.
@@davidclemens1578 These people are influencers, setting an example for viewers to follow. Bendpak give them lifts because they know it will increase sales - they know the influence these people have with their audience. They have a responsibility to their audience to promote safety and honesty. It's the right thing to do. Comparing an American to a Vietnamese is stupid in the extreme. USA is supposed to be a 'World leader' not a 3rd world country with dodgy practices. Tiresome is listening to American BS about their guns, McDonalds cuisine, healthcare and watching their lack of education.
@@GrahamCampbell-kr2gz - agree, and those 3rd world practices are only that because they just don't have the equipment to do anything differently.
I was thinking - why aren't you doing this outside, or in a different room, or in a plastic bag, rather than cover the entire workshop with dust?
@@thosdot6497 Exactly - Car Wizard and many others use 'Hairnets' to cover cars. Dust extraction attached to sanders is readily available. Could even put in prep and spray booths, or plastic curtains if you want to cheap out
You two are working together nicely, great project
Love what ur doing keep the videos 📹 coming buddy
1:54 THIS is the reason we all need a Jack on our team. Hang the doors on the wall!! Nothing is wasted!!😄😄
Question: So do you sand the whole car to be safe instead of just one side of the car? How do you know there is no damage in the other side?
Love the MB content 👍
Finally. I was waiting for this video, just hoped it will be longer
I find it funny how in the background the car that is very expensive isn’t covered but yet a jdm car is the only one covered
Because JDM is worth more will last longer and has a nostalgia value don't nobody care about no McLaren that breaks easier than glass........to be honest the 3000 has horrible reliability but it's STILL more reliable than a McLaren
Top stuff! Jack paint guy knows his stuff!
YESSS!! NEW LOOK!! HAMMERED & BATTERED ALLUMINUM!!!!
One thing to note you guys, wear a mask when doing all the sanding, the amount of chemicals and particles in the air that you could breath would be crazy. I think we all want more cars and content in the future so stay healthy!
I love what you do, you're so hard working
Welcome back you have been missed.
I just keep hearing those Earl Scheib commercials from my youth. "We can Paint any car for $99."
I used to do a lot of body repairs on GRP milk floats, the DAs and other Sanders we used had an attachment for a hoover to cut down the amount of dust from filler and GRP repair. I'm sure Jack is used to using a similar setup as a body repair guy. Also I used to have a much better mask for the dust with replacement filters, not just a simple dust mask, although I was doing these repairs every day
i love the "HELP" on the windshield at the end of the video
I had a '64 Gran Prix someone had patched with a Bonneville quarter, so when I cut the spears out of the quarters there was a whole set of those worms from where the Bonneville letters were supposed to go.
Would be amazing to do a mini series of what its like daily driving your other cars whilst this one is getting work done.
2 o'clock in the morning in germany and tavarish uploaded a Vlog 😀
Love all your videos bro
Had t seen a notification lately. Glad to see you posting. Now to enjoy the video.
Always entertaining and informative!
Although, that right rear quarter panel seems to be badly damaged, replace it as a whole unit?
Dude finally, drop us a random video every now and then

I love how you cover that Mitzubitzi but not the Mclaren 😂😂😂
That’s totally damage from the pillars in any parkade !!
Thats crazeeeeeeeeee , your so crazeeeee Tavarish
Tavarish, you really know how to pick 'em!
I’m betting they spent more time and effort trying to get the bondo right, then the doors and fenders would cost. I would have no idea that the work is done poorly.
Surprised that you guys weren't wearing full on respirators when stripping off all of that paint/bondo.
here in the first minute, i refreshed just at the right time!
Appreciate the updates
I feel so sad for that poor McLaren sitting there uncovered whilst getting covered in the dust from that poor Merc. What happened to it's nice dust cover it used to wear?
You were so happy and impressed with the car before tearing it down for paint. Sometimes you just gotta enjoy the whole even with its little flaws.
I can only dream of that BEAUTIFUL 996 on the rack. Great content like always

Jack and Jared, basically men who's name start with a J
Agreed, but Harbor Freight tools? Smart dude and clearly VERY talented, but is the chinesium straight edge actually straight and parallel?
@ 17:49 that was exactly what i was thinking too , it would look pretty good tho if done properly
I remember seeing an r33 skyline that a friend had bought as a project. It was sat on his ramp and the nearside rear quarter was visibly taller and wider than the offside. So he dug into it and sure enough, the previous owner had lost the back end at some point and then "repaired" the damage with a ballpein hammer and copious quantities of plop. As he was gouging through, there were soft spots, pockets of water and an utterly horrendous depth of filler meaning the difference was in the filler. Car was cut up and used as a basis for a mad one off project
Dust extraction!! Either get the vacuum style pipes run all round the workshop, you then just connect the pipe to the sander and it extracts the dust, or set up a booth specifically for sanding with strong extractor fans.
A car like this deserves to be done the right way.
"If its not right, paint it white"- painter's talk
Or: if its white, dont do it right
Was literally typing“ I hope y’all didn’t inhale too much dust “ then 12:16 happened 😂

ive been waiting for your upload i love your builds
Ahh the Legends of the Hidden Temple reference in the title 😂😂💪🏽
Keep up the good work tavarish I see you hitting the gym 👀
Its awesome when a professional shows work from someone who thought they were professional.
You really need a paint booth or some kind of a closed space for that kind of jobs. It's painfull to watch all those amazing cars covered in dust.
You are going to find that dust for years... lol.
That's what it usually looks like when someone swerves around and trys to avoid hitting a stopped car from behind, at slow speed and skims them down the side of their own car. Or backs out of a driveway and ends up too close to another car or truck, thats in their blind spot and/or parked too close at 45- 90° and just barely rubs along. I've witnessed both
There are measurement devices that you can use to measure the paint thickness. I also know that car paintshops use those things. You can use them to see where there is excess paint: showing repairs. And you would be surprised how regularly a new car shows an additional layer of filler (1.5mm thickness versus the normal 0.7mm). I even saw a video recently on youtube of a Lucid which was especially bad: i.e. it had many touch-ups and repainted parts.
