He's an influencer I can get behind. Top geezer
As against social media 'influencers' as I am this guy is an exception. Educated, articulate and a very polite human being. A nice change from the plastic, arse shaking vanity queens we are all used to.
It's funny to see the word geezer used that way. Growing up the only time the word "geezer" was used was to refer to an elderly person (usually a man) who was strange or annoying, strict, or "too set in their ways". Something like that. Funny to see it used in a positive manner lol.
Yes couldn’t agree more
not really the right time to call him a geezer
Nice guy but not sure on covid BS.
This guy is just incredible, he comes across so articulate, intelligent and kind and he’s genuinely making a difference 💙
I felt the same he doesnt even want the lime light but his character is calling for it. Real guy
I am so happy that he went on Love Island for the fact that it gave him a platform. He is a very important ambassador and role model for young people. What a gent
hes a doctor

This man is the best thing to come out of love island.
@hfc I watched that season and it’s true, I don’t think anyone as smart has been on the show in 3 yrs
@hfc he was very out of place there
Camilla is great too
This is a real influencer. Not doing some shitty workout or posting about plastic surgery
He is a massive liar, so it is very unfortunate that he is also an influencer.
@@zentamm how is he a liar?
@@zentamm oh bloody hell stop these conspiracies, he’s the leading ambassador for mental health that’s why he went to Downing Street. Stop spreading your delusion
@@sev3n473 probably sold his sole to get that role
@@zentamm *soul...I doubt he sold his footwear. Thanks for clarifying what you meant by him being a liar, at least people can make up their own minds as to whether they agree with you 👍
He’s such a lovely guy. Looks tired though, I can’t imagine the last year he and anyone in the NHS has gone through.

That's such a good way of describing grief. No wonder he seemed odd in love island, he was about 10 years older mentally than everyone else on it. I hope he succeeds in life.
He’s not your typical love island material is he ? He seems like a genuine, intelligent and caring person.
All you needed to put was intelligent tbh 😂
like Camilla who went in the year before I think. They're all the same sort of person now
Intelligent people don't go on love island lol doesn't matter how well he talks
His description of grief is spot on. It is so right. Grief is like a black box, you just go through the stages of looking right into it, to moving it, to closing the lid, but it's always with you. I am aware of his work, not with Love Island, but as a Youth Mental Health Ambassador, and I wish him the beat of luck with it. Mental health needs to be treated the same as physical health. Both inform each other, and are as problematic as each other
I lost My mum in November 2020 she also took her own life had struggled with mental health. I can’t agree more you NEVER think it will happen to you or you’re family . Mental Health should be looked at the same as Cancer, it’s so important we take away the stigma now more than ever
Sorry for your loss 💜
I also lost my mum in October 2019 to suicide. She struggled with depression for 8 years. I feel your pain man.
So sorry for your loss
@@rippinskid Sorry for your loss
i lost mine in 2013 now but when you say you NEVER think it’ll happen to you i really relate i remember thinking it was a sick joke , at least we aren’t alone
Dr Alex & Ovie have been my absolute favourite people to come out of Love Island. Love everything they do & what they stand for. Truly the influencers we should have
The best human to come out of Love Island hands down
And the best human who went in.
The losses he's had to endure in his life are unimaginable 😕 I'm so sorry, Alex. You're such a wonderful man and are such a credit to the UK and society as a whole.
The way he described his grief is so spot on, never leaves you it'll always be there... But the world carries on and you have to do the same
His bro went to my school, was such tragic news, i am so sorry Alex lad.
How do you know he's lying
@@AhmedAhmed-hu3he you dont have to beleive me, thats fine thats your opinion, however that dosent invalidate the fact that i am sorry for his loss, it hits me because its someone that i used to physically see on a daily basis, who now isnt there.
@@oscarphilipps5030 I do believe you
@@AhmedAhmed-hu3he oh shit sorry im dumb i tagged the wrong guy, have a good day lad 😂
He went to my school too (small world). I didnt know Llyr personally but I remember seeing him around and thought he was a shy individual. Its so sad that another person from this school has committed suicide (the other was in my year). It really does affect you whether or not you knew them personally.
Such an incredible guy! Managing to juggle his role on the frontline, alongside writing a book, his social media presence, self care bath bomb business, as well as coping with the tragic loss of his brother 💔 is nothing less than extremely admirable! A true influencer!
He’s ten times the man than some of these others bloke on reality tv. He’s not out for himself and cares about others.
What a genuinely lovely guy, keep making the world a better place Alex
Alex is one of my best friends and I am extremely proud of him, he is one of the most genuinely nicest guys I know.
his description of grief, how to deal with it and how it effects you for the rest of your life is so accurate. you truly are never the same person after a personal tragedy.
This guy has shown the world he is a lovely genuine human being with no ego whatsoever.
Everyone needs to get behind this guy, one of the only genuine influencers I can get behind whole heartedly. The man is really in it for the greater good and not for his own personal gain. Completely broke the stereotype of the type of person going on love island
The way he spoke about grief and the black box is absolutely spot on. Very well articulated
Alex is a REAL influencer. He also replies back to comments on his CZcams so genuinely cares about taking time for people. ❤️
I lost my little brother and best friend to suicide in 2016 5 years on and the pain is still there, the grieving and the flashbacks never stop, a truly top guy Dr Alex 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Never be afraid to tell someone you're struggling...this is really important.
💯👍
Poor guy, just wanna give him a hug to be honest
my little brother is 8.5 years younger than me and is my world. I can't begin to imagine the pain Alex feels everyday. He really is an inspiration and a true influencer. He's the type of person people should want to be like.
I can relate to him saying ‘my life will always be pre & post’ I lost my dad suddenly on January 8th. It’s changed my life forever. 💔
I am struggling with my mental health and feel like all of the other "Celebs" who claim to want to make a difference are jumping on the bandwagon whereas Alex genuinely seems like he wants to help people. Especially in his line of work and the tragic loss of his brother. I would love a chat with him and could genuinely see him making a difference to many peoples lives
I listened to this completely and bc I lost a loved one, can relate. This is a very genuine conversation that is touching. The good part of the Internet and CZcams.
If you are looking for a sign not to end your life, this is it.
I love you. Stay strong ❤️
this man has been such an inspiration this past year and i'm so happy he's being recognised for it all!
So sorry that his brother committed suicide.
My best friend committed suicide last year (24 May, 2020). Her one year death anniversary is coming up next week Monday. 💔
Stay strong! You'll make it through today! I promise you it gets easier over time. Know that there are people thinking of you and that love you everyday. Humans are strong species and we never go through what we can't handle.
@@aalynnodell9809 Thank you! I appreciate it. It's definitely gotten better since I first heard the news, though it doesn't get any more real even now ❤️
Hope your okay and just remember the future is bright.
I hope you're feeling love and support today in loss of your best friend 💓
I'm so sorry.
Incredible guy. What an inspiration Dr Alex is. Thanks for being a great influencer to look up to and a brilliant guy. I'm so sorry for your loss. Keep spreading awareness and positivity. x
Wow weren't expecting this. Another great interview. Top content. Hats off to Dr Alex. Sorry for your loss. This channel is smashing it with great interviewers/interviewees.
I’ve lost someone dear to me to suicide and the way Alex explains how grief feels is so accurate. Well done to him for talking about mental health and for being such a classy guy.
Makes me feel so sad when hearing about his brother, it must be so hard for him, he is being so strong and honest, he seems like such a nice guy
The best guy! He’s a real influencer the type of person young people should be looking up to!
What a lovely man, the works he’s doing is amazing
Thank you Dr Alex. That must of been tough but sharing your story helps so many.
Thank you for your personal explanation of grief and the box. I am two decades out from my *_worse pain imaginable;_* that box is still there, and it greets me unexpectedly during the day and predictably every morning.
i lost my bestfriend 3 weeks ago, she killed herself. The morning it happened, she actually called me, i saw the call but I was busy at that moment and didn't pick up. Instead I wrote her I was busy and asked if she was okay. She never answered back, the next day i got the call from the family. I have an immense sense of regret and guilt.
i’m so sorry for your loss, be gentle with yourself. like he said, there’s no way you could have known. i hope your guilt will lessen over time, you deserve healing
Treat yourself kindly. Your friend wouldn’t want you worrying and trying to replay that event differently.
Am so sorry, but please don't blame yourself. You thinking what if, Will consume you. Please if you are struggling with that speak to someone that can help you.
Lost my older sister to cancer earlier this year (I'm 24, she was 26) and the way he talks about losing a sibling hits home. Still holding that box quite a lot right now. One day at a time, living a good life and trying to do good works in tribute to her.
This was so incredible! Needs more views
I lost my Nan 6 months ago to Cancer, which I know isn't the same as losing someone to suicide but I am having grief counselling & his description of grief is spot on 🖤
My little brother took his own life three weeks ago. I am 32 and he was 28 he was my best friend in the whole world an I feel lost. If anyone has gone through the same I would love to talk as I literally don’t know what to do. Alex you are an inspiration my friend keep up the good work
Such a brilliant speaker , strong man inside and out
Now that’s what you call an influencer, a role model 💯
I’ve got so much love for this guy, an amazing human ❤️
He was my absolute favorite on his season, I’m so sad to hear this has happened to his family I hope they can find peace, he is such a genuinely good person

Love him, awesome guy, extremely articulate and wise. If he has a channel I'm following
Seems like such a sweet and considerate person, and a very valuable member of the Love Island alumni.
Alex thank you so much for your authenticity and sharing something as painful as you and your family went through. It must cost you dearly to relive that event in an interview. Don't know if you believe in God but im praying for you xxx
Absolute inspiration for the younger generation of how to be a proper influence. All my respect ❤️
I'm so sorry to hear.. I think it's amazing what your doing.. I stuggle with SI, this was helpful in understanding the effects on the other people involved.. I watched you on LI, you were great! Wish you good memories and happiness going forward..
very brave interview to talk about losing sibling and keeping it together - a true professional. I lost a sibling and it's extremely devastating
I have been managing suicidal thoughts for as long as I can remember and this last year has been so, so tough even with my mental health toolbox because most of the time it is just my inner voice talking away without input from the outside world and you really do start to really hate yourself on a whole new level. Thank you Dr George for all the work you do. You are making more of a difference than you will ever know.
I hope you have someone you can speak to. You’re stronger each and everyday. 🙏
@@RuthV3 thank you for such a kind reply, yeah I have my learned techniques from therapy and also found a multivitamin of all things helps loads too as well as cutting out gluten. Here's hoping we will never go through another winter of forced isolation, spring/summer lockdowns are easier.
@Nav Sharma CBT but I was fortunate enough to be able to afford some sessions privately, the ones I went to with NHS were not so great at the time but we are going back over two decades. I tried medication for a bit and it either was not for me or the wrong one. I just try and keep my mind healthy the same way that I keep my body healthy, fresh food, sleep, exercise. Also though just like your body needs rest, your mind does too and to not feel guilty for resting when it needs a little more help and try and dial life down as much as possible, just remember to get up once you've finished wallowing. It is hard to pull through the dark days...music helps, moving my body helps, even if it is a quick dance in the kitchen to a song on the radio. Mostly just keep trying things that work for you and recognise when you are spiralling down. The world is a really, really tough place to live in at this current time and remember you are never alone with this struggle. Sometimes I refocus the energy and have a quick chat to a neighbour just to get that connection we all crave.
Such a lovely man and an inspiration. Keep strong and keep doing your thing, Alex
He gave such an amazing description of what grief is and feels like. Absolute geezer.
Dr Alex is such a special person 😭this breaks my heart
Thank goodness for Dctr Alex. I’m so glad we have someone as compassionate as him as a Dctr and someone who cares so much about others. He’s doing so much for mental health he’s amazing
So proud of you, Alex. I’ll continue to watch your channel - even the videos that I don’t relate to - because of the work you are doing on mental health. Thank you x
You sir are a real credit to your brother and your family! He will be looking down somewhere immensely proud im sure.
What an absolute gentleman and hero xxx
What an incredibly kind hearted human. Love Island wasn't my thing but I completely get why he went on and it made me admire him even more. We could all take a leaf out of his book and make steps to help with mental health including our own. Having been in the same position as him my heart goes out to him. The country needs to get further behind him to help him help us . Thank you Dr not only for your countless effort at work but for your countless effort out of work
Great story, love your work Alex keep it up x
