Dude same here I'm 19 too. Best I can say is just exercise and stay in great shape. Go to college and try to get at least an AA. Police departments want to see someone who has put the effort into a college education. That is most important. When you turn 21, then apply for the academy. That is what I will be doing.
@UsMilitaryPolice31B Good luck sir. I am hoping to join the Allentown Police Academy in July. keep me updated on your process.. let me know how your doing. Hope all goes well!!!
Man... when they were clearing those rooms they were flagging each other left and right. I know they are in training but seriously, I hope they got way better at room clearing.
If your in the military no shit this is easy for these guys it's good training if your not in anything then let's see you try this out then say how easy it is props to these cops
Michael Nelson No they do not, maybe in your department but not most! You also have to be tased. You can’t compare an football player to an officer they are two completely different types of training. If you are a police officer you are also an athlete. You get trained for six months and you have to stay in physical shape, you also have to get tested each month after you’ve gone trough the academy to make sure you are cut out for the position and if you fail you will most likely loose your position. The academy is extremely hard and you can fail at any time and you don’t get to just try again, you have to be in top physical and mental shape before you even consider training or else you will most definitely flunk.I was considering joining football because I want to become an officer but I would have to be on the girls team so I decided not to.Yes,I am a girl.Im not butch at all and I’m extremely feminine.
Basically, they need to take a test like the APFT and ace that to pass this training... I would not feel safe with half of those guys/gals protecting me.
videoman191 this is the police academy,in boot camp and the academy don’t expect to come out look like a fitness model. If that’s your mindset the academy is going to be extremely mentally and physically draining for you and you will probably crumble. Before joining the academy, boot camp or any type of training you should be physically fit before hand. The police academy focuses on academics and physical training, the academy focuses more in cardio then actual strength training while boot camp focuses on physical training academics and is also very mind stimulating. Both are extremely hard and you have to have the right mindset to even consider joining!
i got a question... i got into a post certified police academy, and im currently attending college to get my associates in CJ. what steps do i take next after i graduate from the post academy? any input would be greatly appreciated! thank you.
Work on your running push ups sit ups crunches and stamina and endurance .When you run in pt its only 30min first at instructors pace then your own pace and some sprints. Also you should work on pull ups too even though its not really required it would be better to do atleast a couple. Also if your not used to being naked in front of other men/or women if you are one get used to it and you are not afraid of needles because half way through you get a ass load of shots you should do fine.GO HARD
Marines who join the Police usually fail. This is coming from someone that's thoroughly thought about joining the Marines and police, and has talked to multiple recruiters.
useless degree. Every Captain i have ever worked under has always said that those who went for criminal justice regret every second of it. The reason? say you quit law enforcement. Now you have a degree that is only applicable in the field that you just left. Thats why they recommend going with a "well rounded, general" degree.
Hardly anyone comes jacked man.In actuality they dont expect everyone to even pass the pt requirements. Most females are not outta shape but not in shape persay.Half the guys cant run for shit including me.Its is manly mental but the pt isnt that hard.I suggest coming in ripped if your going cct, tacp, cw and pj.Im in security forces and you have to be some kind of fit for that even though a few ''hefty ''guys with a lot of will power make it through sometimes.Iook at my second comment.
because its very specific. As in, what if you dont make it through law enforcement, or decide not to do it anymore? Now you are stuck with a degree that means nothing. Every executive corps member of my department i have talked to always regret going criminal justice, they say go for something like Public Safety Administration, or something in FEMA, or homeland security, that way if you flunk the academy, get fired, or decide not to pursue law enforcement anymore, you have something to back up on.
ROFL the standards of academies outside of California seem like a joke. You should see the hell CHP puts their recruits through. In fact during our physical testing they said if you are not currently able to run two miles consecutively at a 6 minute pace then you are wasting your time applying. Some of these guys have bellies ffs.
Brian Waller to score a 100% on marine corp test its 3miles in 18minutes thats 6minute miles and guys do it all the time. its only "really tough" when you are out of shape. but on another note a few of these guys should not have been allowed in because of the shape they were in. i dont know how they past pre academy PT test. maybe this department doesnt have one.
Police recruits go through various tests. 1. The first being the application process. This is pretty much your resume. 2. The next step is either a written exam or video test. 3. POPAT---Police Officer Physical Abilities Test 4. Interview--Oral Review Board 5. Psych and Medical Evaluation 6. Selected recruits are then chosen for the Academy 7. Academy times differ but probation lasts a year. 8. Full-time Police Officer DO NOT expect to be hired your first time around.
This is the best department in the state of georgia.
If all you need is effort hell thats all I got
Everybody hates cops but when your mom or grandma gets her purse snatched in broad daylight, who do u call,

"Police Academy" is a good film. They should make a sequel.
Dude same here I'm 19 too. Best I can say is just exercise and stay in great shape. Go to college and try to get at least an AA. @ 3:25 the Chief wearing a TSA-looking, though
It is true, it is important that officers respect the weapon, with that they are more aware of the safety risk and hazards
The pepper spray easily the worry part.
Congradulations men!
I'm hoping to join either the Gwinnett County or Dekalb County police academy soon. I'm 20 years old right now, and turn 21 in February.
@UsMilitaryPolice31B Good luck sir. I am hoping to join the Allentown Police Academy in July. keep me updated on your process.. let me know how your doing. Hope all goes well!!!
All you people hating on the department this is the best police academy in the state and has one of the top 5 marksmen in the country. So.....
Fuck you and fuck the po-LICE!!!!
These are real police officers
I went in the airforce.I would tear this up
Watch out, we got a badass over here!
I'd like to see how these guys would do in RCMP training.
What happens during background phase?
Good luck!
I mean, you're kidding right? the music gives it away.
Looks like participation is optional. I hear counting, and see a whole lot of recruits not moving
This isn't the Marines lol.
fucking maggots
seriously, I start the academy next month. I already took the pt test. It's stoopid easy.
Man... when they were clearing those rooms they were flagging each other left and right. I know they are in training but seriously, I hope they got way better at room clearing.
how long is this trainning course till u graduate?
haha oh man i plan on being a cop after i get out of the marine corps and this looks rather relaxing compared to the MC boot camp,
I can't believe I want to be one of them later
If your in the military no shit this is easy for these guys it's good training if your not in anything then let's see you try this out then say how easy it is props to these cops

we had to do that for football practice
how much a cop earn in usa? i'm a military police here in Brazil and i have that doubt...
what's the officer problem?
They take out parts of the pepper spray that makes burn . so its not as bad. And football is a hell of a lot more work.
2nd favorite law enforcment video
I wanna be a police officer, but got some questions who can i ask?
GhostCrisp86 you can ask me,I know a lot.I want to pursue k9 or swat!
they just need to train more before the academy. Most academies expect you to be in near perfect physical condition before you even start.
i went threw the marines, this looks like band camp!
Basically, they need to take a test like the APFT and ace that to pass this training...
I would not feel safe with half of those guys/gals protecting me.
oh lord look who's hands we are!!!!!!!!
lmao. this looks fun. I didn't know you could just chill in the back and act tired.
lol it's like a basic day at bootcamp

some of them definitely weren't ready for the training
1:24 that guy was like Fuck it imma be a cop
Lol man I can't believe that girl squealed when they went in to clear the room, what did she think was gonna happen?
All these people complaining about the pepper spray, well you have to get certified to use them, as well with taser.
Damn! I hope I won't have to do all that at new jersey transit's academy. O_o
What if you don't want to wear shorts?
ak99515ak it depends on what department you go to

God bless the police!

i hear the air force basic is very mentally tough and not really that physical, did u come out jacked or like the same cuz i wanna come out jacked lol
videoman191 this is the police academy,in boot camp and the academy don’t expect to come out look like a fitness model. Both are extremely hard and you have to have the right mindset to even consider joining!
looks harder here then it was in the army...
i got a question... i got into a post certified police academy, and im currently attending college to get my associates in CJ. what steps do i take next after i graduate from the post academy? any input would be greatly appreciated! thank you.
this is probably day one...
wow this academy looks like a walk in the park compared to the hardcore academies in california

you have got to be kidding if new officers look like this boy are we in trouble.
i wanna become a cop thats my goal

Yeah, don't get me wrong though. I do want to be an officer someday and do all the same stuff that these men are doing.
That 3-star chief really looks like a PT inspiration with 200 extra pounds over his gut.
Marines who join the Police usually fail. This is coming from someone that's thoroughly thought about joining the Marines and police, and has talked to multiple recruiters.
dont say they wont save lives and they didnt work hard
'Pounds of feces in his panties' LMFAOOOOO i pissed my pants.. but seriously eh who else gets to you when you call 911
Spending 8 hours a day in a squad car for 20 years.
Room for one more? I cant wait to join. Im close to finishing my degree in CJ
Martin Evan Did you make it??
useless degree. Every Captain i have ever worked under has always said that those who went for criminal justice regret every second of it. The reason? say you quit law enforcement. Now you have a degree that is only applicable in the field that you just left. Thats why they recommend going with a "well rounded, general" degree.
Martin Evan AWSOME
2:43 - at least you guys didn't have to be tased.
also the guy that wants to be there cause of cops was hilarious.
They are tased as well.
I wanted to be a police officer because I was inspired of a TV show call FPJ Ang probinsyano (its kinda a Filipino show)
Pl4rk was here Becoming a Cop is nothing like the movies but good luck!
But see, the thing is... They do it all day long.
I'm proud to be in the same boat as you.
I want to work for DeKalb county when Im 21

I used to live there ( dekalb county)
4.5 Background check
I'm only 15 and I am in WAAAAAAY better shape then then the youngest guy there.
(I think I am) but that's me one day
which is why police is one of the easiest jobs to get fresh out of the military.
I'm 17 and I wanna a get a degree in criminal justice. I do track and go to the gym 5 times a week. This shit looks too easy/
Imperial Wizard where are you now in your life? pursuing your degree yet?
dodds_ yes where are you
DO NOT GO CRIMINAL JUSTICE
! ObamaTookMyCat ! Why not ?
because its very specific. As in, what if you dont make it through law enforcement, or decide not to do it anymore? Now you are stuck with a degree that means nothing. Aren’t they embarrassed to be featured on this video? I live in Gwinnett county. I hope I run into these people and recognize them lol this is funny
Fr😂😂 this isn’t nothing compared to Airforce boot camp. And that’s the easiest out of all branches
Im actually trying out for Gwinnett County Friday Morning, its one of the best agencies in the state of Georgia actually!!!
How was your training
you would think you would train before doing this...
At 1:48,My GOD

In fact during our physical testing they said if you are not currently able to run two miles consecutively at a 6 minute pace then you are wasting your time applying. Brian Waller I may have confused you the way I worded it. It's two consecutive miles at a 6 minute pace each mile. That's really fast.

The title says "recruits", not "veterans"
Police recruits go through various tests.
1. The first being the application process. This is pretty much your resume.
2. The next step is either a written exam or video test.
3. POPAT---Police Officer Physical Abilities Test
4. Interview--Oral Review Board
5. Psych and Medical Evaluation
6. Selected recruits are then chosen for the Academy
7. Academy times differ but probation lasts a year.
8. Full-time Police Officer
DO NOT expect to be hired your first time around.
That is still pretty sad standards when you have so many overweight recruits who struggle to do pushups.
These guys are not going to fight in a war, there traning to be police officers.
