I’m definitely getting the new Darth Maul. Hopefully I can use the new heads on the old body. I was never a fan of Dark Empire, so Luke is a pass. I think the sculpted hair looks better. Hopefully Padawan Kenobi gets announced soon. Don’t be surprised if an artisan Qui-Gon gets announced as well, so watch your budget.
Yes! I think it will definitely have the same type of head as I'm also planning on having one sculpt on the old body riding the speeder so I can display both looks! It's handy cos I nearly picked up a DX16 to go with the DX17 but this outcome is now the best of everything I think. Would love a Palawan Kenobi. Would like an artisan Qui-Gon but the first one sat for sooo long would they risk making another? Maybe as it would be limited, but who know! Will be exciting to see anyway! Thinking about getting two Mauls - with and without the speeder. I have a shadow trooper already, so on the fence on this re-issue. Great recap of the announcements, Chris.
Did you not already have DX17 Maul? Pretty sure the speeder is identical - although I have been known to make mistakes... from time to time...!😅 Yeah if I hadn't sold my original Shadow Trooper I'd be on the fence too but the Death Star panel would have swung it I think! I'm not completely sold on getting two - I'll decide later today when they are up for preorder at my retailer. He is one of my favorite figures, so it makes sense (to me) to want the improved figure. I wonder if they made improvements on the shadow trooper.
Its wild how the OG Darth Maul was great as is for a long time and Hot Toys found a way to improve it and make it better. As long as the 2.0's make good solid improvements that make sense Im all for Hot Toys revisiting oldies and updating them. And yes, at the time of dropping this comment I already preordered the deluxe with speeder lol
💯 agreed. Honestly didn't think HT could improve on the existing sculpt but woo they did it!! No complaints from me thats for sure. Congrats on locking in the deluxe already! The speeder is cool, takes up a fair bit of space but it's definitely cool! Not fussed about Maul. Might get the heads I don't have. Shadow trooper I have not fussed about the wall. Same for stormtroopers. I'll pass on Star killer and Revan. Though Dark Empire Luke got to me as I am old enough to remember the original comic! So he's a must! Even though I have all of the Aphra comics I never did like the droids. Shame for those that didn't get 0-0-0 and wanted him. Hot Toys have done some smart moves with exclusive versions on the past. But this was very poorly thought out. Waiting for the Phantom Menace announcements coming soon.....

Wondering if the new Maul head-sculpt will fit on the DX17 (ie magnetic), so that you can display the DX17 on existing speeder with one new head-sculpt and the new figure with the other new sculpt. Thoughts?
Hey Luke! Yeah I'm 99% confident it's going to be the same magnetic head-sculpt fitting. I've had the exact same thought to put one of the new sculpts on the DX17 with speeder, and the other new sculpt on the new figure! 😃🙌🏻
I have the Maul DX-17 & always thought it looked great. To me, the new version just isn't worth it. If you're able to get the head sculps separately, then get them them. The new body isn't that different from the DX-17. The new one is just a bit thinner (probably removed some of the padding). I could care less about the USB light up feature. I have Vader from the Obi-Wan series & don't even use the light up feature ;) I will say that the Revan & Starkiller figures are amazing & worth getting. Already per-ordered Revan ;)

I would love to see those chrome troopers with a clone head sculpt, that would be interesting. Weirdly I think the original closed mouth maul looks better bit the new open mouth is better than the old one. Got a question though, is this new Luke supposed to look like Mark Hamill? Because I was like "who's that"? To me it looks like some random actor, other than the hair and costume it looks nothing like Mark Hamill to me.
Dude this is where our opinions definitely diverge 😅😅 For me the new Maul sculpts both look considerably better than the older ones!! And Luke looks accurate to the comic!! But I guess it's all a bit subjective! 😀Thanks for checking out the video my friend! 👊🏻

That's so strange to have it look like an actor but also a version based on a comic image. I don't even know how you would go about sculpting that, you would think they would just use an existing sculpt and change the expression. Saying that though on the subject of subjective, I don't think the recent besbin version looks like him either, seen that one in person a lot 🤷♂️

Artisan Luke looks nothing like Hamill. Looks like a bad toupee. The sculpted head looks better but this figure is just a lazy kitbash money grab. Easy pass.

Yeah the chrome troopers are exactly that, just repaints. I think they look cool but I just prefer the screen accurate versions tbh!
Artisan Luke looks nothing like Hamill. Looks like a bad toupee. The sculpted head looks better but this figure is just a lazy kitbash money grab. Easy pass.
