    Pro tip: When out scavenging, do not loot the first container you encounter, but instead use this container to gather all other loot in until you run out of night.

    • @PepperMint249
      @PepperMint249 Před rokem +13

      I used to do that, but discovered that it's actually more convenient to choose the place somewhere in the middle of the location, not the first one near the entrance.
      It just saves more time because you don't need to get all the way back each time your backpack is full. The only advantage the entrance container has is saving you like half a minute the second night you come, and by that point you already have plenty of spare time since you gathered pretty much everything in one spot.
      The only exception is hostile locations, where you want to gather everything in the safest spot.

    1. Build a metal workbench and crowbar on Day 1. Build a Shovel on day 2. Then leave it - everything else can wait.
    2. Be ready to clean Franko out of components and wood on day 3 and around every 3 days thereafter. Wood and components have a low value, don't stack well, but are extremely important. Later on, clear him out of fuel, filters, and fresh water as well (1 fuel is worth 1 wood, which is heavy).
    3. Feed people on odd days only to maximize your food supply.
    4. Your first priority should be to build traps and a single vegetable garden. They are extremely efficient. 2 traps and a veggie garden can more-or-less cover food for everyone.
    5. DO NOT upgrade your metal workbench until later on - your components are best spent elsewhere. Most T2 and T3 stuff can be bought at the Garage using medical equipment.\
    6. Kill military and thugs for guns and armor. Guns/armor trade for a lot and are not very useful for survival (mostly you want to be using a hatchet and stealth).

    Unorthodox Tip 1:
    If you're about to die for a reason you feel is too stupid to just accept, you can kinda combat log.
    Press the exit button just before you die, restart the game, and you'll start the whole day over.
    Unorthodox Tip 2:
    If you know what you're doing, you can enter the military base with a crowbar and leave with literally everything they have in 2-3 nights with little to no consequence.
    Killing soldiers often doesn't make your survivors sad, and even when it does, you came back with like 10 guns.
    Unorthodox Tip 3:
    Loot corpses first. If you leave them unattended to come back for them, they'll be picked clean before you return.

    Tip 1. When you take all resources from a loot pile the pile disappears, however you can add loot to a pile from your inventory. Scavenge everything in an area and put all of the loot in one pile near the entrance making return trips easier.
    This also makes it easier to keep an eye on exactly what loot remains in a location and can make transporting the loot back to the shelter more efficient as you won't be splitting stacks.

    Here's a side tip for using tools for raid defense: the crowbar, shovel and hatchet (to some extent) all will reduce your raid defence power so some items will still get stolen since they are tools and tools have reduced effectiveness in raid defense unless you have a fully upgraded defense and have at least one gun then your good.

    Tip: The rain collector is super useful, for making moonshine and trading with that. A good idea is to make the rain collector and moonshine maker asap basically after the basics (stove and bed) so you can start making moonshine and trading more efficiently, you’ll get a lot early game by doing that then after a few days and upgrades the medicine workshop is also super useful for the same thing… just got back into the game and I remember making the most out of making good valuables and trading them I had a full production going on daily and it was extremely useful to me

    My favorite thing to do in this game is slaughter all of the bandits and military I find, in my most recent playthrough, I've "found" at least 20 guns, 8 vests, 5 helmets, and about 200 bullets. Downside is most dangerous regions barely have any wood or components, but that's not too bad cause I buy out franko with my armory every time he comes.
    Also cheater tip that I don't use anymore for skill reasons: If your scavenger dies, immediately quitting the game while the text saying "[Character] is dead" is up restarts the day cause the game only autosaves when it says the date. Again, I don't use it because it's scummy and I don't have to anyways, but it does really help you learn how to fight efficiently

    This game is frustrating and depressing. I'm going to give it one more try but I'm pissed. If only it was a little more reasonable. I made a still to try to make alcohol to use to make medical stuff but it won't, you need pure alcohol and moonshine don't work for that. You go to a place that's supposed to have lots of food, can't find any. It's BS.
    Update: I played it again and got all the way to the end but I didn't get to do a lot of stuff I wanted to. So I played it again and decided to make 2 animal traps so I could use the extra meat to barter with and my people had so much going on it should have been great. They had 2 heaters, 2 animal traps 8 meat and 2 veggies, upgraded workbench, saw blade, 2 beds, all holes in house boarded up, guitar, water condenser.. and they still got too depressed to eat when the food was right in front of their faces. How do you get more depressed when things are getting better for you? WTF? I even had them giving each other talks all the time to alleviate the depression. Had them eat a bit more and get rest, took meds when they were sick and play guitar. How the hell do you stop the depression? There was no reason for it and it ruined what would have been a great game.

      @@captainhenry560 I used many sets. The issues were the same. Also, I go to the church I leave the church's supply alone and only rummage through piles of trash they are going to throw out anyway out back. One of the security thugs freaks out when I come back in apparently because I was running I guess and then kills me while I am bartering with the priest. So I got pissed and brought one of my other characters back to get revenge which I did. This time I do take their stuff and find a group of people locked away below. Thinking they are being held against their will, I free them and they all act like I'm there to kill them. WTF? Just bad planning on the part of the game developers. I was literally not the bad guy but I was being treated like I was by the game.

      @@evanwalters63 well this game is basically trial and error, for me if any of my survivor died is basically game over so I restarted the entire run. Always remember, stealing, murdering innocents and losing a member will always impact their moralities critically. If you want your survivor to have good mood, avoid stealing, murdering innocents. Some events during scavenging eg. saving them will help to increase their moralities greatly. Killing thugs or militaries will also increase their mood too. If your character is depressed, stay to well fed them and let them rest in the shelter. Worst case scenarios will let them drink moonshine or alcohol to hope the chance to remove their depression.

  • @AnnaMontana-gn4hb
    @AnnaMontana-gn4hb Před 6 měsíci

    Combat could be done better, more dependent on the character used capabilities and as well it´s just too darn easy to blow it all just because of the target moving around and clicking on the cross hair, or knife/fists icon in the case of having a knife or fists only at your disposal. Just click away and hope for the best and that
    it´s my guy that´s dealing the next attack but alas they tend to die really fast like the rookies they are, not trained in combat right, well that´s where when the battle hardened characters in the game should be able to deliver a more potent attack. Too often it´s the classical "first time encountering that certain situation, better luck next time" play, so play and learn but otherwise it´s fun, it just needs small adjustments here and there.
    Excuse my sloppy way of typing a comment, English is as well not my native language but (i guess it´s at least OK now, readable after a little editing).
