A brave woman who sacrificed her very comfortable life with her family in the UK to fight for millions of people suffering under dictatorship. Misunderstood and judged by outsiders who doesn't fully understand the deep rooted conflicts between the multi ethnic groups. A woman who tried hard to hold onto the tight rope balanced by power hungry, stupid and self-serving men who's been at each other's throat for decades.
Outsiders can criticize all they want but she's the only person so far, who even managed to negotiate diplomatically with the junta without getting a bullet to her head. The closest time we have peace we have in 60 years of civil war. Now that she's out of the picture, resolving conflicts will now only end in absolute bloodshed.

People here are commenting like as if they know the politics of Myanmar and the complexity of the issue. Firstly, she is a politician, not a saint and she fought for 20 years to reach to this stage sacrificing her peaceful family life back in the UK. Secondly, people think the so called Rohingyas were driven out and killed for nothing when in fact there was an extremist group called ARSA and Rohingya militants attacked innocent civilians including hindus that started the whole situation. Thirdly, don't just listen to one side of the story by reading biased news reported by incompetent jurnos. Do ur own reasearch, learn the history and understand how complex the situation and Myanmar's politic is before blindly condemning her.

      UK Guardian
Authorities in Myanmar made preparations for attacks against the Rohingya with “genocidal intent” in the weeks before last year’s purge, a rights watchdog has claimed. A report by Fortify Rights, a Bangkok-based organisation, alleges that officials carefully planned a systematic assault on the Rohingya community.
A report by Fortify Rights, a Bangkok-based organisation, alleges that officials carefully planned a systematic assault on the Rohingya community.
Security forces armed non-Rohingya civilians in the months before the 2017 violence, claim the researchers, even as steps were taken to make Rohingya communities more vulnerable to the coming assault. Among the alleged measures were moves to disarm civilians, suspend humanitarian aid, impose curfews and substantially increase troop numbers.
Kerry Kennedy, daughter of the late US attorney general Robert F Kennedy, and president of a rights advocacy organisation that bears his name, concluded visits to Myanmar and Bangladesh with a high-level delegation this week. She said the time had come for the international community to hold perpetrators of “genocide” accountable.
Kennedy said: “The only question before us now is, will we allow the latest round of ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya people to go unpunished once again, or will we finally stand together against genocide in Myanmar?”

also this is just to indicate that the situation in Myanmar is not so black and white. We dont know who is pulling the strings, we dont know what they want to achieve or what power vacuum they want to form through civil unrest and ethnic and religious tensions. The ARSA could be funded by an organisation that doesnt want the current transition to democracy and wants to jeopardize and frame it. Not saying violence is justifiable. Its just that rash actions and bold statements cannot be made carelessly by someone like Aung San Suu Kyi, who has the fate of the country and all 135 ethnic groups upon her shoulders. both groups are in a morally grey area and blaming and rapid "revolution" where all authority is removed will just plunge it into anarchy. Isnt that what happened to the middle east? u know, for example, toppling Saddam Hussein in Iraq under the pretense of "weapons of Mass Destruction" and then a power vacuum forms for a hotbed for terrorist groups, proxy wars etc etc. Basically what we dont want is, outside forces finding an excuse to topple the figures that holds the country together and ruining a country inside out. And Myanmar happens to be a reaaaally interesting place since its right next to China and India. Its a crucial place. Not pointing fingers at anybody, who it is, what is happening, is anybody's guess

      More evidence for the IIC
Although Facebook has discovered disinformation campaigns from countries like Russia and Iran targeted and stirring up chaos in other countries, in Myanmar, those same tactics were used to fuel domestic ethnic violence.
To stir up hate, military officials created Facebook accounts posing as regular users. From these accounts, which had millions of followers, they spread false stories including one about the rape of a Buddhist woman by a Muslim man and others that pitting Islam against Buddhism. The operation also included spreading rumors and fake satire about the country’s civilian leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
That hate, spread deliberately by government officials turned into real acts of violence: murders, rapes, and the destruction of entire communities leaving a trail of dead and creating a refugee crisis as Myanmar’s Rohingya minority fled.

I don’t understand how people accuse ASSK for what the military has done. She and her party was the weak new government who struggled to stay in power to help building democracy, while some old brutal men with their power building for almost a century were there threatening to cease authorities (and they did).
Politics in Myanmar is complicated. It is not done by one hero. Internal clashes between different ethnics are not rare. Those who made the decision to harm innocent people should face their crime. Stop expecting some kind of ‘hero’ to be responsible for everything happened in their country. Just imagine what would they have done to her if she stood up and pointing out names of those who were guilty. She was arrested, at her 77, without doing that or anything near that.

Half of the Rohingya children who fled to Bangladesh without their parents following a military crackdown in Myanmar were orphaned by violence, the international charity Save the Children (STC) said Thursday.
The group said there are currently more than 6,000 unaccompanied Rohingya children living in Bangladesh's southeastern city of Cox's Bazar.
The study, the largest of its kind to be carried out in Cox's Bazar, found 63 percent of unaccompanied children were separated from their parents or main caregivers during a direct assault on their village and 9 percent as their family attempted to flee to Bangladesh. Save the Children had no information on the fate of adults in the villages.
"We knew it was bad, but not this bad," said Beatriz Ochoa, a humanitarian advocacy manager for Save the Children in Cox's Bazar. "Even experienced child protection managers were shocked by the findings … This is going to have a profound implication on our work."

"Even experienced child protection managers were shocked by the findings … This is going to have a profound implication on our work."

this is just to indicate that the situation in Myanmar is not so black and white. Not pointing fingers at anybody, who it is, what is happening, is anybody's guess.
Being angry at the only person who is can help myanmar is just stupid.

NYT: A Genocide Incited on Facebook, With Posts From Myanmar’s Military
Members of the Myanmar military were the prime operatives behind a systematic campaign on Facebook that stretched back half a decade and that targeted the country’s mostly Muslim Rohingya minority group, the people said. The military exploited Facebook’s wide reach in Myanmar, where it is so broadly used that many of the country’s 18 million internet users confuse the Silicon Valley social media platform with the internet. Human rights groups blame the anti-Rohingya propaganda for inciting murders, rapes and the largest forced human migration in recent history.
Working in shifts out of bases clustered in foothills near the capital, Naypyidaw, officers were also tasked with collecting intelligence on popular accounts and criticizing posts unfavorable to the military, the people said. So secretive were the operations that all but top leaders had to check their phones at the door.
Facebook confirmed many of the details about the shadowy, military-driven campaign. The company’s head of cybersecurity policy, Nathaniel Gleicher, said it had found “clear and deliberate attempts to covertly spread propaganda that were directly linked to the Myanmar military.”

@@mtninra6042 didnt see ur reply. u didnt address it to me. anyway. yea, I believe that time military is behind it. They are pitting Rohingya against Rakhine because if she an ethnic Burman interfere, the military can just frame her as a traitor and depose of her. Then they will spout lies and close up the country/ You might as well say good bye to the Rohingya if that happens because this isnt the military first genocide and it wont be the last. There are over 50 ethnic rebel groups that all feel oppressed by the military and hates the central government. See just how they will take it if Aung San Suu Kyi start treating them as the villains. Do you think these rebel groups with their own weapons and armies will take it lying down? Words have a limited power in a world where guns rule. Aung San Suu Kyi is smart enough to balance on a tight rope. The conditions that you see in refugee camps are no different from the lives of the poor people living in Myanmar. Suu Kyi does not care about her prizes and accolades. She just wants to heal a country that cannot handle too many divides right now. Right now she's allowed Rohingya to come back and if they dont like it, she's worked with New Zealand for them to migrate there. But did they all return? No. Its obvious they want to make claim to the land (like they have during the time of the British). There are separatists in the innocent crowd that pretends they were always loyal to Myanmar to make claim to Myanmar land. And once they get that land, Bangladesh will swoop in and annex it. Just look at Crimea and tell me that wont happen. Plus the land that they want isnt even Bamar land. Its Rakhine land with its own Kingdom and history. Do you think the Rakhine people will forgive Aung San Suu Kyi if a foreign Bamar woman like her freely give it away? Especially after the fact that the Military made it one of the poorest states in the nation?

news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........Today, many , living in the Word of Jesus Christ are waiting for the righteous/justice dwelling new earth to come soon…….So, His promise of no-evil earth will happen soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My Heavenly Father, your kingdom come. Grace…..He removes all the evil kingdom in us-attacking others with mouth and muscles mentality- in us, & replaces it with Heavenly kingdom…..Heavenly kingdom in us-spirit qualities-love, humility, etc-Galatians 5: 22; Romans 14: 17; ) …….Our creator wants us to walk on this earth according to His
will/desire (compassion to other human beings, humbleness, obedient little
children to our creator, live in harmony with others, help suffering ones,
etc.)……Our creator promised in His Grace to us an Everlasting life in a soon-coming New earth where righteousness dwells (No evil/No wicked)……Gospel of our creator's Grace & Truth/good news!!!!!!!!!!!...............Whoever believes in the Son (His son &our Lord) has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will
not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them (Gospel John 3: 36)….So
whoever/anyone shows obedience to our Creator’s/God’s/Heavenly Father’s grace and Truth that is sent through Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, whoever is
thankful to our creator for His Grace, whoever listen to the Word of Jesus
Christ and walk on this earth in His teachings/spirit qualities (compassion,
humility, praying for suffering others, blessing others, use no bad words to
others, blessing enemies, helping needy others, etc...), model the life of
Jesus Christ on this earth,………then we are little brothers & sisters of
Jesus Christ [Gospel John 20: 17; Gospel Matthew 25: 40]& the children of
our Creator (Heavenly Father-children relation)….& the children will live
in the new Earth, everlasting life…..Heavenly Father, your kingdom come, soon!!!! ..............Gospel of our creator's grace &Truth!!!!!!Good news to this earth dwellers who believe in the word of Grace of our creator/who believe in the word sent through Lord Jesus Christ (God Himself)

I respect your statement and your questions. I mean everyone has questions about this case. But, it's hard to find an answer because there are a lot of information missing. This is a decade issue and it was only exposed recently for some reasons. So, this is the best chance for people to assume and for haters to make fault news and spread them around. So, read and listen from both sides. If you can't find the truth, don't jump into the conclusion. Now you only believe in what you were told and are blaming only one side. Mate, you are one of them too. An extremist.
