    I love how 2010 'miracle of the meadowlands' gets all this attention of 4th quarter NYG comeback/Eagles collapse, yet this is totally forgotten. EVEN THOUGH in both cases, the Giants won a SB the next season? After 2011 SB eagles fans continued to post videos of the Desean Jackson last second TD from 2010, like, good for you, u got to go to the 2010 playoffs and lose. That's like Auburn fans trying to taunt Alabama about 2013, ignoring the 6 titles they won which Auburn didn't.

    • @sleepingdeadman1
      @sleepingdeadman1 Před 5 lety +3

      This one is obviously not as miraculous as those games:
      Herm Edwards recovering and returning that fumble when the Giants were running out the clock won the Eagles that game and (I believe) got them into the playoffs. That's an iconic moment and is so unlikely -- it's a big reason why the "kneel down" play is so common today. Teams used to just hand it off, and the running back would prioritize possession... but after seeing a team screw it up, it went the way of the dodo.
      The "Miracle at the New Meadowlands" was also truly miraculous, and I still think it's the only NFL game to end on a walk-off punt return TD (at least in regulation). Plus, the Eagles made a huge comeback to tie it, but then they took it up a notch and scored *another* TD while still in regulation to win it. Of course, that game had huge playoff implications, too.
      _________________________________________________________
      That being said, I'm not trying to hate on the Giants. This is obviously an impressive win, and 17 points is a lot to overcome in the 4th quarter. That being said, the Eagles JUST let a very similar thing happen to them, like, a month or so ago... so how miraculous is this game, really? Maybe I could see an argument being made that it's a "once in a year" type come-from-behind victory for the Giants. I'd say the two Eagles wins were more like "once in a decade" type come-from-behind victories, though, and they definitely had more drama.
      This is still a classic game and a great win for the Giants. It may have altered history - the Giants made the playoffs by one game that year. Who knows? Maybe if they don't pull this one out, they miss the playoffs and Coughlin [or someone] gets fired. THAT would have almost certainly impacted the Giants 2007 season........ which is the one in which they went 9-7, sneaked into the playoffs, and then went on a "once in a generation" type playoff run, culminating in a victory over Tom Brady and the undefeated Patriots in the SB.
      That's my analytical take on it, anyways. So, regardless of what the game is "considered" to be, it certainly is a shining moment in NYG football history... Hell, I'm an Eagles fan, and even I can appreciate the history here!

    We Eagles fans saw more peaks and valleys during Andy Reid's tenure than in any other period of existence. The ratio favored valley after 2004 though.

    • @CrysisOwnsHalo
      @CrysisOwnsHalo Před 5 lety +1

      Somewhat disagree with you about the after 2004 comment though. I think it was more 50-50 after that. 2005 & 2012, the first & last year of that period of his tenure, were horrible, yeah, & 2007 & 2011 were mediocre & disappointing/underachieving seasons, but 2006 & especially 2008 were GREAT, extremely memorable in-season turnaround years with great games that saw us make great playoff pushes & go to another NFC Championship game (& a NFCC loss where we didn't fall completely flat this time). 2009 had a very sour ending with the 2 blowout losses to Dallas & that inexplicable loss to Oakland at the beginning of the year, but other than that, it was still overall a great season with a pretty stacked squad of playmakers who made big, exciting plays all year, & then 2010 obviously was a great year with Vick's magical comeback season & the Miracle of the Meadowlands II, falling just short to the eventual champion Green Bay Packers in the playoffs.
      If you were to use a scale of peaks & valleys like this:
      3 - 12+ wins & 2+ playoff wins OR 10-11 wins & 3+ playoff wins
      2 - 12+ wins & 1 playoff win OR 10-11 wins & 2 playoff wins OR 8-9 wins & 2+ playoff wins
      1 - 12+ wins & 0 playoff wins OR 8-11 wins w/ playoff appearance & less than 2 playoff wins OR 7 wins & 1 playoff win OR 10-11 wins w/o playoff appearance
      0 - 8-9 wins & no playoff appearance OR 7 wins & playoff appearance but no playoff win
      -1 - 7 wins & no playoff appearance
      -2 - 5 or 6 wins
      -3 - 4 or less wins
      Then the Eagles would have a 0 rating on the scale during that part of the tenure. But of course it's all subjective.
