  • On September 29, 2023, I got word that OT-1 was getting ready to head west from Old Town with a cut of loaded boxcars that had been sitting just east of the ND Paper mill since the closure, serving as stored loads for ND. In addition to the wheels being quite rusty, these cars had quite a few issues to address before the cars got on the move, but after meeting with the maintainer, they were able to head west towards NMJ. It was quite an eccentric mixup of boxcars, with many of the old Pan Am globe cars in consist, as well as an old MEC car. With CSX having cut up so many of these cars, it was nice to be able to capture a few in this train. I would chase all the way to NMJ, with the EMD's putting on a nice show as usual. I hope you enjoy this interesting look at one of the last revenue jobs out of ND Old Town!

So are these loads now going to actual customers after sitting for so long?

Can only hope they will find a new buyer for the mill.

You're thinking of Jay perhaps? Old Town isn't closing (that's been announced anyway).

@@newpylong Old Town was shut down in May; they have not sent loads west for the entire summer.
