The korean title of "chuck" is "척" which means "pretense" or "as if".
The song is about no longer playing nice in a relationship and discarding or throwing away (chucking) the person that has become an annoyance due to repetitive arguments or frustration. All this according to two different website takes on the lyrics

I saw Moonbyul teaching Solar the rap from Diamond but didn't recognize where it came from. It wasn't until this video that I made the connection.

whit the lyric video of Diamond a lot of the spoken lyrics were credited to Moonbyul when they were actually Solar. Some of these lyric vids you've been watching get the girls voices wrong too often, just something to be aware of
Also, Diamond reminds me of something like exploring deepest darkest Africa - gives me 1930's Indiana Jones Vibes

"Diamond" always throws people off on first listen and seems to draw most back in wanting to hear it again and again

I'm pretty sure Chuck is used to mean 'to throw/toss/get rid of'. Chuck as a variation of Charles is only used in the USA as far as I know.
it's acually the romanisation for the korean word for pretend (you'll notice you hear "chuck" when the translation has a line about no more pretending etc) but i think the chuck as in throw away meaning is an extra layer for the title, and probably why they chose to romanise it instead of translate it!

Chuck is one of my favorite songs on this album. It feels so relentless. I think of it as a breakup song, and what they are doing is going through items or memories and they are analising them and throwing them away. (not chuck as a persons name)

I have a feeling that maybe "chuck" is more like, the verb? To chuck something out, in this case the relationship they're talking about, rather than it being some random person's name 🤔might be incorrect but that's how I've always understood it. Diamond feels so experimental but yeah Byul's rap/tongue-twister in the middle is kinda crazy too lol. I love Good Night sooooo much, it's so incredibly soothing. Such a great album, really fun seeing how much your loved it, very excited to see the special clips tomorrow 🤘

Yes Travel was during covid and Dingga especially was written for that, basically being stuck inside and wanting to party. Travel is a great summer song as you said. That Dingo Killing Voice video was done during this time, as they mention Travel their new album at the beginning and end it with Dingga and AYA. During an interview they said Chuck was their favorite, it is a great song, the drive of the beat for what is clearly them not liking chuck anymore. Diamond is my favorite song from this album and in my top 5 most chosen for me, I just love the way Solar sings the letters for diamond and that just totally cool and insane beat and clearly they have moved on from whoever Chuck was. We have Hwasa saying to catch her, Wheein is all ready for you, moonbyul doing that sexy asmr like stuff and Solar seducing you all in one song to a beat that doesnt seem to fit any genre, it is a great song. and this is followed by yet another incredible ballad with solar moonbyul harmonies. They have so many beautiful ballads, I have a playlist for just those and why not end it with an OST because their OSTs are some of the best songs ever.

Yes you’re right. The spoken parts are solar. Funny story about the intro, she was asked to say something in english and she wanted to define what diamonds are but it was too long so she just searched diamond in either naver or wikipedia, i dont remember, but the first sentences she saw was what we got for the diamond intro.

Awww.. kinda disappointed that the video used for Diamond was the one that had the errors. I mean come on, that was obviously not Moonbyul's voice.. we should credit Yongsun with her spoken english parts. 😁I can't blame you though, that has a lot of views and is on top when you search for lyric videos for Diamond by Mamamoo here on YT😆
I'm still kinda a new moo but even I knew that was not Moonbyul when i first heard that song. They each have unique tone and sound that you only need to listen and watch a handful of their performance to know w/c member is doing a particular part. 🙂

@@roguereacts Best of the bunch are the MoonSun on Crack videos by Tomiskus. The four individual videos are funnier than the long compilation video, but s/he tried to take out all the popular song clips that will get you blocked in the compilation for reactors, so that might be a better bet. The videos are four years old now, but MoonSun having mellowed into an old married couple now, most of the good stuff is old, anyway.
