- A TRUE DIAMOND! Today we are going to do a REACTION/FIRST LISTEN to MAMAMOO "Travel" Album! Within this first episode we will be covering the Songs TRAVEL, CHUCK, DIAMOND and GOOD NIGHT. As a freetime "Songwriter/Producer" (self taught - NOT an industry professional) I will be breaking down some of the songwriting and production elements of the song so that you'll be able to hear more the next time you listen to it.

I think Travel is Mamamoo's most experimental album to date, and songs like Aya, Chuck and Diamond are examples of songs that they didn't get to sing before. I believe this album proves that this group has matured and achieved growth in their music. IMO they have slowly developed from idols to artists with each progressing album. I'm very excited to see what Mamamoo will do next.
I agree!! So few songs since it’s only a mini album however all the songs are so different and were all so experimental compared to what they’ve done before (except for good night since they always do amazing ballads). I watched an AYA reaction and they said that AYA is such a mamamoo song although they haven’t done anything like it before, it’s a song that only mamamoo can pull off
@@user-qu3uq2no1v AYA is indeed a mamamoo song because they did it when no one else did. Mamamoo is known for that unexpected flair of experimenting and exploring different sorts of music. So as a moomoo I would definitely say AYA is such a mamamoo song because its different.
After becoming their fans last month, i’ve watched so many videos about Mamamoo until now, and i think they debuted not as an idol but as an artist. So for me, they are an artist from the start.

Travel sounded so early 80's that I ransacked the few remaining brain cells that survived that era (I'm old) to find something similar but when I listened to a dozen or more songs I couldn't find anything Travel seemed to be derived from or even sounded close. I tried Thompson Twins' Wishing (If I had a photograph of you), Madonna's Material Girl, and several songs each by Haircut 100, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Aztec Camera and snippets of a whole bunch of synth pop dance hits without success. I think it's worth trying yourself because I found it fascinating that I could get such strong era vibes and then realize Travel was a much better production than what I thought it reminded me of. Had the same exact experience with a cover song by IU called Last Night Story, which sounded so Blondie & New Wave but when I listened to some of those old tracks I realized IU's arrangement was much more interesting and complex than anything from back then.
Imo on Diamond they were going for the sexy feel of Peggy Lee's Fever as done by a Bond girl. lol
yeah its really hard, didn't find the track it reminded me of either yet :D ... Maybe I'll let my dad listen to it, he know the 80s better than I do xD ...
A lot of producers seem to be big fans of tracks of the 80s and try to combine that style with modern production methods.

what a good reaction, this is the kind of a reaction i need since i am going more deeper now on mamamoo's side tracks and i love how you talk about all the things that is in the song.
the track "travel" gives me a super sentimental vibe and i feel like i just wanna be alone with my friends and not worrying about the things and problems that we have since we are inside of this pandemic.
