My fingers trembled as I pushed the button to make this video public. It's almost as if sharing this video made it all real. I try not to think of this as a battle because I'm not a fighter. This is more about staying strong. And if anything, I'm a survivor (*cue Destiny's Child). I've always said, "If anyone were to deal with this, I'm glad it's me, because I know I'm strong enough to face it," but I am only strong because of the love that exists in my life.
Thank you all for your words of support. I started crying when I saw someone write, "#igiveyoustrength". Yes, I cried over a hashtag. It's okay, you can judge me a little. But in all seriousness, thank you for being a part of my journey, a part of my life and a part of my strength.

Hi Kyle! Just absolutely amazing! I had to pause the video right after you spoke in the beginning. My nephew was looking at me and said, "Tita don't cry." My mom battled cancer for a long time before she passed two years ago this month. So this video is extra special to me personally. Last year my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and a few months ago it hit my grandfather with skin cancer too who still suffers today... . Without the love and support these two wouldn`t be there they are now. All the love support and strength to these people who fight for there lives.
Kyle, I don't know if you'll see this or not, but please never give up on yourself. Your videos have been an eye-opener, an inspiration to me as a dancer, and an escape this past year. Almost a year ago, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer, and while I wanted to be hopeful, I knew it wouldn't be long before I lost her. She passed in early August of this year, my best friend and biggest supporter, and I haven't been dealing with it well. You remind me of her and her strength to keep going until she couldn't anymore. Even when she was in excruciating pain, she managed to sit through my last dance recital she would ever see. I beg you, please never forget the amount of support you have from so many people across the world.

when you decide to watch this video at 2 in the morning and is now bawling your eyes out
I shed so many tears while watching this video, it's unreal. The reason being is because I hardly ever cry. I'm not the type of person whole deals with the thought of love easily. In fact, it terrifies me. Loving someone enough to give them your heart, your friends enough to let them in completely, yourself enough to be comfortable in your own skin? All of that has been hard for me. However, if there is one thing that I love unconditionally that never lets me down, it's dance. And it's because of you that I even started to explore dance and teach myself four years ago. It took me two years to grow the courage to take it more seriously and take classes, but I did it. Because every video you posted made my love for dance grow exponentially. You are the second person in my life within the past two years to be diagnosed with this disease so to say my heart truly hurts is an understatement. It is breaking. I may not know you personally, and you may not know me, but please know this. You are light. You are a vessel of love and compassion. You are the reason that I am so in love with dance. And for that, I promise to open myself up to love in every aspect of my life from here on out. For you, I will try my hardest. I like to think that people who are diagnosed with cancer are the most strong and optimistic persons who motivates others to do good and you are one of them! my brother suffered from lymphoma for about a year in 2013. it was hell for the family since my brother was still so young. But through the love that everyone gave him and the hope that people filled in him, he pulled through once and for all. The following months after diagnosis was the hardest times of my life. Seeing my brother who was so strong and positive become so terribly vulnerable and there was nothing I could do except be there for him. Now he is a cancer survivor after months of chemotherapy and monthly checks. He once told me that he really wanted to give up there and then but when he saw how many people urged him to pick himself up and pull through the obstacle, he promised himself to go on. Because he knew there will always be people walking with him. So Kyle, we are walking with you through this and we love you. You are never ever alone.

My boyfriend was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 3 years old. He is going on 13 years cancer free. He was three years old, he fought for 2 years, and he won. I've lost three people in my life to cancer. There's always this voice in the back of my head saying you could've done more, you could've loved more, showed more appreciation. And I know it's not my fault but, I'll always have that voice in the back of my head.

Kyle..I am a 47 year old mother of a 15 year old son. When I first discovered your choreography almost a year ago, it made me so happy to watch what you create. While I am not much of a dancer myself, I can appreciate the art of your creativity and truly appreciate it. So, when I came across this one recently, it brought teras to my eyes to watch and hear the words. I lost my grandmother several years ago to leukemia. It was quick given her advanced age, but I was able to be there which made all the difference. My letter of love would be for you. You have amazing people around you and your work that give you strength. You are an amazing young man and I wish you love and strength as you fight your battle. May the love of those around you (and those not so close) give you the strength to fight and win. Love and prayers to you. You affect those that you don't know by doing what you do. I have never danced more then one step to the left and one to the right :D let's just say that dancing is not my thing ..but when I recently discovered your videos (by accident) my mind was dancing, my heart was dancing, my feelings, my eyes, all the music that is in me (I am a classical musician and yes you can say that music can't dance if you want but I feel it does so..) just because I was looking at you, at your work!.. I know that it is not a lot but you touched my life and I just have to say: Thank you for existing, for being out there and Thank You For Your Art! It is hard not to cry watching this because following you guys, i can feel your bonds of love, friendship and support from miles and miles away. I find it so hard to accept and i really feel sad to learn of this but you are strong... And i know somehow in your own way, you will fight this hard and well. And yet, #igiveyoustrength. Hi Kyle, I'm an italian girl affected by cystic fybrosis, and one year ago my father was diagnosed cancer. It has been a hard time, but this year he finally was operated and so we thought that everything was over. Some days ago doctors gave us the news: he has lungs cancer. So here we go again, ready for a new fight. But we are in a different mood this time, in fact all this gave us strenght and we love each other much more than ever before. We laugh and we try to appreciate every single moment we have, cancer gave us, as a family, a different view of thigs. Love is above everything, and I wish you all the love you need to beat this enemy. I'm sure you're strong enough and people who love you will always be there when you'll need help. Just don't give up. Dance always gave me the opportunity to free my mind from bad influences and find the strenght to carry on. And lots of time, watching your videos, I found the right inspiration, so thank you. I'm sure this time you'll find the right inspiration from people around you. Don't give up, I wish you all the best.

So this really left me speechless... I cried so much, Kyle was the first international teacher that i ever had, since then I was blessed with the opportunity of taking many of his classes at UDC and LA... I can honestly say that from all the travels and teachers I have been able to take class with, HE is the one that has inspired me the most, what happens in his classes is just magic and i think that happens entirely because he always puts his heart into every piece he creates, I cannot express how sad I feel about this news... Everything you have shared with us makes us love you both as a dancer and a person

I really almost never write comments below CZcams Videos. But this one touched my heart so much. I started to cry when all of your friends lifted you up. This choreography was so real and emotional. Thank you for the beautiful art you create.
my mom's aunt just recently finished chemotherapy and we're hoping she has a while before the cancer returns because this last time was like the fourth or fifth time it has returned. losing someone is definitely hard no matter what the case I have lost so many people in my life for different reasons and it definitely opens up your eyes and makes you feel like living in the moment and not worry about what the future holds.
Kyle, We are a studio all the way in Maryland and your love resonates here. We use your videos as lessons on technique and the joy of dance to our students. They have never met you but they know your heart.

This video is so amazing, and you and your friends are great people. I really love your routines, you are not only an inspiration as a dancer but also as a human. Many people go through the same thing, whatever happens to us we still have to enjoy our life and the good things that we have, just as you said so in the video. I have followed you for many years and have loved every choreography, each step and every song.
but this one stands out from the crowd. (I still cry and it was like 10 minutes ago I saw the video ...)
I can not say I know how you feel because I've never had cancer. but I just lost my grandfather to cancer. he was also a fighter, he fought to the last breath literally. but even if you hear all these stories, you can never completely understand what that person is goes through . we all have different stories, backgrounds with this person we lost or suffering from cancer but one thing everyone has in common is the love and the strength they had/ have together when things became/comes difficult.
I agree with you that it is important to have family and friends close at these moments. if it had not been for them, I had not passed by this lost

Even with your diagnosis you still manage to make these beautiful choreography and im sure there are many more to come. Kyle, you're one of the most inspirational dancers out there. The message you want us all to convey with every video you create is phenomenal and is definitely something that makes you distinctive. I was so happy that I got to see this just 40 minutes after you uploaded it, but I was not prepared for what this video was going to be about. Kyle, your choreography inspires me every day to push my limits and really feel the music and utilize your expression in your dance. I'm so sorry you have leukemia -- my cousin passed away from leukemia at 15 when I was eight, and that's the only person I know who had it. But I know how strong you are, and without putting any pressure on you, just know that I'm here for you, because your choreography has been there for me. I can't believe this. Kyle, I am crying. Sobbing almost. I was a competitor dancer who was becoming so long and talented and beautiful at my art... and then I was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. I couldn't compete anymore because I would pass out. I would get tired just from putting preformance makeup on. After that, I did ballet and modern and only preformed at annual recitals. I was unable to finish my last recital I had before treatment because I was blacking out. I sobbed. I sobbed when I couldn't dance this year because I couldn't be around too many people without getting ill. I couldn't dance after months spent in the hospital. I always hurt, always feel exhausted... I have completely lost my rhythm. I have started to do physical therapy and yoga as much as I possibly can without injuring my body. I plan to start back up next year, as I won't be cured but I might be in remission. Much love to you and your beautiful choreography

I started watching your videos back in 2006 when you were at Funkanometry SF and I finally mustered the courage to take a workshop which was taught by Brandon Dumlao in 2008. Just know, you continue to make an impact on me. I've always checked back in to CZcams to see what you're up to and the amazing work you've done. Wow.. Thank you so much for posting this. I have been a fan since your Miguel video and wow. You have grown so much as a choreographer and I have seen you grow a person as well. I really hope you keep going (which I KNOW YOU WILL) and I hope you never stop. You're an inspiration in more ways than just dance. I know for a fact you've inspired me to be less selfish. Lately I have been trying to be selfish, I know it maybe weird. I hope I'm not the only one out there who feels this way, but I have lost the idea of love. Life seems to keep knocking me down left and right and I thought it was because I was TOO MUCH of a loving person. So I stopped noticing what Love can do for people. And you've opened my eyes to it. I recently became a fan and I actually just found out you have cancer and nearly burst out in tears. I had to take a half an hour to recollect myself before I could go on. After watching this video, I will definitely be sending letters. #staystrong We love you Kyle ❤
After 6years this video is in my recommendation. The part where you talk about yourself having leukaemia it just makes me think about my Dad whom I lost one year ago due to his lung cancer and how he must feels knowing that he has last stage cancer but my mom is there to support him and she always said to him I'll always take care of you just like I have promised you infront of the altar on thenwedding day. And I hope my Dad in heaven is in peace right now. We miss you always. Strength is always my mom who stays by his side always until the day he took his last breath.
Kyle, as someone who has such a deep relationship with cancer, I just want to say thank you for the beautiful message behind this video. I have lost so many family members to this disease, that I often wonder if I will be next. We rush through life, not seeing the world around us. We pass by so many special moments, without even a thought of how beautiful they have the potential to be. I know it's hard. There are good days and bad, but you have to keep your head up. You are inspirational. Your fans are praying for you. Stay strong and know that we adore you.

My grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer around 2007 and many times I've taken for granted the fact that it was removable by surgery and hasn't returned...Thank you for reminding me to cherish those around me and continue giving love and support to the people I care about in all circumstances, because we never know what tomorrow will bring.
