Because Brandy has a lighter voice and for many people this translates as being less powerful.
I.m.o the main reason Brandy's voice is so underrated because it takes a developed ear to understand the nuances. She really mastered all her registers and transitions. Singing is so effortlessly done by her that people who aren't musicians/vocalists don't realize the intricacy of it all. Both Jazz & Bran are beasts.. They use their voices like instruments in a way no else can. 👌🙏

This was always what I tried to explain to people when I was growing up in the brandy era. Especially when it came to Monica. People really tried to say Brandy couldn't sing. A lot of people can't even catch all the things she's doing with her voice which is next to remarkable. All that support and control it's ridiculous.

Brandy is a vocal beast and an excellent performer. She has always been underrated because she sang dry pop songs in the 90's. Now that she's older, her voice is more mature and she let's loose...there's a reason why Whitney Houston saw so much potential in her. Jazmine has the youth and texture of Brandy's voice, the runs and scales of Kim Burrell, and the smooth jazzy style of Lalah Hathaway...all wrapped in 1 beautiful package.
Jazmine has a throwback 80s r&b/ soul vocal style. Nobody sounds like Brandy, records like Brandy, switches up tones in different sections of a song or from album to album, harmonizes like Brandy....I could go on and on. Lastly no recording artist has been more influential across all genres of top 40 radio music categories than Brandy. Don't get me wrong, Jazmine is good at what she is doing and I am grateful for her contribution to R&Bs comeback but we have seen artists very similar to her sound and vocal agility.

something people don't take into account about Brandy is that she's doing most of this WHILE performing. Dancing and power walking back and forth without letting it hinder any notes. Thats not easy at all.
The thing about brandys voice is her ablility to characterize her voice for certain runs or just to hit a note in general !

They're both great vocalist actually they're in my top 5 but from a singers and student of vocals point of view if you wanted to learn how to do properly placed runs, inflections, singing in the mixed voice, developing an ear to stay on pitch, precision, vocal support and learning how to form your mouth leaving enough space to sing each vowel you would go to brandy hence being called the vocal bible not because people think she sings better than another artist but if you want to master your voice you would study her

Jazmine has more runs and range but Brandys runs are more complex, intricate and very beautifully placed. Very difficult to replicate.

Let me first say that I absolutely LOVE both of these women. Brandy's "Full Moon" album is still hands down my favorite female R&B album to date!!!!! However, she doesn't move me quite like Jazmine does. Jazmine makes me sweat lol! But, I love them both! Truly blessed and talented women!!!!

That's how I feel about Jazmine. I can appreciate her talent but I can only take her voice in small doses before I tune out where as Brandy is the vibe I am always in the mood for because I can zone out and get lost in her 3 dimensional vocals.
Brandy's vocal choices are different than any other singer. Her note choices my goodness. Jazmine is more traditional in her vocal delivery. She has a throwback soulful/gospel feel to her singing.

You can't get me to compare cause Brandy was one of her generations best female vocalist at that time ( AND STILL IS IN MY OPINION). Jazzy is this generations best female vocalist at this time in this era. Let's not forget that Brandy set the standard (YOUR FAVORITE SINGER'S SINGER). She wrote a whole album ( Full Moon) for others to follow by. So Jazmine is the reigning queen since Brandy's probably not in the spotlight as much. We could safely say that Brandy is da Vocal Bible and Jasmine Sullivan is da Vocal Symphony!

First of all Aretha Franklin taught everyone. But between this brandy runs every where with precision. Jazmine only runs down. Her notes always end back to a low note. Brandy can run up, down, or full circle back to the original note.
