Toni has more control of her voice. Pitch is what kills Tamar a lot but Toni is always somehow pitch perfect. Toni also has unforgettable tone.

Jamarcus Saffo Well its easier to control pitch on lower notes. Tamar has a very high tessitura, its very easy to lose control with a light and high singing voice. Toni has a beautiful tone and wonderful technique, I feel Tamar has a great technique and amazing range. They are both amazing with their own strengths. They are sisters after all. Toni herself feels like Tamar is the best singer out of her and her sisters and I think that says something.

it's amazing how their tone/range reflects their personality so well!! Tamar always gives these crazy runs and loves to belt out the notes, reflecting her large personality/loud confidence. Toni's very controlled and sultry, reflecting her poise and laid back confidence.

I'm 71 years young and i grew up in a musical family of all singers and musicians! Now Tamar is good once she finds the note and is in key but Toni gets the crown! She's got that fullness in her voice her tone is beautiful she's like the Gladys Knight and Anita Baker and Whitney Houston of her time. Even with all the greats in their era of music, they all had their own category and couldn't be compared to the others! They're Often immitated but NEVER duplicated!!!!

You're right Mama. I couldn't agree more if I tried. Toni has incredible tone, control and dynamic ability. She has mastered her voice. Tamar as you said is good once she finds the note. Toni knows exactly where it is and she goes after it like a mad woman whose life depended upon it. She also has the ability to touch you right in your heart when she sings.
Many people can sing but not everyone can make every emit emotions so great that you can feel them and become connect to the singer. That is a true gift. I don't get that from Tamar at this point. She is amazing when she goes into her upper register on pitch but it's more like a performance. When Toni sings I feel her heart and her passion. Big difference.
By the way two other singers that come to mind for me that I can feel everything they sing are Phyllis Hyman and Anita Baker. Just astounding.

Yes that's very true and i've always said that high notes and melismatic singing doesn't make you a better singer, well at least in my opinion. Tamar just doesn't have that well resonated voice to me and at times she can be pitchy. Maybe that's just her style of singing?! But they're both good in their on right.

+Diaab Nasir High notes don't make a great singer. Toni got her Grammies honest without having to kill her throat lol. While Tamar gives range, she usually seems like she's working too hard and the quality of her sound is inconsistent. Toni gives control and polish, never overdoing it. Tamar has great moments but Toni is consistently on point. I pray that Tamar disciplines herself so she can grow and achieve the longevity and respect Toni has earned.
Having range doesn't make you a better singer, just means you can go places the other may not. Tamar has nice voice but I understand why Toni was picked, her voice is rich, full, sultry, and beautiful, not to mention Toni can do things as seen in this video with get voice as well without losing her natural flare.

I don't dislike Tamar but from what I've seen she makes these crazy faces that really causes me to laugh which breaks any connection I was trying to have with her. @@itztayy1739 Tamar has a good voice but it is not vocally reliable. I do not see the point in comparing Tamar, a soprano singer, to a messo soprano and baratone singer like Toni or Anita Baker. The messo soprano and baratone singer will always have better vocal control, better pitch, and reliability whereas the soprano will suffer vocal decline with age. A more closer comparison is Tamar versus Mariah or Chante Moore. Out of the 3 I would say Chante Moore can sing better than Mariah and Tamar present day because her voice has lasted longer and she has better pitch and vocal control.

Actually I give it up to the RnB singers of yesteryear more because they didn't have the internet and social media (which are a huge influence today on music and success) to promote themselves all over the world (remember the tweet from Ga Ga about Tamar's "Love and War" that got her noticed overnight?). Now you don't have to have the vocal ability; just the right team and connections. Also there was way more competition back then; female RnB singers came a dime a dozen and Toni went toe to toe on the charts with the likes of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey among many others.
There is also a reason why Tamar Braxton is in the Guinness book of World Records for her voice and Toni isn't. Apparently Tamar can hit notes that Toni can't. No shade, just stating facts.

I agree they all have their own style in music but I agree she was so underrated and still is now in my opinion. They both blow incomparable. But one thing for sure those woman from the mother to each daughter has been fighting for this with everything they have but keep getting drug back but no matter what EACH woman in that family in my opinion are some strong woman.

Tamar rarely incompletes runs btw. She's very agile and some classify her as a coloratura soprano(I dont since her voice isnt fully connected). the only problem she has is supporting her upper belts and lows. Since shes has alot of ease in her upper belts i think she doesnt feel like she has to support them because its so easy for her.

Really ? Quite the opposite to me. It's weird, Tamar doesn't look like she's struggling (her range is wider than Toni). Tamar may come off as if she's struggling because she pushes her sound out forcefully (without no flavor/soul), which gets pitchy. That's her downside.
While Toni physically looks like she's struggling but her voice doesn't showcase any struggles because she has such a naturally rich and smooth texture to her voice. Everyone says Toni has great control but she actually lacks control; actually, Tamar has better control of her voice than Toni does hers. Toni is just musically smarter and knows her voice well enough to make it sound pretty yet powerful.

Toni all day everyday!! people think,that bc you can hit a note like Mariah that means you're an outstanding singer. what set Mariah aside was that she could hit the notes, but also control them while she infused tons of emotion and soul. That is what Toni does consistently! her voice speaks to your soul. pure talent at its finest. and she's clean cut with it. extremely hard to imitate her, she has a style of her own. she starts low and just works her way up so effortlessly! she's mastered her voice. she knows what she can do and what she can't and she dominates those chords like a true artist. I think Tamar can sing, but I'm not a huge fan. I like her more as a TV star, than a singer, although I think she's very talented. she to me hasn't found her thing yet. she's like a combo of Toni mixed with Mariah mixed with Beyonce. like her style doesn't seem original. whereas her tv personality seems more original and entertaining. she's definitely a talented girl though they all are.

Toni has the unique timbre. I can see how frustrating it is for Tamar to have a bigger range and she is a great singer. But comparing her to other divas with range and she doesn’t stand out. But toni can stand out among those divas. Remember she was star with Celine, Whitney and Mariah were in there prime. That’s no small feat.

I love tamar's voice, but Toni's voice is far more unique and quite magical. Toni's voice sounds effortless, smooth, and rich and is one of the sweetest voices I've ever heard. Toni's voice is hard to compare to others and is so memorable. The versatility in Toni's delivery sets her apart too, there are some performances where I've been completely amazed by what Toni can do with her tone and range. I love tamar's songs and even love her studio work, but her live performances do very little for me unlike Toni. So Toni very comfortably wears this crown.

Toni sings more professionally and sounds naturally gifted. Tamar tries too hard. It sounds as though Tamar is trying to prove she can sing instead of just singing and letting the song just flow. Tamar tries too hard and yells and screams instead of just singing naturally. Tamar needs to stop trying so hard and just sing and stop straining so much on the high notes. Toni is a better and more controlled singer. Tamar just does too much and sounds more like an amiture singer and just not very professional. She's a hit and miss type of singer.

It goes farther than vocals for me. If we are talking about range and ease, then tamar. But if we are talking about stage presence and historical impact Toni. Toni has a more tolerable tone for me too. Toni wins for me, but tamar is good too
Toni has more ease because of her technique but Tamar should naturally have More ease up there. She needs to fix that problem

Actually i would love to hear tamar sing unbreak my heart. I think she would add some beautiful runs and riffs. i think the upper belts in "Love and War" would be too much for toni

Being honest, Toni had Tamar until F5. Its only natural that Tamar is more comfortable that high, because her voice is naturally higher than Toni, since shes a soprano. I love Toni's sultry, velvety tone and the way she interprets her songs. I lovr Tamars sassiness and power in her upper belts.

After D5/Eb5, Toni struggles to sustain notes, but she held her own until F5. The fact that Toni can even belt past a C5# considering how low her voice sits is amazing. I always thought Toni is a alto, but shes definitely a mezzo soprano or an alto with an extension allowimg her to belt above C5 in comparison to other altos🙌🙌🙌🙌

Regardless of everyones opinions of the Braxton sisters? End of the day they choose Toni queen Braxton for A simple reason, because she is the best of her sisters and the amazing one with the vocals. Toni can say whatever she likes about Tamar but the truth is if anyone of her siblings were better then her then there would be Toni with 7 Grammys under her belt. Am just say that's all.
Two great voices. Grew up on Toni. I love her. Now I'm a fan of both sisters.
I think the thing boils down to, Tamar you cannot get a sense of who she is because she focuses so much on over singing and impressing you, Toni is singing from the soul, and emoting how she feels, not straining, CONFIDENT, and easy to listen to.

There were moments of this video where I was reading comments and not watching who was singing and I would lose track and guess who was who. I love that their styles are so similar. You can tell that Tamar is inspired by her big sister in the best way possible. The Braxton family collectively are some of the most talented women in the game.

I think the quality of videos have ALOT to do with why Toni's voice sounds so much clearer. We all know when they are all singing together, who stands out the most. Most of these videos of Toni are HQ, Tamar's seem to mostly be cell phone video recordings which won't give you a fair comparison, but i think they're both AMAZING. I love them BOTH.

I agree. I Said the same thing. But I’ve seen Tamar live and in person many times and her audio always sounds like it’s coming from a karaoke boom box for some reason.
@@anthonymarcel246 Same and I agree. But every time I've seen her it's been in smaller venues/clubs/lounges that definitely wouldn't have the same sound capabilities as the venues Toni performs in.
