  • Sorry for the delay, but I believe it will be worth it. When you have time to run and gun on tillage and planting there is no time to edit videos. The last half of the video is a music video that shows many different angles and I think you will enjoy it, so stay tuned until the end.
    All my beans and corn got planted on our small farm as well as hay baled. All the major equipment got put away in the barn, but I still have a lot of clean up to do.
    You International Harvester fans will enjoy this 1980 IH-1086 along with this International 45 Viber-shank field cultivator out ripping some dirt. All you other paint color fans please be respectful. This is the used equipment that I have found in my area and can afford.
    There are more videos to come, please be patient, and as always, thanks for watching.

    it takes a lot of time to make this kind of a video and those who have not done it have not a clue the number of times you stopped working to move a camera. this is what it takes to make the videos people want to sit and watch from start to finish. GREAT Job Tim!!!!! and the time you spent at the editor was noticed also. you got to be in a new and wonderful place in that 1086...

      Thank you so much. I got a new magnetic camera bass that made it easier. This kinda videos are fun to do. The 1086 made it possible to get all my crops in with the small window we had to plant. I don't think anyone will be putting any more corn in and if it drys out there might be some beans put in. Thanks for watching and hope all goes well for you.

    1086 was our first work horse 22 years ago when we started farming. Best starting tractor, anything else about it I can't say anything good. Have since went to Deere. Good luck and I enjoy your videos.

    The nice thing about having the wings on is sometimes you can get closer to the wetter ground while still keeping the tractor on the firm soil. Can help to get the wetter soil turned over and drying out some.
    Spent some time in a 986 in my younger years doing similar work. I always thought the IH turned better than a 4430 that I operated at my other job. The 986 didn't ride quite as nice, though; I think that was a function of the shorter wheelbase. I thought both cabs were comfortable; beat the heck out of the 4020 and Farmall M that had been my main jobs up to that point.

      @TAHDAHFarm  Před 4 lety

      Yes, that did help get the ground to dry. Thanks for watching.

      This is my first big tractor, bigger than what grandpa had which was a John Deere 4020 I think. It was impressive to ride in.

    At the beginning shifter was stiff spray lubricant where rollers are under the plate that hides them. Lubrifilm works for me have also used gear oil. I like old internationals gear shift is weak link.

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for watching, I got better at it. I do need to look into why it is hard to get in to 4th gear. I think it just needs an adjustment, all the gears seem to be at the bottom end of the setting point.

    • @davdhynes3518
      @davdhynes3518 Před 5 lety

      If you stand in front cab and look at the back of the clutch follow the linkage you will see a place for a screwdriver that will adjust the clutch which in turn helps with shifting. That what my 886 is like. Hope this helps.

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm  Před 5 lety

      I think the clutch is good, I think I need to adjust for 1st to 4th so it puts it in gear before I get to the stop. I will keep this in mind if this doesn't fix the problem. Thanks.

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm  Před 5 lety

      Yes we do but the bean seed from Ruff's Seed was a Bush kind and they grow like nuts. You couldn't walk into the field they were so thick. I'm trying the same seed this year. There were 5 or 6 deer bedding spots in the field.

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm  Před 5 lety +1

      That would be nice to leave them down but as you could see I have to run the roads to my fields. The road I was turning onto is a county road that has some 4' ditches and mailboxes. To many dumb drivers and not enough room, lol. It was fun driving but doesn't want to turn very well. It was like the dif lock was dragging, not sure if having duals would make it the much of a difference.

      @@TAHDAHFarm I think that mud you went through when you're going counter-clockwise the duels made all the difference. Just need more front weight! Did it turn better later in the day when you lifted the Digger up to turn around on headlands?

      @@TAHDAHFarm oh I get it! When I was a kid we just at the land around the farm. If I met a neighbor on the road you just pulled in the first driveway or backed it into the ditch a little.

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm  Před 5 lety

      I would not have made it with the old tires for sure. It turned better in unworked ground. It did turn better if I picked it up but I leave it down all the time for the most part.

    Have you considered putting a rolling basket on the back of your field cultivator?

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm  Před 5 lety

      Yes, but they are not cheap plus I would have to have hydraulics to lift and lower the wings. The pipe I used in the video to lower the wing would be way to heavy and take at least 2 or 3 guys to fold the wings.
