Ilya Kuryakin To imply that Monica had weak competition is ridiculous. Steffi in a bad slump😂? This women was shredding competition but graf fans always want to distort facts.
Ilya Kuryakin and you want to deny that a person who won 8 grandslams before being stabbed by a Graf supporter maniac didn’t derail her career. Monica Seles was 19, very much still a kid. You sound crazy.
Ilya Kuryakin Monica said out of her own mouth that the eating binge came as a result of the stabbing and and magnified after her dad was diagnosed with cancer. Steffi won 21 of her slams by 1996. Monica missed 10 grandslams during that period and Steffi benefited winning 6 out of the 10 slams. Ilya Kuryakin Steffi still won slams during those years. And you’re still missing the point. Monica didn’t compete in 10 grand slams due to the stabbing. The binge eating especially that early in her career wouldn’t and didn’t stop her from winning slams, however someone attempting to kill her so that their favorite player can be at the top of the rankings and not even having to spend jail time WOULD. We can continue to agree to disagree but everyone except Graf stans know that Monica had huge potential to be the best had she not been stabbed. What made me comment in the first place was you saying that she only won her slams due to weak competition. You can love Steffi, her history in the sport won’t change. However, don’t bring down a great player just to bring up another.
Ilya Kuryakin she had a binge eating disorder and was still beating your fav in slams. Do you get that? She was stabbed and stopped playing tennis missing 10 GRAND SLAMS. Got it? Monica had such a promising career..such an unfortunate tragedy to have cut short her remarkable journey. She was anytime much more better than that Steffi graf.
She could’ve been what Serena Williams is now, she was playing an effective power tennis when the term was not even mainstream in the sport. So at the time 90-93, she was already playing in a style 5 years ahead of her time. Hard hitters didn’t get as good as Monica until the late 90s and early 2000s with the Williams sisters, the Belgian girls and the Russian ladies dominating the sport with their aggressive ground strokes. Lindsay Davenport was the only power tennis player who was dominant in the 96-99 era, which was still mostly ruled by either Graf or Hingis.
Seles did beat Martina Navratilova in a Wimbledon grass match, during those days Martina was still able to beat other grass court specialists like Jana Novotna, that proves that Seles was already a great grass court player before the stabbing. The only reason she lost the Wimbledon final to Graf in 1992 was because she was suddenly pressured to stop her grunting during match play out of peer pressure. That affected her power game and strategising as grunting had been a natural part of her game for a long time ... I'm sure she can handily beat Graf if she had been allowed to play her natural game ... Grunting is accepted as a natural part of tennis since then so looking back it was not fair to pressure Seles to suppress her grunting then ...
She would have been more than Serena. 8 grand slams at the age of 19 and an astounding record overall. She could have easily won 25 by the time she turned 25.

@Amanda Cerny The Assassin conspiracy, is there any evidence on that? I also don't see why Steffi has to apologize, and why it's her responsibility for her fans actions.
She could've came back that year she healed enough to be able to play the French Open so this thing about Graf not deserving her 22 yes she does. She stayed away 27 months sucks she was my favorite player

I remember that moment it was terrifying. One thing for sure she changed tennis forever because all the greats come out Slamming the ball hard !!!
Not to mention women can breath & play without being silenced....💯
Changed the game Forever.
Truly one of the GOAT. 💖 💖 Her.....

That Rivalry was

Such POWER &
GRACE.💚💛🧡❤💙💜🤎💯
WTA, German courts failed her.
Recuerdo que veía jugar a Stefi y pensaba " pero quién o como podrá alguien ganarle"... Y entonces apareció Mónica...
Who is top 5 on the list?
Monica! ❤️😥
Monica was ROBBED of her full career, absolutely. She was also stabbed in the back by the other top WTA players, who overwhelmingly voted to immediately not freeze her ranking. The coldness of how she was treated by the other players was disgusting. And Parche not serving a day of jail time, wreaks of cover up, in my opinion
oh my!... i thought it was Bencic
Original, True OG! Yes, she was on a roll then b4 d stabbing. Hamburg owe her millions of dollars.
How can they say stapped by a " FAN"????????
Why did he attack her??
@Amanda Cerny What evidence is there to back that conspiracy of yours?
@Amanda Cerny The Assassin conspiracy, is there any evidence on that? I also don't see why Steffi has to apologize, and why it's her responsibility for her fans actions.
@Ilya Kuryakin I know right? Its like expecting the Beatles to apologize for the crimes of Charles Manson.
❤️
Coulda, mighta been a Maleeva sisters fan? She already beat 2 of the sisters. Conspiracy!
Bianca Andreescu is the modern day Monica Seles.
I would agree!
Monica Seles: 8 Grand Slams by 19
Bianca Andreescu: 1 Grand Slam at 19
Sorry. No comparison. I mean I like Bianca fine, but c'mon.
This anniversary is for Steffi. Happy??
aren't you grateful to that deranged Gunther?
She could've came back that year she healed enough to be able to play the French Open so this thing about Graf not deserving her 22 yes she does. She stayed away 27 months sucks she was my favorite player
