  • ASLEF General Secretary Mick Whelan says its members are taking strike action because they are the "only train union that hasn't been offered a settlement".
He tells Sky's Kay Burley it is a "Westminster problem driven by the government who doesn't care about the travelling public, workers on the railway or the tax payer".

The minimum SLA is unworkable yet the current government passed it into law. Who are the government working for, the tax payer or the Rail Operator? More like the latter

Y do t he just ask for 5% no conditions attached to it. Then it will go to vote and union members will bite it in. The offer has been offered with loads of conditions with it. No other unions have had to give up any conditions with there offers
