I think Apple is the most beautiful tricolor that I have ever seen. Her facial expressions are just the best. I am so glad that Bootsie and Apple are together. Thank you for sharing them with us. One day, I would love to see Apple produce a tricolor.

We have witnessed our dogs running into their offspring after several years, and showing strong signs of recognition. We have also seen dogs whom we raised, but were then placed in other homes, recognize US by scent. I'd have to say that it's for life.
This is probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. Does the formula provide the same benefit of some protection against disease that colostrum provides? I can't imagine that it can, but I know nothing about this!!
The one and only missing ingredient in the formula is colostrum. That's why we continue to allow Apple to nurse them - her milk flow may be miniscule, but they will get that benefit from her.
Gas is not a problem, but bubbling up can be as they grow bigger and stronger. Since the feeding looks like it will be long-term, I will soon transition to bottle feeding, using a lower flow nipple. That should eliminate the bubbling problem and lessen the chance of aspiration.
As far as weaning with soft food, I've done it as early as 3 weeks old, but these pups are still kind of small, so I'm thinking that we may have to wait until they are 3 1/2 to 4 weeks old. Normally, we wait until 4 or 5 weeks, but I'm suffering from loss of sleep, so we will do it as early as they can handle.
The formula sounds very nutritious and it seems like Watson likes it. I couldn’t help noticing Apple’s ears. When she was a puppy, is she the one who had the hair on one of her ears nibbled on which made the hair shorter? If so, she looks great now!!! Thanks for the update!

Yes, she was the ear-chewer. It took a long time, but they look great now.
