Well I can give you information on what is being said here in Mexico so perhaps you can have a perspective outside of the usual:
The caravan started on October 12, 2018 and it was allegedly organized by an ex-congressman of Honduras called Bartolo Fuentes, he was part of the caravan and was updating his facebook profile with testimonies and photos of the caravan but once he arrived to Guatemala he was detained and deported back to Honduras. The chancellery of Honduras says he organized the caravan, provided transportation while in Honduras and made false promises to the immigrants like saying that he had been promised by the Guatemalan and Mexican government safe passage from them, he's also being accused of working with "political powers" to destabilize the country. He denies this and says that the government is looking for scapegoats to deny the humanitarian crisis his country is living...but I mean, to think that 7,000 leaderless people decided to make a caravan out of the blue seems like a long shot... but that's just my opinion.
The caravan consists of 7,233 people according to a mexican association that aides immigrants ([Casa Migrante Saltillo](twitter.com/CDMSaltillo/status/1054032269893980160))
    2622 men
    2234 women
    1070 boys
    1307 girls
On the Mexican side, the Mexican ambassador in the USA, Geronimo Gutierrez, said:
    >“We have evidence that this caravan is also very much politically motivated. We’re obviously sensitive to the humanitarian situation that we encounter, and we’re acting precisely. But we have also made very clear that there’s no legal ground on which Mexico can issue a permit by which people can just go through Mexico toward the United States."
So the Mexican government is insistingly implying that there's a political actor behind the curtains pushing for an agenda, and they keep mentioning how well timed the caravan is to the midterm elections of US, the final destination of the caravan, but they're not naming anyone because I mean, then democrats would be angry and not just the republicans blaming us for giving shelter, food and offering refugee status to them (but mostly are denying this in fear of being deported) instead of just telling them to go back the way they came.
I can give you some links to sustain this info but they're all in Spanish.
    Hope this helps
EDIT: I'm adding the links to the sources I read to make this comment:

[This New York Times article seems to answer most of your questions.]( www.nytimes.com/2018/10/20/world/americas/migrants-caravan-mexico.html )
      >The caravan is part of a tradition of mass migrations, often organized by advocacy groups, meant to provide safety in numbers to migrants, who face many threats to their safety along the perilous migrant trail. Many say they are fleeing economic distress and violence in their homelands.
      >Such caravans have usually numbered in the hundreds and have passed unnoticed. But the current caravan, by far the largest on record, has angered Mr. Trump, who has seized on it as a campaign issue to fire up his base before the midterm elections.
      >While other caravans have generally withered as they have progressed north, this one has grown, perhaps in part as a result of all the media attention it has received.

At this point, there are people just joining because why not? This caravan is passing through areas that have millions of people in poverty. No doubt some of them are hearing of this and joining. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens.

Where is the wall when you need it!? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Yes the US is a great place to live, but there are many many here living in poverty, and they hardly get any help! If your dream is to be a parent, you owe it to your children to be able to support them & yourself before popping kids out. It just makes sense but if one can not understand that than someone should make that decision for the sake of humanity.

He just happens to come out of the ambulance ( where he was coached) Hesitates swinging a towel looking up past the right side of the Dem reporter Then on Que doesn't walk straight but up onto the road perfectly to her right side and in frame.
Just as she says the words "The dehydration's is what threatening every one who walks through here ...On Que he wipes his face then looks down acting like nothing a miss.
Then the reporter says " these are tough conditions" and again on Que that instant he he wipes his face in perfect timing'
Then he looks to left then way to the right pretending like shes not there, then perfectly within ONE step of running into her he looks front and dam near runs into her as he went around her. FAKE NEWS!!!!

  • @ted1792
    @ted1792 Před 5 lety

Guarding US borders from foreign invasion is not “law enforcement.”
The US Army exists to defend the US from foreign invasion, which is expressly authorized by the US Constitution. Guarding the Mexican border was the Army’s primary peacetime mission until 1940, and no one ever declared this was in violation of this 1878 act. The US Border Patrol wasn’t even formed until 1924, so claiming the intent of this law was to prevent US Army troops from guarding the border is absurd. The map at left shows US Army forts in Texas in the late 1880s when the entire US Army had fewer than 40,000 soldiers; it has 500,000 today. Clearly, defending the US border was a primary mission of the US Army for decades after this act was passed.
