    Once more, thanks for that, my friend, and it was great that you also included the prize attribution (I must say, I find Corinne Hermes to be more charming here than on her winning performance!). The 1984 voting isn't particularly remembered as a cliffhanger (such as '88 or '91), but this video reminds us that, before the last jury, there was only a 6-points difference between Sweden and Ireland. Sadly, any hopes that the Portuguese would turn the tables were shattered very soon...

    He and Alice were indeed great, my favourite song from that year. It's characteristic of the unstability of this voting that they began very well, then slipped to 14th round the middle before climbing up to 5th!

    I don't understand how so many peoples is aganist the swedish entry this year. I mean, am I the one, who has this song as my favourite? Of course, it wasn't the great musically masterpiece like Italy or Spain, but it was an uptempo schlager, a really ESC-Classic

    I was very disapointed when the video were cut just when the winning song was going to be performed one more :(

    About the prize attribution, I find it highly amusing how the security was so tight that the songwriters were blocked entrance to the stage, requiring the host to tell them to let them up. "They won, let them up!" I agree about Corinne Hermes, she was very charming here. And I was disappointed at the cliffhanger-factor being shattered so quickly myself.

    LOL, indeed! I've always assumed that she meant to say 'See you on Eurovision-saturday next year', but due to maybe slight nervousness she blurted the said words out. Or maybe she was starring on another program on RTL the Saturday after the contest?

  • @tasosk3
    @tasosk3 Před 16 lety +1

    Oh, so THAT's what the crowd shouting and Desiree's "let them up" was all about! It actually reminds me of an even more tragi-comic incident at the Oscars of (I think) 1983, with a Polish director who, after winning an award, got out of the room for a cigarette break and then wasn't allowed by the security to get back in - as a result, he got into a fight with them and ended up spending the night in jail! I guess there's no getting past an over-zealous security guard!

    I saw this last evening the ESC 2008.
    And now I can see a clear difference between; just for fun,or,a competition!This year I saw only laughing faces and having fun as if they were on an "every week Party" or "Karaoke-Night"!I mean,ofcourse you should enjoy and be happy to be in the Finals.But here in this video you can clearly see,competition!The 3 guys were so nervous..it was more exciting then..But the show around the ESC is now much better!I mean,for a moment here you could hear a pin drop

    You're right, my jaw dropped at Yugoslavia's 12 points. You'll find my thoughts on that under part 3 of this voting.

  • @Euroviking86

    I stand slightly corrected, as tasos has said that the Greek minister of culture decided not to enter the Greek song into the contest; he also forbid it to enter in '82 and '86. That hardly counts as 'political issues', true; I was more referring to broadcaster issues.

    I really can't understand the way of voting of the yugoslavian jury, 10p. for Turkey and 12p. for Cyprus!!!
    Considering that Yugoslavia got high points from Cyprus and Turkey as well (8 points from each one), I beleive that there was a fixing exchange of votes between the yugoslavian jury and the cypriot and turkish ones.
