So this government after nearly 15 years of austerity and the highest tax burden ever, tries to put the “label of high taxation “ onto Labour. Now this isn’t the comedy club. 😂😂😂

      Thank goodness you support Labour.
It's bad enough that Tories supported Boris, May and Truss.
Everyone knows that if we want a first class medical, education and industrial nation then taxes must rise to fund such.
And a wealth tax must be imposed as soon as.
To see families being turned out into the streets, food banks etc, might be considered a disgrace for a leading economy in these times.

How about we go for 'fair tax', where the more you gain in terms of income in society means more you pay back to the country you benefitted from that gain. We for too long seem to think that lowering taxes for working people means that higher earners should have a tax cut too, NO! There are too many mechanisms in this country to allow wealth to happen, where it doesn't come back to the country. The working people in the country drive the economy, with their work efforts and spending, so they should have a country where they get access to things that they deserve, like a working transport for them, like a NHS for them, like housing for them. Lets recalibrate it and make it fairer. There is never any economic summary in history where conservative policy actually helps people, except the rich, as it cuts too much money out the society and eliminates fairness.

    • @mikeorgan1993

This is why the allowance should be changed. I would like a system that takes away £1 of allowance for every £3 earned over a certain amount until the allowance is exhausted then £1 extra tax for evey £5 earned. So for example the limit would be £70 so by £107,713 there would be no allowance for a single person with no extras. then if you earn £150k you pay 40% tax on £42,287 plus an 20% making it 60%.
Its the only way to make our society more equitable. The idea that a highly paid worker contribues more than someone on minimum wage is a huge lie. It's almost always the other way round.
But to balance that I would set up a fund to promote enterprise that those taxpayers could contibute to which would allow them to mitigate some of the tax burden.
