#indiehorror - Hry
I laughed at Gab’s weirded look on the bathroom bowl being brown, and I just thought: “That’s a brazilian staple right there”. AND I WAS RIGHT. The dev is Brazilian and you can see many “brazilian things” throughout the house. This is fantastic
I thought, hey maybe he just did the research...
Them the Pineapple Jar came out...
I wasn't sure until the gostoli came out.
EU SABIA
No way that makes way more sense now, i thought it was just coincidence ksksksk
That makes so much more sense now 😂😂😂
October is gab's month she's the indie horror game queen of CZcams and no one can tell me otherwise
She and LaurenZSide are at an absolute tie to me ❤
Yes! 😊
100% agree!
facts though
It’s Gabby Month!
Gab carefully decorating the house while the windows and doors are disappearing is the best
Hehe me too, the way she is like is there more in the box while shit is happening around. Priceless hehe
LMAOOOO i knew something was up when she was decorating the kitchen and i immediately realized the fridge and stove switched places
Yes, I was panicking when it happened 😅 and she just "where do I put this" . Love her❤
"did the fridge move?" observation duty coming in clutch
"Omg everything is upside down, ahh everything is upside down... where did my pillows go?" shouldn't have made me laugh as loud as it did 🤣
Gab, if you like haunted house themed things I highly recommend a thriller/horror book called Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey. A woman has to go home to pack up her childhood house because her mother is dying but she hasn't returned since her father was arrested for being a serial killer when she was a teenager then really weird things start happening. I really recommend if you want a weird horror to read :)
Then I will recommend “Home Before Dark” by Riley Sager, you should look up the summary as I’m not well with words, but I do really recommend it (it is also horror and also takes place in a new gotten house)!
writing both down! And adding that it’s quite famous but the disappearing doors reminded me of the book House of Leaves! It’s a tome and quite weird but one of the main storylines about the house is one of the few horror stories that gave me chills.
The title alone is good. It draws you in immediately.
Such a sad story and creepy vibe.
The only complaint I might have is that the accident should have happened farther back in time to be more realistic.
When my brother died I didn't take in that he was dead for weeks. The brain does strange things to protect you.
yeah, two weeks seem like an unreasonable time to be haunted by a house in your dreams. It also feels really weird to find that same house in that time, move and all. I don't know why they decided on that time frame. It makes it seem like the house wasn't real at all, but maybe that's the case? He did say he created his own laberynth, after all. It would also explain the creepy neighbour and what she said about knowing the house.
Took me 5 years to accept my friend's death and all those times I was talking to air. At that time I knew she wasn't there but my brain just like "f*ck it, just talk to the air, she's ninja now". That was about 2 decades ago, I'm all well now living the good life she would have want me to have
Mom's been gone for ten months. I know she's gone, but there's still moments where I come across things of hers that we haven't done something with yet (like her mason jars for canning, or the cocoa she used for her coffee sweetener) and I don't know what to do. It's like I pause for a moment, wanting to ask her what I should do with it all, but I can't, so I just leave it and walk away.
the "clay thing" is an water filter made of clay.
Is very common here in Brazil.
And old houses also have bathrooms with the colors green and brown.
Is very cool gabs playing a brazilian dev game!!
This was a good slow scare. I liked the realization that the oven had moved and the doors/windows disappeared, very cool and creepy.
This game hit a little harder than I was expecting. The claustrophobic red corridors were horribly familiar. A very good demonstration of grief and guilt by the developers.
You're so right! The gross thing that he could 'barely even look at ' despite knowing that 'he should take care of it before it gets worse': it was horrible and growing (out of sight, hidden away) is such a good metaphor for grief and guilt. That and the house slowly boxing him in reflecting his choice for this house to isolate. AND the man who harmed his family- ruining everything the protagonist never got to have.
I'm so glad Gab does games that aren't well known yet, I would've never have known this game existed!
CJU does indie horror games as well. Gab and CJU are my two favorite indie game CZcamsrs
@@Blueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee They're both the best!
Definitely @@JorizonGaming
The moment decorating and organizing is involved you know Gab is about to throw down
When Gab says, "Who sold you this house, didn't they give you keys?", I laughed so hard. She always says what's on my mind and delivers it so well. I always get yelled at to just enjoy the game when I mention things like that. 😂🤦🏽
As a brazilian who didn't know this game, I was surprised when Gab tried to say "araucárias" haha. Also, there's a city called Mariana in my state, it's a historical place. Nice to discover this wonderful game through your channel, thanks Gab!
something about being alone in a big house is scary in itself, add on all the horror elements and it’s extra horrifying
True, I was afraid before this horror things starts happening 😢😅
@@iamnotplayinggameshereThis Game reminds Me a lot of Sierra's Phantasmagoria 1 and The Horror Game Scratches.
When I first saw the name Mariana, I though "hmm a common brazilian name, alright".
But then the game mentioned araucarias, and I was like "Ok, definetly we have a brazilian in the team of the game haha".
Mariana is an actual city in of brazilian's states, is quite beatiful, actualy.
The whole vibe and aesthetic of this game is great. It reminds me of Skinamarink and Anatomy by Kitty Horror Show, two of my fav pieces of horror media. There's so much fine detail to lighting and colour use that it really sets the sinister, eerie vibe perfectly all the way through.
OH MAN SKINAMARINK!! I didn't even think about Anatomy but you're right!! I personally got Hereditary and House of Leaves vibes
I can see that for sure! I loved House of Leaves, I really feel it would be super fun to employ a similar concept in video games just because we have so many ways visual information can be delivered in a haunting way that lets you shift through...the story... (trying not to spoil haha)
you shouldn’t worry about the length of the episode! BB’s health comes first, always 💖
Literally adds years to my life when Gab plays indie horrors 👻
Me too. It's so fun.
Guess you'll be living a loooong while, lucky you!
I love your calm and serene style of playing, it’s really nice to watch. ☺️
I know right. It reminds me of watching my older brother play spooky games when I was little! So calming even during tension!
as SOON as that lady had said "I left the food on your kitchen counter" I woulda slammed the door in her face, RAN to the kitchen to get the plate and RAN back to the door to give that plate back. "Dont come into my house uninvited EVER again, dont come onto my property and DONT worry about whatever "Differences" i may have, because you and your friends will NEVER see them. i moved out here to be ALONE, tyvm. Good day!" .................. that triggered me a bit, can you tell? XD ROFL Also, Gab, Floor vases are a thing btw XD
Not only did he take a nap with his front door wide open, but the truck carrying half his stuff was outside and wide open too.
This is a brazilian game, made by a solo game developer!
It's incredible how the house is just like an average brazilian house Lol
Tysm for playing 🤩
Cannot fathom being a homeowner and managing to sleep while I not only KNOW that there is an active leak but can HEAR it
8 minutes in and gab leaving every door, cabinet, and drawer open is driving my ocd brain crazy 😂
Not at all surprised to find out the dev is Brazilian lol so much of this game screams Brazil: Mariana, Araucária, the brown bathroom, the textured glass shower doors, the stove cover, the clay water filter, the pineapple jar, the calendar, the orange fridge...
Up
Think about it. A house refers to a family. Windows like the eyes are the soul or window into the soul, so a windowless house would be like a family with no soul.
I screamed "Rosemary's Baby," at the tv when she tried the pastry left by the neighbor. That movie frustrates me so much!
This was so crazy!!! Awesome atmosphere, so creepy when the neighbor came over with treats. She said " so don't embarrass them with your differences!" And the character didn't react to the comment?? Then you had to eat what she brought! Then when you were emptying the kitchen box, her treat was gone?? And no comment about that!! Just so creepy!!
The writing for the story text, dialogue, and item descriptions are really well done, like someone put a lot of thought behind what they were doing. It all has a sense of weight and realism to it that serves to develop the progression of the game rather well. Adding in the often subtle soundtrack and not relying on jumpscares, it really helps to support a story of guilt & moving on in the framework of a horror game.
The whole “don’t embarrass us with your differences” thing made me cringe with anger lmfao
Aaah this was great, dev really showed a knack for narrative and pacing. Fans of this should absolutely check out Dead Seater, similar vibe but 3rd person and even more reminiscent of older survival horror games. It's a bit scarier and more tense than this one, but the pacing and buildup are excellent.
i'm such a sucker for this faux-retro rendering style? like its such a good way to warm up low-poly assets. also, i love the image of this person sprinting to the van every time
coming back to this game 7 months later, I still strongly feel this would make a great horror movie
Well, perhaps because I heard "city of Mariana" right from the start, I began to observe every detail that might indicate the game's Brazilianness. But I think that even if I were totally inattentive, I would still notice it at some point, because this game simply screams "Brazil". I loved... Congratulations to the dev, it was a pleasure to watch this game.
And just one more piece of information: In 2015 there was an environmental tragedy in Mariana with the collapse of a dam that destroyed a sub-district of the city, leaving people dead and unbalancing the ecosystem of the entire region. I don't know if the dev meant to refer to this, but some details seemed similar to me. Love you gabs! ❤
My cat passed relatively young, suddenly, and unexpectedly this past weekend. She was my baby. Watching your videos has helped me take my mind off things and stay afloat. Thanks Evelyn 💕
Dude, the doorbell lady got me SO BAD, I actually screamed. There's actually an animation that plays when she rings the doorbell, and I managed to catch a glimpse of it. The sudden movement, combined with the noise, made me jump right out of my seat. Had to put the game down and come back to it the next day.
This video game is kind of like something from The Twilight Zone. What would happen if you would have gotten all of your boxes from the truck to the front porch of the house? Would you still see your neighbor show up? Does this video game have multiple endings?
it seems like it does, where he either kills himself to join his wife and kids, or he lets them go to start working on growing.
these types of videos are so cozy. i love watching gab play indie horror, especially when the weather is crisp and cold ❤
Cozy gameplay to a stressful Tuesday
You said it
Idk why but the Granny Square crochet doily on the stove gives me crazy anxiety 😅
The Nokia 3210 them were the days 😆 also for some reason the option 'LOOK AT WIFE' cracked me up, ha
That was surprisingly terrifying. The music alone was like something crawling on my skin. Lovely!
This heavily reminds me of some other games I've watched other CZcamsrs play. For example the intro reminds me very much of 'I remember this Dream' , then with the tapes it reminds me of a game called 'Anatomy' and when the windows and doors disappear I have to think of 'Bunker 16'. I absolutely love it!
The music and sound effects had me soo creeped out the entire game lmao. Was really well done
Don't worry about longer playthroughs! We have plenty of great content to watch already. Taking care of bb is priority and wishing the precious little guy the best!
Anyone else notice that the doors in the house were changing colors. Like the bottom door in the basement was brown and then changed to green.
I just played this and had a good time, so I'm glad you discovered it too. I actually replayed it because I was curious to see what items were in the boxes I didn't get to unboxing, haha! I like to think the whole situation is a mix of the protagonist's mentality manifesting itself (as implied by the good ending narration) and also maybe a sentient-house using reality-warping to seek out people who are going through stuff to maybe help them through it. Idk, ever since I played Kittyhorrorshow's "Anatomy," the sentient house thing is just a horror concept I appreciate more, as it can be utterly terrifying, oddly wholesome, or a mix of the two. I feel it's impacted my interpretations of games like this one (in a positive way!).
Last thing I'll mention, it was really sweet that his in-laws weren't blaming him and being really supportive: that's true family, holding together in their grief and not letting it drive them apart. In tragedies like that, it's normal for our brains to try to find someone to blame, even if we know bad things just happen randomly. It takes a lot of strength to accept that some tragedies aren't someone's fault and not give into the urge to scapegoat a surviving victim of the tragedy (who are likely dealing with their own survivor's guilt).
I could’ve sworn that the message would be like the spam calls saying they’re trying to contact you about your cars extended warranty.
My whole family all own different kinds of stovetop covers, they're really nice, but sometimes annoying to tuck away when in use.
The musical choices are so seamless & synced that I always think it's part of the actual game 😅
I knew the game was set in Brazil because of the phone book.
I knew the game was made by a Brazilian because of the pineapple jar and that clay water filter.
This reminds me so much of another game. It was an indie game, sort of had ps2 style graphics, and it was about this guy who had depression and left his city to live in a secluded house. A giant metal cage appeared around the house and the guy went into the basement to escape. He had to solve a puzzle or two and there was a mask that chased you at some point, and you had to shoot at it with a gun, and if you beat the mask it was revealed that the cage wasnt real it was a sort of metaphor thing and it ended with the main guy leaving the house... i cant remember the name of it
This really gives me "House of Leaves" vibes. I love it!
Gab, there is an awesome little indie horror game similar to this called ‘mother’. It has a tense, slow buildup atmosphere like this, with an interesting storyline. Love your content :)
had a rough morning, im happy to be able to watch a haunted home game played by gab before my shift today:)
I really love how the guy's family is checking in on him.
Gosh, this was terrifying, and really well done. Super atmospheric. Thanks for introducing it to us! I can't wait to show my sister and other horror nerds.
My favourite time of any day is when I get to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch Gabs videos 😊
That's such a cool game! It wasn't anything super revolutionary, but the vibe is awesome, i love how slowly it's getting to the scary stuff and how unsettling and subtle it was in the first half. Thanks for playing it!
OMG!! I just watched someone else play this last night and thought “Ev should play this, this is right up her alley!”😂❤
Give BB love from your online family and friends! We are all rooting for him and his stabilization!! ❤
Wow. I got really invested in this. What a cool little game. I'm going to get it to show other people, I think. I totally hated Skinamarink, though. Thanks Gab! Feel better soon, BB!
I love this game! It has such an unsettling atmosphere.
That was actually really creepy, the windows disappearing and things moving around was really subtle! And what a devastating story :(
An excellent bit of spooky for me to sip some coffee and watch. Great start to the morning!
I died when she put that massive vase on the table instead of the floor
Very much reminding me of House of Leaves with the house rearranging itself
The very-90s aesthetic is soooo nostalgic. And Gab narrates so nicely. Just totally drawn in~
1:40 I was so confused for a second 😂
the sound design in this game, holy shit
As someone who crochets, the graphical detail of that granny square cooker cover is *chef's kiss* lol
What a cool little game! Didn't expect it to be this eerie... Loved it thanks Gab!
I love indi-horror goobers! This game is so atmospheric!!
I've always thought how great a horror concept that is, I dream of this house (or person/event/thing), and then actually finding it in real life. And not in a stalker-y kind of way.
Feels like a tribute to Silent hill 1/3.
Also the lady from the start is accurate representation of the small "traditional" town.
I want to see a mod for this game, "the windows are alright", where you unpack and nothing paranormal happens.
I know all too well what the character is going through. I’ve have nightmares similar to the game. I lost a loved one carrying too.
You know being haunted for the first time after the death of a loved one would probably be a pretty great reassurance. At least you know there's an afterlife then.
“Makes me want to tear off my face in a most wonderful way”😮 I feel like we didn’t spend enough time appreciating the bananas nature of that statement
Oh my goth, I love this. The vibes between Silent Hill and House of Leaves are *chef's kiss*
(the comparisons are not meant to lessen the game
Woah I was watching this yesterday and I fell asleep right as the character did, I didn't even realise until now when I was trying to find where I was
This was AMAZING. Truly beautiful game, wonderful atmosphere, very cinematic. Absolutely a masterpiece
43:10 clay filter it's basically a water filter, very familiar here in Brasil not so sure about the rest of Latin America I also noticed a lot of other items that are very very common almost like a rule (like the Stove cover or the pineapple jar) very nice!
Gab + the windows are gone + indie horror game = spooky vibes🎃👻
i’ve been dealing with insomia the past couple of months and your long videos keep me company through the night
This is like a more fleshed-out & chill KittyHorrorShow game, very cool.
I liked how the game didn't use cheap jumpscares as you said, as well as the commonly used "mc dies or narrowly escapes" ending. just pure eeriness.
Perfect timing for me to watch while on my lunch break!
When I saw the crochet cover on the stove and heard the neighbour saying "araucaria park", I got really intrigued and made a quick research and found out that's another great brazilian game! I'm really proud of seeing games like The Windows Are Gone, Teleforum and others getting international exposure, it says a lot about brazilian game development market growth! Hope these are two of many to come ❤❤❤❤
I adore Gab's completionist style, checking absolutely everything! 😌😁
You play so many indies I don't find anywhere else (gaming channels), and I thank you!
sean should for sure play this game he'd like it
Less is more sometimes and this game proves that. Man, this was awesome!
A spooky game on my birthday! Thanks gab, makes the day even better
I know the game was trying to make a blank text from an unknown number spooky because nowadays it would be. But back in the day when we first got texting like that, the amount of blank texts I got were ridiculous. Incompatible phones, terrible data transfer, etc. When the iphone showed up it was even worse. I had a blackberry and felt lost half the time with texting.
Proud to say I caught that "Marianne, écris!" reference at the start 😂 Cool show!
Another game you might like is The Dream Machine, it’s not horror explicitly but it is weird as hell and super interesting
This game was so cool! And yes, so unsettling 😬 and i think you mentioned Skinamarink before and I did end up watching it and i completely agree! The movie was so good and i got it all to well as i have a sleep terror disorder (aka i have night terrors 3-5 times a week. Still in my mid 20s and I was kinda surprised that wasnt normal lol) but ya great game and yes you and Sean do what you need to do for BB! I had to out my older dog down last November and it is still effecting me. So i completely get it! We care and love our fur babies a lot of times more than ourselves, im sad to say, but we do give them the best lives they can have while we are their companions. I wish you and Sean all the care and support you can get for BB and all the continued love for BB 😊
Yaaaaay, my birthday, halloween and Gab. There's no better month in the world 🎉😊
This was beautiful. Haunting, but moving and genuine.
