Led by Tyrese Maxey’s playoff career-high 46 points, along with 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 3PM, the Philadelphia 76ers defeat the New York Knicks in Game 5, 112-106 (OT). Joel Embiid (19 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, 4 blocks) added his first career playoff triple-double in the victory, while Jalen Brunson tallied 40 points, 6 assists and 4 3PM for the Knicks in the losing effort. The Knicks lead the best-of-seven series, 3-2, with Game 6 taking place on Thursday, May 2
Maxey joins Damian Lillard (55 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists, 12 3PM on 6/1/21) with at least 46 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 3PM in a playoff game
Embiid is the seventh player (eighth instance) to record a triple-double with at least 4 blocks in a playoff game.
Jalen Brunson is the first second-round pick in NBA History with back to back 40+ point playoff performances. He’s just the second player in franchise history with back-to-back 40+ point playoff games, joining:

As a diehard Sixers fan, I need to change my tune about whenever I look at and think about things. Tyrese Maxey is always positive and upbeat. Always smiling. He delivered a performance for the ages and it was needed facing elimination. 46 points, 7 of them in the final 28.9 seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime capped by that legendary logo 3-pointer at MSG. Absolutely incredible.

I'm not a fan of either team. Brunson vs Maxey was going on all night. I was rooting for the sixers only because they were facing elimination. The logo 3 to send the game to overtime was one of the most exciting moments I've seen. Maxey is a beast.

He did most of the heavy lifting offensively, but Harris and Oubre both put 19 and made plays. Batum made great defensive plays on Brunson. Despite Embiid's offensive struggles, he made crucial plays for them in OT. Maxey is the strongest, but it's not like nobody else had an impact.
