  • America is not Italy; on that much hopefully we can all agree. But this sad fact doesn't mean that America isn't full of Italian food. One of the most cherished culinary traditions of the 50 states, every town has at least one Italian restaurant, and your mom, at the very least, probably made spaghetti once in awhile. However! Despite Italian food being available, not all of this food is great. For the best of all Italian restaurants, we have to look at a rarified class of eateries, often designated by Michelin stars, James Beard awards, and the like. This is where to find the absolute best Italian food in the U.S.

A good Spaghetti Bolognese. My fave italian restaurant was Pizza Palace which closed 1985 Las Vegas. And Nobody made italian homeade like Pizza Palace. Haven't found anything as good as a plate of Sketty, Sausage Pizza as good as Pizza Palace. And I've eaten good Italian food in many cities. Guy Fieri would of gone there. I don't like some joints. But the Palace was the best.

@10:12...SPQR is not an acronym. It is an abbreviation. An acronym is a word, such as 'scuba' (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) or the first acronym, POTUS (President of the United States), made up of the first letters of the full name. Many NASA missions are acronyms. NORAD is an acronym because you speak it as a word. Laser is an acronym (the proof is left to the reader). There are many acronyms.
Abbreviations are simply the letters, not a word itself, like 'FBI' or 'CIA' or 'SPQR'.

The only one of these I've eaten at is Battista's in Las Vegas, and while it was fine, I'll put it up against my two Atlanta-area favorites: Sugo Kitchen in Johns Creek and Modena Ristorante Vinoteca in Marietta. Oddly, though I've lived here for years, I've never heard of St. Cecilia and have never seen it advertised or reviewed. Frankly, most of these places are WAY too expensive for my tastes. I eat at a lot of places where I can get a very satisfying meal for $30, so why pay $150 or more? I don't care how good the food is, that is ridiculous.

If you really want to be disappointed try Italian food in Italy, what most people think of Italian food here is our own version of it and not authentic but it's what we're used to. In Italy it's nothing special due to that, pasta is an appetizer for example and not in most dishes except in tourist areas.
