  • Carbone is easily the most famous restaurant in NYC likely due to all the celebrities who dine there and viral dishes like their $34 Spicy Rigatoni Vodka.
    So we went there and spent almost $500 to let you know if it's truly an iconic dining experience or just flat out overrated and not worth the hype or fuss.

    Hope you enjoy and comment other old school Italian joints you want us to check out - thanks for watching :)

    $27 for three average size meatballs with chunks of bread in them. $52 for chicken scarp. Criminal. By far the most overrated restaurant I’ve been to in NY. The ingredient quality here is no better than Emilio’s, Bamonte’s, Rubirosa, Frost…and none of those places are ridiculously overpriced from what I remember. I would guess very little of the menu is well-sourced…maybe the seafood, that’s about it. Carbone is serving average Italian-American fare at fine dining prices. It’s so ridiculous it almost feels like they’re messing with us. Maybe it’s different if you didn’t grow up with this sort of food - I’m from an Italian immigrant family in SW CT with lots of family in NYC and NJ - but a lot of this food was a weekly thing for us. The service was good when I went, but the old school atmosphere for a young restaurant just comes off as phony to me,

    Since they lost their Michelin Star they have been getting a lot of hate. It’s only bcs they made it so difficult to get in and they attracted every ny transplant wannabe. I prefer Don Angie honestly It’s very chill, easy to make a resy and food is bomb. Staff is not pretentious at all. Great service :)

    If it went downhill it could possibly be a change in the cooking staff possibly. Or maybe some disgruntled cooks in passive aggressive angst.

    I'd much rather be in a hole in the wall type place, of which, I'm sure there are many in old NY. Nice to see the different dishes just the same. 😊👍

    Did the kid say that he "never had pasta" in his life? (at 4:19 mark) If so, how does he know what vodka sauce is suppose to taste like? Just to make sure I re-listened to that clip over and over and I swear he says he never had pasta before. Am I going deaf or was he just being sarcastic? That being said, you girls, however, ROCK!

      HAHA we're cracking up, that is Carly's girlfriend Tessa! It's a quote from Vanderpump Rules where this girl said she's never had pasta in her life. Tess loves pasta!

    Am i right in assuming your meals are FREE in exchange for the exposure the restaurant gets by being shown on your channel or do you actually pay for these meals yourself? I was just curious.....

    • @sistersnacking
      @sistersnacking  Před 4 měsíci +2

      That is actually not true, we pay for most meals so we can share our honest opinions!

    you got to remember the Mexicans are making it. owners don't cook anymore.

    • @gengis01

      I owned a restaurant and I can confirm what Anthony Bourdain said about Central Americans being backbone of the restaurant industry. Mexicans were in the kitchen from Day One. Quality doesn't go down when they bring in Mexican help, it goes down when the owner/management gets complacent and bored.
