- Part 2 of my attempt to restore a 1997 Honda Fireblade CBR900RR-V. The motorbike has not been started in 3 years and has been off the road since 2016. I also believe it housed a family of rodents at some point…
This is my first ever attempt at anything beyond the usual oil change. I'm looking forward to getting this back on the road and learning some great lessons along the way.
This is my first blade and a kind of dream since I was a kid (now I’m a big kid).
On inspection it has:
Rusty Tank
Fork Seals gone
Missing Fuel Tap
Seized rear brake
Non functioning front brakes (well, they work a little)
Scored disks
Lots of rust
Needs new throttle and clutch cables

Thanks for watching and for the fantastic comments. There's still so much to do, so much to do, and so much to learn. Here's the link to the full playlist: czcams.com/play/PLjzl92H4x36XluYEVYV0KLz__HCxlkiSP.html&si=eTEgxb-CyuUOXmeK
Hello Mate. I have a 98 Modell the W Type. Orange/gray. I am restoring her since may 23. I changed a lot of parts. David Silver is a good address for parts for the Blade. Check the Wheel bearings. they are always out of wear. and the blade will drive much better with new ones. Happy to see a SC33 back on the Road.
Thanks for the lovely comment :)
I've picked up a few bits from David Silver and some other bits from Wemoto... It is however getting harder to find bits and the prices are staring to get high. Now that the engine is running I'm gonna get started on the brakes and then the forks. Will lof course check the wheel bearings. No doubt I'll have to also change the rear suspension... Oh, and the chain is rusted solid. Lots to do and lots to learn :)
@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm CSMNL has a lot of parts and a good parts list. I found a lot on Ebay. At the moment Honda will not starting to produce new parts. Hope they will start some reproductions. Many parts you need are repros. New Radiators and cooling Hoses are available.
@@MatthiasMaas-kq7wx I had never heard of cmsnl.. looks like a good resource. Gonna check them out. Thanks for the fantastic hint 🤓

Nice one didnt realise there was a filter in the breather👍the engine sounds sweet👌
Thanks for the comment ☺️… Engine sounds amazing and sooooo glad we got it started. I can’t wait to get it on the road 🤓😎🤘🏻
Such a feeling of relief when it started after all those years 😊
I'm a Suzuki lover but i know this engine and it's bullet proof. no doubt it was going to start.
I on the other hand was very very nervous 😅
@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm naaaaa you can bet a leg, for sure. I drove one many years ago with water pump seized...70K kms and going...
@@RATADATUAVELHA the good ol' days when Honda made bullet proof engines...
New follower. Fun series. You guys will get a bunch of viewers. Funny to watch British people's stream of consciousness as they work. You guys remind me of the blokes in Spinal Tap, init?
ahaha thanks mate... You made me chuckle 😂
As long as our drummer doesn't explode and we sell more than 'shit sandwich' I'll be more than happy! Btw, this Fireblade goes to 11 😂
Love the effort result into a great result
Lot's of cold evenings in a freezing garage with bleeding fingers 😂
Nice work 👍Had some electrical issues with the switches took them apart cleaned and even had to glue the tipover switch just to be sure since the battery went flat while leaving me to take the bus lol.
I haven’t even started looking at the electrics yet… I’m scared 😱
Its been fun watching Bumbleblade.........transform.........I cant wait to see it ........roll out........
Shame the wife ain't so enthusiastic 😂
@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm I did notice some worktops being used, I hope that wasn't in the kitchen. I tried the "ive put a towel down" excuse before and It didnt work.
@@SloboloboVFR The first part was at my parents house on the kitchen table at Christmas... Mum was not impressed. New carb jets went on in the living room at home. Tank was then stored in the kid's bedroom which stills has a slight 'petrol' aroma. However it was burning out the wife's expensive hairdryer, while drying out the petrol tank, in the kitchen, that nearly resulted in divorce. Still, bike is younger than the wife so it's a win win whatever happens..😂
well done....i've owned alot of blades over the years(about 16 or 17) love them...one thing to watch out for is the plugs...starting off the choke and not riding the bike will turn them black in no time....believe me i've done it on more times than i'd like to remember.
Thanks for the great and helpful comment.. Now that we know the bike runs I won’t need to start it and leave it idle that many times.
Next is of course the rest of the bike starting with Coolant, brakes, forks, and the other million things that have rotted since it was last used in 2016 😊
I’m still finding dead things in it 😅
You should have used electrical wire. Good job though 🎉
Many things I should have done.. Many things I did wrong, but I guess it’s all part of the learning curve 😊
Great bikes. I've worked on lots of them and still got one too plus other bikes. I'm also in Bucks too 👍
Thansk for your comment mate. It was a dream as a kid... This is a total midlife crises and I'm loving every last minute of this. bucks has some great places to ride. Shame the weather is so bad :(
@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm Same as me. I used to dream of owning a Fireblade as a teenager. Hope it all goes well and enjoy it.
🏍👍
Ah the old Smokey garage I’ve been doing that a fair bit myself this week. Mostly just to keep warm 😂
And smells soooooooo good 😊
@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm indeed and boy is it satisfying 😂
@@andy_rides wife said she hopes I like the smell coz’ apparently that’s where I’m sleeping 😁
Hi Bucks Biker for what it's worth the choke cable you can tighten it up by turning the base of it right to tighten it up then it will hold ? Also David Silver for spares ? regarding the carbs the 2 outside carbs have different value jets to the 2 internal carbs ? i own a 1995 rrs with i have had from new, ask me how i know ? lets just say a bike shop messed them up for me, if i can help in any way just shout, ATB Wayne.............
Hi Wayne, thanks for the brilliant comment. The blocked jets I changed were the 4 idle jets (I hope that's what they are called...bottle shaped ones in the video). Are those different for the 2 outside carbs? I hope not as I bought 4 of the same :D! Apart from the jets, (wemoto) I've used David Silver for all the bits and pieces I've bought so far foe this blade... They seem to have a better selection for my 1997.
Now that the bike runs, I will start to really try and understand how to make it run smoothly...and in that case I will 100% hit you up on your kind offer of experienced advise.
Just saw and replied to your email 😊👍🏻🤘🏻
£400 for something that looks like its got fake cobwebs sprayed on it - it all looks fantastic - what a bargain. Whats to complain about? 'cobwebs, cobwebs, cobwebs'? I can't see even 1 spot of rust anywhere - its a Honda so of course it'll go .
If only the cobwebs were fake would make life easier… However I think I got a very good bargain. 😊
A fun video to watch. Just one question, at 11:58, those top covers are supposed to look outwards right? so that adjustment screws are more accessible. Looking forward to watch the next episode.
Thanks for that brilliant comment my friend 😊
Regarding the top covers; are you taking about the carburettors? The carbs of course can only go back one way due to the choke cable.. Of course I’m sure we are doing a lot of things very wrong indeed 😅
The carbs are a nightmare to seat properly
Yep… Certainly found that out 😅
Great video, love this bike, I have a lovely set of technic leathers made for this colour fireblade and gloves aswell if you're interested 👍
Thanks so much for the kind comment… Tell me more about the leathers and gloves. 😊
Size 46/56
@@TheBucksBiker-lh2nm,the leathers are in great condition, a few very minor scuffs, original knee sliders undamaged, matching gloves I good condition, just shaped to my hands, I've just taken some pictures but I don't know how to add them, all yours for £25 plus postage, overall fab condition,no longer any use to me ,I'm too old for the fireblade, I ride a Royal Enfield interceptor now, many thanks Ken 👍🇬🇧🏍🙂
